Back in the old days (ipad 1 launch) There was a large group of units there never were scanned until they hit the US. It maybe just wishful thinking. Only time will tell.

I am diligently awaiting my white iPad 2. It's been 'prepared for shipment' since early Saturday morning. Hasn't shipped yet.

What does Apple have against the whites?

Mine: Black 32GB 3G AT&T / Ordered 1:05a / Status = Not Yet Shipped

So the 3G iPads seem to be lagging, yet some have shipped from AT&T and we know AT&T and Verizon had some in-store on launch day...

It would be a reasonable guess that many of the initial batch of 3G units were shipped to AT&T and Verizon to support their launches, save for the 64GB which they did not offer initially, and perhaps a few set aside for engraving.

Hmm. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why my 64 wifi black iPad shipped, and the otherwise identical white one hasn't. (Haven't been charged for that one yet, either.) Annoying, but mostly because the generous woman that bought them both for us selected the white one for herself. :eek:

That could be very true as well. Not only did Apple have to supply the BB's, Wal-Marts, Targets, Apple store with 3G's, they also had to supply ATT and Verizon stores with 3G's only. Obviously, a bigger strain on the supply.

Here's the million-dollar (or rather, $499-$829) question:

Has anyone who ordered during the "ships in 2-3 weeks" period seen any early movement on their order? I'm reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hoping that the "2-3 weeks" thing (especially on early early Sat morning, when I gave in and ordered) is conservative.

Ordered Through AT&T

I placed an order online through AT&T yesterday at 1:00 PM. The site said 14 - 21 days shipping estimate. Ordered a 16GB Black 3G. I received a shipping notice this morning. They are shipping through USPS (free, 2 day) & that has not updated but it *should* be picked up by them today & get to me by Wednesday or Thursday.

I saw one or two orders (both were verizon units IIRC) that were in that category say they had been shipped. However they had ordered about 7 am est. I am in that category with a 9 am est time order. My guess is it will go earlier. In the meantime though I have been enjoying watch everyone work themselves up in this thread. The amazing thing is that we are still well within the 3-5 day promise apple gave people.

So you ordered only 1 in total from AT&T and it said 14-21 days but in fact shipped out next day?

Maybe I need to cancel my order with Apple.

I would be really pissed if they have seen movement. There are many of us who ordered within a minute of the official time who have yet to see any change from Not Yet Shipped. I really hope they start working on the high memory models soon.

Yea but we were also hoping that 3-5 business days was a high ball estimate and that they would really ship over the weekend.

Also some people I work with left early and went to Wal-Mart (all they had was wifis) and brought them in today and it just makes me want mine that much more!

I ordered a bag Saturday night for it and that is showing up today! Go Zappos!

As they put that estimate on every model, I'm just wondering if they are really short on every model or once they start to asses their stock this week there may be some of the models that can be shipped earlier. I ordered a White 64gb Verizon model, which I've heard was the least popular in the retail stores.

I've never ordered online from Apple before so I'm not sure if they have a history of being 'safe' on their estimates and sometimes shipping sooner, anyone had experience with this?

I ordered my as soon as they went on sale. My shipping date is 3-5 days and it shipped yesterday.

Yes, that is correct. I had the same experience with the iPhone 4. My mother ordered hers on a Saturday from Apple. My brother ordered his from AT&T that Monday. His shipped within a couple of days, hers took 2 weeks.
