IPad 2 arrived

At last my IPad 2 arrived in fine condition yesterday (3:30 p.m. EDT)...........in time for my birthday. Actually it arrived one week ahead of the original expected date.
WiFi 32 GB black. Good luck to all of those still waiting for arrivals.

Engraving may add a day, but likely less than that. I don't think there's really a whole lot that goes into the engraving process. They just remove it from the box, place it on the laser etcher, and 10 seconds later it's probably done.

UPDATE: Mine went to "Prepared For Shipment" status late this morning!

Still same ship and delivery date. :(

I guess the engraving added 4 more days, I haven't seen anyone else with a deliver date for 04/18.

Hope to get it much sooner!

I assume it will change no doubt and will post when it does :D. Still, for original delivery I saw most who have a ship date of 04/11 show it delivered 04/14. I thought the 04/18 date may have been due to the engraving.

Just checked and my credit card was charged today, too! (although no status change yet.) Yippee!

Not sure why some people have only 3 days/4 days between shipping estimate and delivery estimate. Mine says shipping 4/21 and delivery 4/26 (with engraving) so that's 5 days of transit. It may just have to do with where you are and what the average "transit time" usually is for packages to arrive there. But I know for sure it has nothing to do with the engraving (remember the engraving happens before it's shipped so the 7 days between shipping estimate and delivery estimate are when your package is actually moving towards its destination!). The engraving itself takes just seconds to do.

My transit time is only 3 days (Ship 4/20 deliver 4/23). I'm in Chicago so 1 day from iPad island to Anc, another day to Memphis and into Chi overnight, delivery the 3rd morning.

Still hoping for earlier ship time, but I ordered the 16th (no engraving) 64gb black AT&T

How about you? Has Apple at least charged your credit card yet?
I ordered on the 14th of March and they charged my CC today. No change in order status though.
 
My black 32g wi-fi (ordered 4:33pm pdt on 3/11) is now on dreaded Lantau Island. :eek:

I hope it escapes before weekend.....once my smart cover got off island after long weekend, it was to me very quickly.
 
Ordered 2 x black 64 G AT&T engraved. Original ship date would have been 4-01. They shipped on 3-25 and traveled together. Early yesterday they reached Newark and moved on to Linwood. Then something went wrong. Mine went on to the local facility and got put on a truck and was delivered. Hubby's went back to Newark and just arrived back in Linwood. Still says on schedule according to Fed Ex, but I don't really expect it until tomorrow, which would make it late by a day.
 
Ordered 16 GB Wi-fi on March 12, 2011 9:40am PDT.

Prepared for Shipment but still quoting April 11 as ship date.
 
16gb Black AT&T model ordered at 11:48am (EST) on March 12.

Estimated delivery date April 7th.

Delivered today at 12:32 (EST).

I bought the iPad last year and have been very happy with it and so I waited until I could feel the iPad2 in my hands at 5:00 PM at a Best Buy store in Goleta CA before I decided that I had to have it (my wife now has her own iPad which she loves). My order for a black AT&T 64 GB unit was placed on the Apple online store at 5:48 PM PT on March 11. The online store promised shipment by Apr 1. I just received notice that my iPad2 shipped on March 31st with delivery on Apr 5th.

I eagerly followed forums on the receipt of iPad2 and to my dismay found that an order, for the exact same product, that was placed later on March 11was already fulfilled on March 30th.

The order and fulfillment system should be fair and orders should be processed in the sequence they were received. So how is it possible that a later order for the same product was fulfilled so many days earlier?

Apple is not going to hold up everyone else's order just because yours is not ready to ship.
