Two 32GB White AT&T iPad2's
Order Date: Mar 11, 2011 at 01:10 AM PDT
NOT YET SHIPPED

Two SmartCovers shipped with delivery on 3/15.

I have the same config and it still says "Not yet shipped." I understand I'm still within the 3-5 business days range, but still. I'm just impatient. :)

Same, but verizon and "not yet shipped". I'm fully expecting a Monday, March 25th delivery date now.

But When I check Flightaware.com for FedEx Flights from HK to Alaska, I don't see any...Hopefully Ill get an update soon and my smart cover will get updated soon too

Guys, isn't it quite common for carriers to overflow to commercial aircraft? If so, checking "Fedex" planes isn't getting you the entire picture.

mine shows the same.

I called the rep in special services.

I am not sure how the rep figured it went to alaska. If it is on FedEx Flight FX48 (which left at about 8am memphis time), the plane does not stop. It is a direct flight from Hong Kong to Memphis. Hong Kong airport says so, flight tracker says so, and flight stats say so. The plane is a Boeing 777-200LR/F and can make the journey without a stop.

Not moaning at you it just seems weird that the fedex support seemed to think it went to Alaska but all the flight tracking websites disagree.

For what it's worth, I ordered two iPad 2s, a 64GB WiFi Black, and a 64GB WiFi White at 1:01AM PST. (I didn't know they were going on sale earlier). Also ordered two Smart Covers, one Green, one Gray.

The Smart Covers shipped from Sacramento on the 11th, scheduled to arrive Tuesday the 15th.

The Black iPad (64GB WiFi) shipped from Shenzhen March 12th (after the cutoff) and is scheduled to arrive on March 17th (Thursday).

The White 64GB WiFi model has inexplicably yet to ship at all.

Just called FedEx Int'l to see what my iPad 2 was up to since it still says "LANTAU ISLAND HK" the lady at FedEx said it is in the air..so
Hopefully it will get to Alaska, then Memphis, then South Carolina!!

I'm an airline pilot and I use flightaware quite often. From my experience, the only international flights that are usually reliable on that site are the European flights bound for the US. Until the flight gets into US airspace, it can't actually track the flight, it gives an estimated position - if it gives anything at all. I believe the birds are in the air, and we'll get notified when they get to PANC or KMEM. FA is a great site, but many international ones are incorrect - ESPECIALLY the Asian flights.

Highly doubt it. If they do that it would be from Shenzen to Hong Kong. I don't believe there are any fedex flights from Shenzen to HK. I've never seen or heard of one before. I bet they use a local carrier for that.... but for the main jump over the oceans they'll ALWAYS use a FedEx bird. :D

Hope I helped!

It happens every year, every launch....it never used to happen before the internet / wireless age.

I found my self frustrated a few years back when *I* put my self in the predicament of expecting a new MacBook Pro to show up in time for a long trip. It was when they went to unibody design, a major launch.

I got all frustrated, could not track it, could not get answers and it showed up on time anyway, last time I put my self through that though.

One of my good friends in town runs the local Fedex, as we are an international destination resort, the place gets pummeled with all kinds of shipments from all over. So he and I have talked about what happens in cases like this when both Apple's order entry / tracking and Fedex's tracking system gets up to a 400% load increase on a launch like this. Apple and Fedex are a major account partnership, they have a dedicated system of order production and tracking, but when it gets hit with half a million online orders for an iPad in a week or so, things can and do get bogged down, things happen, there are human beings behind the buttons being pushed just like here, so try not to get angry, it's a device, not a blood transfusion.

No offense, but if this still does not register with some, then you really have bigger problems to deal with than not getting your toy on time....

Everyone needs to know that every iPad 2 is being shipped into Memphis. I know a lot about FedEx, I know how they do things, and trust me there is no need to panic or get upset. Also you have to understand Apple is not going to ship the iPads based on priority of who ordered first and whose is more expensive, they are just trying to get the orders shipped as fast as possible. This is what I know, if you ordered an iPad when the shipping estimate was 3-5 business days, you will receive your iPad by the end of this week, at the latest Monday, if there is something wrong with your order Apple will notify you as soon as they can. Just because you see in your order status "Not Yet Shipped" does not mean there is something wrong with your order, what it does mean is that they have not been scanned, but trust me they have been shipped, once again I am talking only to the people who ordered their iPad when the shipping was 3-5 business days. FedEx and Apple are two of the greatest companies of All-Time, they are not perfect, but pretty dang close, they know what they are doing, just be patient, like I said you will have your new iPad 2 by the end of this week, at the latest Monday, no matter which model you ordered. Any questions you have I will try to answer.

Thanks; this makes sense. Flight tracking sites are showing the flights as scheduled, but for departure hours ago. However, the Hong Kong Airport's site (http://www.hongkongairport.com/flightinfo/eng/cargo_dep.html) shows both flights 48 and 98 departed for Memphis.

This is really sad...

would just like to correct myself. Checked my FedEx status, and the latest is:
2011-03-14 16:31:00 Left FedEx Ramp LANTAU ISLAND,

If 16:31 was local time, that matches up well with flight FX 9164, whic has a route of departing hong kong, going to taipai, then anchorage in alaska, and then Memphis. They could well be on this flight i guess.

I'm in the "not yet shipped and 3-5 business day" boat. So if your theory is true, then when will i get a track number and the option to pre-sign for it?

My ATT 64GB Black still hasn't shipped -- so frustrating seeing everybody else (and some just like mine) ship when I ordered at 12:54AM :(

My smart cover shipped though, so I suppose I could just fiddle with that. :p

I agree, i think they are on this flight. But Hong Kong airport website lists it going to Taipai before Anchorage  Maybe it's wrong.

If it's going to alaska, it lands in a little over an hour !

They have to be on this flight. The scan noting that the prize has left the ramp are just a few minutes before the departure time of this flight.

Not a theory, it's fact, but by the latest Thursday. Do not worry you will get a chance to print off the pre-sign form and put it on your door for FedEx.

Yep.

Flight time of Anchorage to Memphis is about 7 hours. They'll probably spend 3 hours atleast at each airport. An hour or two until the plane lands in Anchorage too.. so thats 7 + 3 + 3 + 2. 15hours and they will be on trucks heading our way :)

I have that it left the ramp at 16:30, after the listed 16:12 departure. Could this be do to delay in scanning or something else, meaning it is on that flight?

This is the confusing part. The time they were scanned would be the time they were scanned.. there may be a delay with the timing to update the tracking service, but i don't see why the scanning time will be wrong.

I would call it a delay in the scanning..

At least that's what I am hoping.

If the "first batchers" ship out any later than today there is no way the 3-5 day window is true

3-5 day usually doesnt count sat and sunday even if they are shipping/working on shipping them those days

Order STATUS: iPad 2

I placed my order online at 1:05 AM PDT, FRIDAY, 11 March 2011. I purchased the WI-FI 3G 64GB iPad 2 and a DIGITAL AV ADAPTER-ZML. The ADAPTER shipped yesterday, 13 March 2011 via FEDEX with an ESTIMATED DELIVERY of 17 March 2011 by 4:30 PM.

The "ORDER DETAILS" for the iPad 2 are as follows: "NOT YET SHIPPED" SHIPS in 3-5 business days with DELIVERY 18 March 2001 - 25 March 2011.

Hopefully I should receive it by the aforementioned timeframe. APPLE has been on the money delivering my iPhone 3, iPhone 4, and Ipad without fail. I placed my order online because I knew that I would have to be extremely lucky to find the exact version I wanted in the stores. After reading many newspaper articles over the past few days I know I made the right decision by buying the iPad 2 online. I didn't want to stand in line and then find out the version I wanted was no longer available. The "FREE SHIPPING" was also a great incentive for ordering online. Good luck to all !
