Same here! I ordered mine (64gb wifi black with engraving) as early as yours (3/11 12:42AM PST)
I have no idea why people who even ordered after me got the "prepare to shipping" but I have nothing changed (still "not yet ship") and now can't even check my status...really make me nervious.

I hope they are fixing their system because of those wrong cancellation problems...

64g 3g/wifi AT&T...

Ordered mine first thing on Friday morning (1:12AM Pacific) and the iPad is still where it was at that time though my other components have shipped.

I wouldn't be surprised if these AT&T 3g/wifi units with different components are manufactured on other production lines and even at a different manufacturing site, and potentially that site has not (or is slow) posting the status of the prepared for shipping/shipping information. I still believe that Apple will beat their shipment estimates for these systems. They are a smart marketing organization, and they realize the impact of underpromising and overdelivering. They had no problem changing shipping status at the Apple Store when the orders started coming in, so I'm thinking they are going to deliver as promised and potentiall beat those delivery times.

I know last year when I ordered this same configuration, the process seemed to follow the same path as what we are seeing this weekend.
 
After their system maintenance...nothing updated for me...:(
Even for my smartcover!!! Can anyone tell me WHYYYYYYYYYYYY??

I ordered 2 and 1 has shipped and the other is prepared to ship. I would have been p•ssed if after getting up at 3 am and ordering my 2 ipads, they then were cancelled.

Call customer service. They were great yesterday, when my CC denied the second charge and I placed it on another card. The CS lady told me to pick out a smart cover for all the trouble. It will be here Tuesday. The bank messed up, not Apple. Now, that is customer service.

Still do not know why it was denied and neither does the CC company after 20 minutes on the phone with them. They blamed Apple. Like they don't know how to charge credit cards, right.
 
Ordered a 32 GB white Pad at 4:03 AM EST. Received shipping notice 11:55 PM on March12. with estimated delivery on March 17. :D:D
It missed the cut off also..my email from Apple estimated March 16 delivery

My blue smart cover is coming on March 18. :(

Mine too ! It is slated to arrive on the 17th still though (live in IL). I ordered the White 32Gb Wi-Fi model at 12:43 AM PST...I would have thought it would have made the cut-off. I seriously would have waited in line if I realized that it was shipping from China. You would have thought they would have had at least 100K units sitting in their warehouse in CA ready-to-ship on LAUNCH DAY.
 
my ipads are still not shipping... but at least not cancelled.

my order for 32gb 3g+wifi black verizon has not been shipped and I ordered 3:01am central and received notification 40 minutes later.

Mine too, ours will fly together over the pond today.

And I still haven't seen any ATT 3G models prep to ship yet (only my 16Gb wifi shipped, no change in my 16 GB 3G).

There are some possible reasons for this. I am waiting for an 64G 3G ATT to get shipped.

Possibility 1 - High demand on these models and out of stock

Unlikely, because it is not possible that the produced numbers are sold out in 10 minutes. And even I (12:55) and some others with order times earlier than mine are waiting fot theirs to get shipped

Possibility 2 - The delivery status does not show the real progress
Could be because of the 3G units being stored in another depot which does not offer realtime updating of the shipping status. Or at this depot, nobody works on the weekend (imagine, China is big and different vacation rules might apply at different locations). Or the tracking system is down for some reason.


I have a tendency to possibility 2 because of some people here stating, that they encountered the same at the iPad 1 shipment last year and even the "not yet shipped" models where arriving at the costumers at the same dates.

I totally agree with you that it is possibility #2. I also was one of the first to order online, like you.

I remember having these difficulities with the iPhone 4. I called the support a thousand times, because mine was lying back in the shipping process although I was a first minute orderer. The result was, that I got my iPhone the same day as the others.
 
I just checked my bank and the order amount was just recently set to remove from my checking account. My available balance shrunk to match the order amount. That and the order showing Prepared For Shipment makes me think it is shipping within the next 12-24 hours. China is 12 hours ahead of my time so it is Sunday night there. Perhaps it will ship in their morning (my time tonight).

Just checked my bank account, too. Same thing happened to me. I ordered a little after 1 PST (16GB WiFi - White) and it hasn't moved from "not yet shipped" status. Hoping it's ready to ship and that the status updates are simply lagging.
 
I got an email at 7:30 this morning saying that my orange cover is shipping from China and it's scheduled for delivery on Thursday, that's a long time.

Stil absolutely no movement on the 16Gb Black AT&T since the order was placed at 12:45 am PST.
