Also, Enron just tweeted that Reddit should fire their Janitorial staff.

And not pay office rent.

Billionaires don't get rich paying rent, he later tweeted.

Also, Enron, in a short moment of decency, told everyone they should ditch Reddit and move to KBi:

Well no content vs poorly managed content? At least SOME will stay if you have some content vs now where I have had 25 times now needed to use cache results from Google to see a solution to a problem I have. This is like if stackoverflow went on this train. Horrible for the users.
Point being that this is because Reddit is trying to offer an IPO. Neither scenario is a good look in trying to attract investors.

I'm a little sick of these activist reddit mods. The official reddit app is fine. It's nothing like when Elon Musk truly made the experience worse for everybody by killing off third-party twitter clients like Tweetbot, prioritizing paid users in replies, and generally boosting right-wing content. The official reddit app has all the functionality I need, with the glaring exception of not being able to quote posts, which is a little weird. But I'm sure that feature will come eventually. With the official twitter app, you can't even browse lists because the app forgets where you left off. It's infuriating because lists are how I used twitter. I had my mac lists, my politics list, my friend list, etc.

I personally find some of the subs like r/iphone, r/ipad, r/apple annoying. Its always 20 vague posts a day "Its not working, what do I do?". Call your carrier? Call Apple? How should we know? Maybe give us more information to help you? "I have a phone thats icloud locked, how can I bypass that?" Really?

Reddit, twitter, FB, etc., if it all went dark tomorrow it wouldn't even be a blip on my radar. Whomsoever is actually wasting their lives with these time vacuums needs to reevaluate just what life is, IMHO. "Ooh, ooh, can I be a mindless product for advertisers and trackers?! Ooh, me, me!" LOL. Not.

Good for you. We're all happy you took time out of your busy day to let us know how much you don't care. But you're forgetting that there are a lot of people out there that might not be as advanced and perfect as you are.

I love Reddit and it's been a relatively important part of my life for nearly two decades. I try to help people struggling with macOS, Apple gear, and hi-fi issues as much as I can; it's a small way I find meaning in my life; to at least try to leave the world in a tiny bit better state than it was before I showed up — or, at the very least, break even.

Reddit is unlike any other social media, in fact, I would never consider lumping it in with ****ter or Facebork. It's a vital resource for millions of people that need help; not just "how do I enter recovery mode" but truly important stuff like support for those struggling with addiction.

To be clear, a major concern of the mods is that the app doesn’t have the functionality they need to run the subreddits, which is different from the functionality you need to view the content. They say their job is difficult/time consuming and that this change makes it even more difficult/time consuming. That being said, I’m glad you aren’t affected.

Lets note here these are UNPAID moderators, who are modding these subs on their own time for nothing in return...

Who the hell you going to replace them with?

Steve is making a running for worst tech CEO with Elon
Exactly and I hope all the mods quit then. Without mods, the content will become garbage instantly, and users will leave in droves too.

Bye bye mods holding subs hostage.

r/apple will be seeing some new mods shortly along with all the other ones.
It's pretty ironic Steve (/u/Spez) has been claiming all these third-party apps have been making their money off the API from Reddit, and they should pay their dues to Reddit.

But Reddit's success comes from the community, especially their UNPAID moderators who are laboring for Reddit for FREE. I think the millions Reddit is saving for not having paid moderators, should easily cover any costs apps like Apollo add to redit.

Exactly. If these mods and ONLY THESE MODS (irreplaceable) are what makes the site. Just leave. If the communities turn to trash it will die anyway. But you are stopping me as a viewer to see content that’s been out there for years.
Yes is new mods are too lenient or strict, you'll lose long time users

Ignore button getting a good workout again in this post

Also, for someone who claims these "blackouts" are not affecting Reddits bottom line, he sure is acting like its making a big impact on their $$$//
That's because he's planning on taking Reddit public. He's trying to milk a successful IPO and show that they can pull in revenue. That's the whole reason behind this charging 3rd parties for data access.

Looks like a good time to sue for that $20,000,000 he'll need to keep Apollo going. ;)
Sue for what?

As noted numerous times, for every mod that quits, another 20 people will happily accept the free position and ego boost. They are not Gods, many of them are terrible and ban/remove posts based upon their personal ideas.

I don't use Reddit, in any fashion, and haven't for almost a year, but I don't get the hate for mods. What exactly do they do? I was on there for over a decade and I never, not a single time, got temp or perm-banned from a subreddit. I never had a response deleted by them. I never had any issue..

Don't get me wrong, the site and its clientele still suck something fierce, but I don't think mods are the problem. The woe-is-me, self-deprecating crap on everything losers users are. Maybe (probably) the mods are of the same group...Who knows...

The issue is not replacing bad mods with another bunch of bad mods: that's pretty easy to do and Reddit can literally do that overnight.

The issue is that good mods are far more scarce and far more valuable and that alienating them will likely also alienate the most valuable contributors to the site.

Reddit can ditch bad mods by the hundreds easily but they need to be much more careful about not alienating those who bring actual value to the site, since they can just as easily bring that value somewhere else and have a competitor of Reddit gain a lot of momentum while Reddit loses it.

Imagine Macrumors, but in addition to actual information, it's full of memes, people replying 150x with "this is the way", or F for respect, incels, people that want to **** on anyone that even remotely says anything positive, self-depricating losers, etc. I just wanted a place to follow hobbies, mainly hiking, cycling and rock-climbing, with zero politics.

It's really a dreadful place, unless you really really dig down in small groups. When I was there, I refused to subscribe to any subreddit with >10k members, never ever browsed /r/all or /r/popular, and it was still a problem. I deleted my account last year.

You definitely have to find your place. I forgot r/all even exists.

The CEO is an asshøle and a liar. I salute the strikers, but a lot of Reddit moderators are asshøles too. For example, they'll ban entire groups of people involved in a chat that's directly relevant to a sub's topic, just for jollies. Then you'll find you're banned from a bunch of other subs that you either didn't comment in or never visited. A lot of these "volunteers" are pathetic shut-ins who get a chubby from stealing other people's time.

It's a mess, just like any other place where the public gathers.

I think 4chan’s lack of popularity answers that question.
Humans often lack the ability to admit what they are doing is wrong. In this case, everyone higher up involved must be forced to see the result to believe what’s happening. They can deny all they want, their action will speak for themselves.
