Yeah! I'd don't watch much TV and get exercise instead. And I'm tired of Apple quickly becoming a consumer electronics company instead of staying a great computer company like it started out as.

And It has alwasys seemed funny to me that no one else that I know of thought this but when I first saw the WWDC 2015 poster with that black rounded-corner box the first thing I thought was MAC MINI.

Honestly. For a company that has enough cash reserves to purchase every single team in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, along with Real Madrid, Barcelona, ManUnited, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool (look it up if you don't believe me); would at least make you think they can negotiate their way through these "contracts".

I have been waiting patiently for 2 years to add a second AppleTV to the house so I don't have to keep moving it from bedroom to living room. "A new AppleTV is about to be announced" is constantly rumored, so I have waited. I thought for certainty that a new one was forthcoming when they lowered the price.

NYTimes is not always correct, but they are a pretty reliable outlet that someone at Apple leaks info to (officially/unofficial back channel) just before these events to set expectations, so I believe this rumor.
Not sure I'd want you helping me car shop, lol!
What would you do... look at the value of all my assets, & just offer that??
I imagine "just throw money at it" is the incorrect decision here. None of us want a higher price point... & obviously they put the most effort into their most lucrative products (thus the lack of refresh on ATV, Mac mini, & MacPro at normal intervals).
So, I imagine there's a LOT of hardballing going on.

Pathetic. Hey Tim, let's Double Down on Gold and Maxfields. You sure as hell remind me every day it's no longer Apple Computer. Remember how Apple got here Tim. You're creating an artificial bubble based on iPhone Revenue .Your supposed to be the CEO now Tim. You're still functioning as a COO and not keeping your eye on the ball. Too many Generals. Not enough listening or R&D.

Not everyone was "Born to work at Apple." Tim. :apple:

Actually, they will probably spend more time on the Apple Watch SDK update for the fall more than anything else. If they do, then it will be quite disappointing given the small number of actual Apple Watch users.

This is a good point, they may update the Watch software, I wouldn't mind if they did considering I'm one of the people who own one. I can't see us getting the iPad Pro, iPads are usually saved until a October event, however I could see there being a split screen feature as part of IOS 9 shown off and perhaps even demoed on stage.

Apple can't win can they?? If they did unveil a new Apple TV at WWDC and it had major issues, people would complain.

Now that its been delayed, people still complain!!

This doesn't bother me anyway. I'm looking forward to iOS 9 and OS X 10.11. That does it for me.

If "it had major issues"?

As has been pointed out, they've had more than 3 yrs to deliver a new box and app store. It clearly can't be hardware issues. Apple hasn't had much of a problem dumping dozens of network apps on the current ATVs over the past couple of years. Proof-positive that it doesn't take vastly improved hardware. If it's software, then they might as well throw in the towel. There's been plenty of time to figure out the software.

As for the TV networks, no one outside of the US is going to get any of them. The most anyone outside of the US can hope for is an app store. It doesn't take 3 yrs to make this happen.

Apple's "we'll get there, when we get there" attitude is going to back fire on them one of these days. We might see that soon enough with the new music service.

Don't they need to focus on the Watch, and getting apps for that right now? They can't introduce a "revolutionary new product" then within a few months another one.

Didn't Tim Cook say that Sony faded because it tried to do too much? Maybe right now they've decided public consciousness needs to be focused on the Watch? At least for a few more months.

Careful negotiation has in part led to Apple having so much cash.

Agreed. Apple has set the standard for negotiations. But then, "Hollywood" content owners have been pretty effective negotiators over the years, too.

I don't expect to be able to subscribe to the 1 or 2 cable channels that I want (I have OTA TV + Netflix) any time soon, but, it would be nice, so, I hope Apple succeeds. I would still like to buy a new Apple TV with a 64-bit processor, more memory, and 4K support now, and, get the extra channels later.

Oh, FFS.... We've waited long enough surely.... Although i'd be surprised if they didn't release the API for the ATV app store though; that will need to be in place months before the device hits the shops and of course last year Apple said they wanted the WWDC to be all about the software so it would make sense them not showing any hardware. Also, the WWDC logo has clearly got an ATV on it! It would be a massive disappointment is it was all about the watch again and i doubt if they have enough in iOS9 to fill 2 hours of a keynote.

So WWDC is already DOA. Great.
How about if it was delivered with a Chinese voiceover? Interested again maybe ?

On a serious note, though I don't mind OS improvements, Apple TV had me really interested this time, Damn!!!

Interesting... seems it is far from ready then, Apple could literally knock up a new Apple TV in a day or 2, but I bet this is going to be more to do with the services, it's not ready for the new TV services, also I bet it's the home automation that is holding it back.

If I was Apple I would delay it for as long as it takes because if they are entering the home automation market, then that truly is new ground that not a lot of big players take part in.

While normally nothing is for sure, Apple added the AppleTV into the actual invite, yes the center of the invite has the exact shape and proportions of an AppleTV. So we will see AppleTV at the event.

Guys... Square with rounded corners. It was a square with rounded corners.

Could mean Apple TV, or new Mac mini, or even... iOS app icons. In fact, as it's a developer conference, iOS app icons seem the most likely. Especially as they've used the same shape with previous WWDCs without updating the Apple TV.

I'm shocked this has gone from jokey speculation at the invite to people saying Apple as good as confirmed a new TV.
