Third-party apps are willing to pay a reasonable amount to access Reddit's API. What Reddit is asking for is not a reasonable amount and would bankrupt these apps.
yes because they cannot have third party apps. honestly exposing their api was a dumb idea in the first idea

I’ve deleted my ten year old account as well as deleted Apollo. It’s been a good run.

Tim Cook used similar language in an email where he addressed employees about the "vocal minority" (lol) that would be upset by that on-device CSAM detection garbage. Look how that turned out. This thickhead is also going to be in for a nice surprise.

There is a Reddit app? I have always accessed it with a web browser.

Why would anyone need an app?

OK, maybe they are using a cell phone and the tiny screen makes a browsers interface hard to use. Get a bigger screen
The app works great on a phone - but your solution is to have the user throw $1000 at a new phone? Get real.

Repeat along with the rest of the class: “my use case is not necessarily the same as everyone else’s use case”.

I have never got the appeal of Reddit - just a convoluted mess of posts. And it’s a free-for-all of bots and trolls.
That’s entirely dependent on where you‘re looking (every heard the parable of the blind men and the elephant?). I’ve engaged in much lively discussion and level-headed exchange of information and wit with like-minded individuals on Reddit over the years. “Convoluted mess of posts” is a term I would apply to Twitter - Reddit’s big win over Twitter is precisely that it imposes some order - there are subreddits on different topics. Inside each subreddit, there are posts on different subtopics. Inside/under each post, there are comments. Rather than the jumbled rats nest of comments and replies that is Twitter.

I don’t understand… 🤦🏻

How does the CEO of Reddit not realize how passionate his own user base is?
He does. He knows the passionate ones, like yourself will return to the forums they frequently like to visit.

Juli had some rough reporting on this one accusing CEO of lying, but I listened to Selig’s reasoning and audio. Selig defends language and threats as ‘joking’ and comes off pretty poorly himself.

Either google or open AI should just buy Reddit and incorporate the content in their chatbots. I think that’s what a lot of people use Reddit for: a search engine for answers on specific things

Yeah, that's cool but someone will start /r/apple2 and that'll become the default apple subreddit.

Reddit for better or worse is going nowhere because there's no alternative and nothing to stop someone starting a new subreddit with the same aim as the closed ones.

Most apple related subs im subscribed to are hardly active. But yes, if any of the ones i frequent stay off, im going to look for alternatives.

I dont care for apolloe or any app. I only use website versions for anything that has a website version.
