You do realise WWDC is a developers conference right?

Ohhh, y'know, you're just not a software developer then. THIS IS CALLED WORLDWIDE DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE, for ****'S SAKE!

My company has a couple of apps in the app store, we've been looking forward to how home-kit was going to be integrated into the new Apple TV as a hub. I attended WWDC last year for the home-kit release and one of my co-workers is going this year to learn about the virtual room rumors we've been hearing about. Other than that, 200 new exciting features in iOS and OS X is not a primary focus for my company.

LOL, I've been checking out the profiles of many of this over-the-top replies of "ANGER" which makes no sense over a tech device that won't have any affect on their lives for not showing up at WWDC. The majority of these posters have been a member anywhere from 5-8 years, yet most of them have a post count of under 300. Starting to make sense. Plants. ;)

No, I'm not disappointed. I just don't care.

Yes, but that's not really the point. It may be true that they'll introduce an :apple:TV set top box in Fall or some other later date, but my original point was that now WWDC will be boring.

I will be traveling on Monday and won't be able to catch the keynote which disappointed me...until now. Now I don't care.

Oh but those weren't your words I highlighted? Yeah. And please don't reply saying the famous line "You took my words out of context". Those were your words. In any event you do care. You wouldn't have posted. ;)

They could at least preview the new model now with availability 2-3 months out. If they don't then it must be at least a year out. Damn!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Apple TV is the next Copeland. They are throwing all their hopes and dreams into the next Apple TV, which will never ship, while the current device suffers a slow death.

Lately, Apple TV has been so slow loading purchased movies and TV shows, I bought a Roku 3 instead of waiting for the launch of the newest version because I've lost faith in apple's ability to deliver a quality product. I was watching the final season of the Americans and in the middle of one of the episodes, it stalled. The next time I tried watching there was a message on the screen saying it would take one hour to load. The next time, it was two hours, then three and finally seven. On the Mac Rumor forum boards there are many complaints about this issue and consensus seems to be that it is that the latest version of iTunes that is responsible for the slow-downs rather than the hardware or slow wifi connection. To check it out, I bought a Roku 3, purchased The Americans from Amazon and the experience was great. No waiting, no slow-downs.

I've been an Apple fan for a couple of decades but since Tim cook took over from Steve, there's been a real decline in software development, often at the expense of bling. Gold laptops, phones and watches may look cool but if the software is buggy and if the programs aren't a pleasure to use, the bling factor is worse than pointless. iTunes is horrible, mail is so-so, Safari often has issues playing videos and I find myself using Chrome a lot. They've made Pages less functional than it used to be and Aperture pales in comparison to Adobe Light Room. iPhoto is pretty useless.

All this is really sad because Apple was a great company. Steve Jobs was innovative and very particular and when it came to software. While there were a number of software launches that had a Beta feel, bugs got ironed out fairly quickly and once that happened, they were a joy to use. Mavericks being a good example of a really disappointing product that could have been so much better. Ditto iOS8.

WTF? So what's the point of this WWDC? just update on how many phones they sold? I won't waste my time on that.

Not exactly going to be the best WWDC keynote by the sound of things.

They've got the cash to create their own channels and buy great content to put on them. At least that way they're not beholden to the TV networks. Set up a baseball channel, buy up all the baseball game rights then launch the channel worldwide for $10/month. Do the same with NFL, etc. If it works start buying up the rights to international sports.

No reason to be upset about no Apple TV, that is just Apple being Apple. First and foremost, Apple needs to grow. It won't grow, in the TV market, without content. That makes the hardware, which is dumb simple to design at this point, a low priority. Apple is about marketing and they won't take the next step without a big marketing splash. No splash, no need to upgrade the hardware.

No, I don't care and I've never said that famous line in my entire life because I recognize it for what it is, attempting to evade the fact that you were called out! I am just posting just to rant...because I can! Once I've ranted, I feel better and I can move on. Now you might say that I haven't since I'm still posting. And maybe you're right. But, maybe I just have that difficult to suppress desire to answer people who answer me! ;):D

Ah, ain't it grand to be part of a forum that feeds into our narcissism and neurosis?:D

If apple had come out with an updated ATV with an app store and Plex created an app for it, I would be interested it would give me the best of both Worlds. But really right now Roku with all its options and a really good Plex client is all I really need. Plex is on all my Devices and it really is my go to Streamer

Apple TV is growing without content. http://appleinsider.com/articles/14...2013-becoming-apples-fastest-growing-hardware

I've stopped using my Apple TV 2. Been waiting for an upgraded unit forever.
Apple TV 3 didn't impress plus it couldnt be jailbroken. :(
I'm hoping for an incredible, ground breaking, amazing piece of technology to use with my TV.
The current interface looks awful. Perhaps they could borrow from iOS or come up with something completely new.
Better web browsing, YouTube and PLEX is all I care about.

This is pretty apple like... This is how their WWDC conference is going to be...

They will first introduce their product line status with some info on hour great their stuff is and how well their stores are doing...
Then some videos of how much difference they have made to the world in general and apple fans in particular before showing off iOS 9 and OS X updates...
And then they will show teasers of the new Apple TV under works and all the new features... They might show us an late shipping/available date but I am definitely sure that Apple TV is coming this WWDC... At least as a tease! :)

But if Apple does screw up, then - "Apple... Please get a life because you are on track to turn into Hooli!"

For the love of GOD release a new Apple TV with an iTunes Server and Thunderbolt 3 storage (plus external storage and backup capability to cloud services and time machine), with ac wifi and 4k! Make it leading edge and it will overshadow the minimum spec ham-fisted competition.

I am ambivalent as far as streaming TV as I am tired of all the channel ******** anyway. As people like me continue dumping cable in droves they'll be begging for an outlet. The non-premium channels don't have the capital to create something sophisticated like HBO or Showtime so they are really between a rock and a hard place.

Give us apps (including Amazon Prime Video) and web ability and we'd be fine for now. The channels will come begging soon enough. If they were smart, they'd just remove the cable subscription requirement for their apps and fund with commercials.

That's too bad,
maybe apple will reveal it, and release a SDK, with a fall launch time frame.

Right before the last apple event, like 2 days before. There were several sites saying and posting, that there will not be a new macbook... but there was. this seems like a controlled leak by apple, either to lower expectations now so that people won't be dissapointed. or because they want to try to surprise us

i already bought two chromecasts (hate them) and a Fire TV Stick (love it) by now. all i am asking for is a UI overhall on my Apple TV doesnt even need to be a new box.

Apple is really late to the whole streaming partaay
Yes they are late but Apple has such a huge following it won't matter. Theyll sell 30 million and dominate the market especially with voice control and a logical UI. But im pissed they are late just the same.
