I bet the low end iPhone 6 does not have an audio jack to save cost.
That's backward. The cheaper the phone, the fewer premium 6s features they squeeze into the 5s, leaving more room for the negligible cost of the headphone jack. And the headphone jack is going to be used by more entry-level customers who cannot afford relatively expensive Bluetooth headphones, and Lightning headphones, so it's unlikely Apple would remove it at this juncture for an entry level phone, thus making it less attractive to its target audience.
This is true. I'm still rocking my iPhone 5 purchased in December 2012. The iPhone SE needs to have 2GB of RAM. Visually I'd like it to look like an iPhone 6 nano, pill shaped buttons, antenna bands and all. If it comes with an A8 that's acceptable(since it's in the appleTV and ipad mini 4 with 2GB of RAM), would appreciate the optics from at least the iPad Pro. I feel like this device should replace the iPhone 6 AND 5s in the lineup, but I realize that's wishful thinking.
Apple is not likely to pass up their opportunity to appeal to low budget Android customers by offering the cheapest 4.7" phone they make for the lowest price they currently offer. The 6 will continue to be sold at the bottom of the lineup to draw new customers.
Well, given todays Apple most of us are unsure of anything from Apple. I'm simply going by the "suggested" thickness of the phone. I suppose they could offer the 5s with the jack, and the SE without. I'm having difficulty trying to nail the market for this phone. Just how many 4"users want "almost all the features of a 6s?" How many are looking for a "new, nice" 4" phone they don't use for video, tons of web surfing, or any real amount of multimedia? I'm going to stick with it having a 3.5mm jack.
I'm leaning toward not removing the 3.5mm Jack because they tend to save unveils of major changes like that for the flagship devices, even at their own detriment sometimes. But the issue for me, is even if this phone is still the same size as the 5s, they're potentially squeezing most of the features of the 6s into the same case, and something's got to give. That also assumes a more premium phone which is being rumored. And the benefit of the doubt I keep giving Apple is that the Jack is being removed because they need the internal space. Now, a low end phone is easier to reconcile, as fewer new features are squeezed into the case, leaving room for the Jack, which would be important for a budget phone. Less so for a premium phone, which has an affluent captive audience with a pent up demand for a 4" iPhone and would likely buy it no matter what -- which is what makes it an excellent test market.
Now a new thought just occurs to me -- maybe they've found a way to squeeze the minimal amount of features into the 5s case to both upgrade it and keep the headphone jack, with the intention of depreciating the product when the 7 comes out, to offer an iPod Touch replacement, thus keeping a cheap iPhone with headphone jack for the next 4 years, even as the 7 drops it, while the cost of wireless and lightning audio products improve in quality and drop in price.

I'm looking forward to comparing the two in person. I'm somewhat concerned the iPhone Se may be too small. I opted for the plus because I wanted a larger phone and while I now think its too unwieldy, the initial need is still there. I'll see what apple does before deciding what to do
The biggest surprise Apple could unveil would be offering a 4.4" screen in the same case dimensions of the 5s or smaller. I wouldn't mind having a bigger display, I just don't want a bigger phone. A 4s phone as thin as the 6s, with an edge to edge display, would be ideal. Since I doubt that's going to happen, and I know I'm going to have to compromise, I'll take whatever I can get.
