It doesn't really matter to me I will just switch off to another device with a better user experience. I think three years is ample time to get something cobbled together. The UI is too busy and it really isn't that great a user experience as even compared to my Xbox One which I tend to watch things like Netflix on more often these days. Really the only thing I use it for anymore is Podcasts.

All they are doing with this move is losing sales to the competition.

Not sure I'd want you helping me car shop, lol!
What would you do... look at the value of all my assets, & just offer that??
I imagine "just throw money at it" is the incorrect decision here. None of us want a higher price point... & obviously they put the most effort into their most lucrative products (thus the lack of refresh on ATV, Mac mini, & MacPro at normal intervals).
So, I imagine there's a LOT of hardballing going on.

That's not even close to what I said. But yes, I am sure there is hard balling going on as Apple probably looks like that scene in The Dark Knight with the joker sitting on the pile of money. My point is the resources are there for this to not take that long.

So there is really nothing about WWDC this year to even care about. They may show iOS9, but we won't get that till fall when the new phones come out. No new Apple TV, no Apple TV subscription service either. The only thing left is Apples new music service, but I don't care about that because I subscribe to Slacker Radio.

So again, this years WWDC is going to suck!

You do know what the D in WWDC stands for right?
Its not the world wide hardware conference now is it.
In 2015 we should know by now that most of apples new hardware is shown around october / november, with maybe slight peaks of them at a WWDC. Still tho no apple TV sucks, was looking forward to one so badly.

So WWDC will be

You forgot the line about many magical products in the pipeline. ;-)

This is a real shame. The Apple TV is such a great device that Apple pioneered...it goes back to before even the iPhone. I really wish they gave it the attention it deserves.

No Apple TV, no reason to watch this year's WWDC. Everything else will be boring. o_O

iOS9 = boring :(
OS X 10.11 = boring :(
Apple Pay = boring :(
Apple Watch OS = super boring
San Francisco Font for all = Yawn, can't get any worse than with the Helvetica light!

HomeKit, HealthKit, WhateverKit... have never took off = boring. :(

Everything seems so meaningless this year.
There are no hypes, no surprises, and the apple software is crying for fixes. :(

Dear Apple, just fix at least "Continuity/Handoff" and "Personal Hotspot", that'd be really exciting!

Thats the point of iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 - Fix the stability problems.

Maybe they actually do have a surprise this year?

The Xbox One (and 360 as well) is a much better media machine than the latest Apple TV. Apple TV's Netflix implementation is just atrocious right now.

Actually it is all that matters - the CEO has a legal obligation to maximise profits for shareholders.

Actually, do you know the CEO does NOT have a legal obligation to maximize profits for shareholders? Show me where this is law is written and I will buy you a new AppleTV, if they are released.

Take an iPhone 6 motherboard, stick it in a box with an HDMI connector, and sell it.

Wow, that's hard.
Oh, like you think it's so easy to design a box, do you?

And some rappers selling the music streaming service. Maybe they'll have that guy with the gold watch who was grabbing himself in the pic 9to5 had on their homepage the other day.

This was going to be the highlight of my first WWDC experience. What a bummer.

Hopefully they will still give us the ability to start developing apps for the Apple TV and not delay that as well. I could live with an App Store on the current hardware.

Got an Apple TV a few months ago not expecting much out of it but for 69 bucks I jumped on it. I'm in love with the thing! Airplay, trailers, hbo go, renting things from itunes and playing music on it, viewing photos...I like it so much I would've paid 200 for it...call me crazy but with all my apple products it is exactly what I needed. I firmly believe it has the potential to be Apple's ace in the hole. I'd love to see it get a modern a7-a8 chip, app store, subscription service, and maybe siri support. Could care less about siri though. Don't mind waiting longer as I just bought one recently and if it's delayed they're taking their good old time making it great...My current one has a lot of life left in it.

If there's an app store in the wings and they need developers to create apps for it, then I imagine they might preview the new hardware but not release it. Sneak preview of the Mac Pro is an obvious precedent

That would make sense

See im not convinced it will be a 4k box. As much as I agree it should be future (now?) ready you know what Apple can be like. Also here in the UK, 4k hasn't really taken off. Current 4k TV's have the older HDMI spec and there is absolutely no content for them outside of the fancy demo video showing flowers, cityscapes, and a nice asian lady eating fruit :/

I would agree - whilst there are plenty TV's in the likes of JL and Currys/PC World (washes mouth out with soap) there is absolutely no content.

Another thing to mention is consumer resistance. We were all told that 3D was the next big thing and some early adopters even rushed out to buy into the whole thing. Now, tell me again, how did that go?

WWDC is not meant for hardware announcements, save hardware FOR DEVELOPERS.

Usually, Apple will introduce software APIs that will work with new hardware released in the fall.

It may, and I stress may be Apple's ace in the hole. However, there are now so many other options out there that Apple may well struggle. Think, Smart TV's Chromecast, Amazon Fire to mention only but a few. I use my ATV less now than I have ever done. Both my PVR's and the TV itself have access to lots of streaming services so I rarely need to bother with ATV anymore.

I think once they revamp it the halo ecosystem will attract potential buyers who don't have a streaming box. Even if it's sales are minor it still ties in with everything. It'll take a lot to be an ace and I completely agree with your post.
