Lol at all these responses.

They're not going to refresh the hardware until the streaming service is ready.

Tim's obviously doubling doubling down on secrecy (giving out false info hopefully), In other news there'll be 200 new features for both OS X & iOS & a few new API's for developers for a new product category that might be globally launching soon (next year) if we're lucky!:)

I'm starting to not believe these rumors... There are too many saying Apple isn't going to show X, Y, or Z... According to these rumors, Apple will only show OS X and iOS updates at WWDC. haha

If there's an app store in the wings and they need developers to create apps for it, then I imagine they might preview the new hardware but not release it. Sneak preview of the Mac Pro is an obvious precedent

Yes, but with the Mac Pro there was no fear of any competitor being able to or interested in copying the form factor and design. And the features were pretty much your normal basic features that every computer has.

I'm disappointed. But I also just recently got my Fan TV to work with my older stereo system by splitting the HDMI into an HDMI video and an optical sound output. So I've got streaming live TV with all my cable shows now connected to the big projector in the living room. Just in time for NBA finals which start tomorrow.

I am sooooo disappointed as well. As others have said, this was the one thing at WWDC that I was excited about, being that I have been waiting what seems like forever to add an ATV to my other TV's but didn't want to buy an old gen model. Well I guess I'll just have to wait longer and hope the wait is worth it. :(

haha

That really wouldn't be weird considering this is a developer's conference.

But sure... there's usually some hardware revealed at WWDC.

There are too many credible agencies all reporting the same thing though.

I wonder if the reason might have something to do with the lack of their US-only TV service thingy...

Wow. So all we have for WWDC is two maintenance releases, iOS 9 and OS X, and native apps for the watch. Totally worth a $$$$ ticket. Since they booked the event hall for 2 hours, does this mean that when the shows over at 11, Tim will just stand there in silence with only crickets sounding and then to break the silence say "So...we have this room for another hour..." More silence. "What's everyone having for lunch?"

I think what is happening is that these "credible" agencies are suffering from a severe case of "foot in mouth" syndrome. They all put their reps on the line by saying that Apple is coming out with this or that. Then they find out it's not true and probably never was true and all of the sudden it's "oh, uh, Apple changed their minds and will show it 'later!' Yeah, that's it!"

Why on earth do you think that just because it's delayed they won't show it on stage? Nothing has changed here. Just the release date.

WTF! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Just WOW, Apple! How many FREAKING years does it take to update the Apple TV? And I was sooo hoping for it at WWDC because YouTube no longer works on my old model! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
It's not that it takes so long to up date Apple TV, it's that sales of it in its current state are acceptable. Given how limiting it is in comparison to the competition, people still buy Apple TVs, lots of 'em.

I bought 2 when the 2nd gens first came out. After seeing how slowly they were moving things along and how stuff that was supposed to work didn't do so reliably, I moved on to a Roku 3/Plex configuration. Life is too short to be waiting around for something that might never happen.

Guaranteed there will be another report, tomorrow or by Sunday that states "AppleTV production all going according to plan. Ready for WWDC 2015."

Bank on it.

Yesterday I was starting to respect Tim Cook more due to his statement on privacy, now I'm back to wondering just WTF he is "running" or "managing" at Apple, exactly. His major talent so far seems to be giving people lots of rope to really 'f up the Apple product line and services.

But at least they are making record profits, and that's all that matters.
