While I can't speak for the OP, I like to have mine with me because what I want to listen to in the morning is different than the afternoon and my drive home it will be different still. I also won't listen to the same music from day to day. Add to that, at work if I get a large job that could take me half a day or more I like to shuffle through everything. I don't have a reliable wi-fi connection at work to stream well and I don't have the data plan allowance to stream all the time on cellular.
Remember 2 years before the iPhone 1 came out and the rumours were were a candy bar format? Yep. They didn't know it would have 1/2 day battery.

Um maybe pics too?? Travel with 3,000 pics, 4 seasons of TV, and a 40 GB music library and you need more spacccccceeee.
Not sure this will happen. Strange that Apple would release a brand new design (that looks better than iPhone 6/6S and iPhone 7 mock ups) for a non-flagship device. It will either adopt the iPhone 6/ 6S design or retain the current 5S design (less likely) in my opinion. Then again, the iPad mini introduced a brand new design in 2012 that didn't make its way to the full sized iPad until the next year.
This seems to be the most likely design imo... Looks like it will have antenna bands. Everyone was saying and hoping that the lines were "markers for glass antenna windows" but that's not how it works, the chassis for case designers would have empty weird looking spots where the glass would be. I think Apple doesn't want to have glass end against a rounded metal surface.Aftermarket places have been selling 5s chassis mods sine iPhone 6 came out that basically make the 5s look like the 6. If these rumors are true about the new 4" model, I don't see why it wouldn't look pretty similar to these mods.

Sort of interesting hybrid 5/6 design. I like it actually, camera should be flush, and although there will be antenna lines, it looks like they'll be much thinner.
I don't think the design presented in the article looks like anything Apple would produce. But we say that about all sneak peaks of their new designs, so. We'll see what it turns out as.
Edit: oops I missed that this is just a mod sold since the 6 came out. I still think something like this is the most similar to what we probably will end up seeing nonetheless.
Nice mockup. I like the glass panels much better than the antenna lines. Moving the on/off button back to the top (i.e. not opposite the volume buttons as on the 6) would be a big improvement too. If the rumored specs are accurate, I'll get it on day one. Can't wait to carry a truly portable phone again that doesn't get in the way.
I'm not so sure, depending on what this phone actually is ... if there are two phones, it could be a good test case for Apple.The SE will have a 3.5 jack. Just as the 6 and 6s.
I agree about the volume buttons. But this is based on leaked schematics, not my design taste.
ive been happy with my iphone 6, though it is a bit big and always wprryin about bending it when you sit down or bend down to tie your shoe kind of sucks. the 6 has actually been my favorite phone by far though, that said.
im typing this reply on my touch 6g and while id have to get used to the key spacing and size on the keyboard again (just as i did when i first started using the 6), it really feels phenomenal in my hand and as someone who has all apps in folders along the top row of the home screen, its much easier to get to all of those folders on this ipod.
if it has 2GB of ram and 6S specs, it will be tough to ignore as an option.
if you really want to feel what an iphone should feel like, handle an ipod touch 5g or 6g, as you get a little more thinness which really is the sweet spot, and im not one obsessed with thinness.

This is true. I'm still rocking my iPhone 5 purchased in December 2012. The iPhone SE needs to have 2GB of RAM. Visually I'd like it to look like an iPhone 6 nano, pill shaped buttons, antenna bands and all. If it comes with an A8 that's acceptable(since it's in the appleTV and ipad mini 4 with 2GB of RAM), would appreciate the optics from at least the iPad Pro. I feel like this device should replace the iPhone 6 AND 5s in the lineup, but I realize that's wishful thinking.
The rendering is not from Apple. The actual buttons will be rhomboid, and very sharp to the touch. You can quote me on that. That doesn't make it any more "true" than the rendering. But you can quote me if you want.
Wait a few weeks and see what the actual phones from Apple look like. THEN start your meltdown.
This latest mock up design looks really good and if this really comes out on March 21 I'm buying it however I have a bad feeling that March 21st is going to come and go and this 5se will never even be mentioned. I hope I'm wrong but why would Apple go to so much trouble and expenses in a whole new design for the 5 when in reality the 6s and upcoming 7 is where they will put all their resources and money into.
And they were AT&T branded. The glass-back iPhone 4/4s are the classiest design, next the 5s specifically with touch-id. Going backwards and copying android with the weakening of the spine were definitely not good steps.
My theory on what the iPhone SE will look like: the exact same, from the outside, as the 5s. That would explain the unusual lack of parts leakage [unless "double down on security" finally happened]. With the 5s still being made, a shell that looks a lot like it [or is it] would be something easy to overlook and not deem worthy of leaking.
