Yes. The "Waiting for reboot" screen was killing me too. I have a 2g iPhone. Running redsn0w 0.8 on my Power PC iBook. I got stuck at "waiting for reboot", but it did say, at first, that it was jailbreaking. But then it would get suck at "waiting for reboot". What I FINALLY found out was all I need to do was just unplug the cable from the phone and then plug it back in. Right after that, the phone screen turned white and everything continued as it should!

Hope this helps!

Thanks a ton!!!!
Pretty gutsy of you to try that during the JB process, lol. Nice work!!!

Hi, just wanted to say, THANKS!!! I had the same issue, redsn0w got stuck on waiting for reboot, for about 10 minutes, it was the first time that this had happened to me, as I´ve JB and UL iPhones in the past. Though, the reason I re JB my iPhone was to get 3.0.1 on it, but for some strange reason, I´m able to restore my phone to 3.0.1 via iTunes, but redsn0w won´t recognize the ISPW file, that I downloaded directly from iclarified.

Now, I´m restoring back to 3.0 and that´s when I got the waiting for reboot stuck. Now is being JB as I write.

Thanks!!!

BTW Any clue on the 3.0.1 issue?

That advice really sounds like a stupid one - but, it really works. How could one know! I spent hours waiting and figuring out all possible solutions. :)

I'm using redsn0w 0.8. It hangs after uploading second stage at "Waiting for reboot." I tried unplugging and that hasn't helped unfortunately :(

I'm getting a notice in Vista that I'm not using my fastest USB ports, but I've tried using all the different ports and that hasn't helped.

Any other tips?

Your method worked like a charm on the first try... after multiple previous failed attempts, and a few broken household items, I am looking at the pineapple logo now with the caption "Flashing NOR"... whatever that means, it's honest... My iPod Touch is now successfully jailbroken sukkkkas.

thank you

I spent alot of time trying to figure this out. Thank you for telling me to do this!

I'll add my thanks to the list as well.
First time I unplugged, it worked great!

I'm used to using the pwnage tool but wanted to at least get to 3.0.1 so used redsn0w. Got stuck, unplugged, plugged back in, worked a treat!

Danke!

Thanks Rashiki!

What version iPod are you using? (i.e. Gen 1, Gen 2 (early or late), Gen 3).

Redsn0w will only JB certain iPods. You may need to use pwnage tool for other models and Gen 3 is not JB'able at this time.

Same problem with my iPhone 3G. I tried 3 times and no go. I had it previously JB without cydia thinking I wouldn't need it. Just wallpaper, multi tasking, and battery gauge.

I have JB 3 iphone 3Gs using Redsn0w, version 0.9.5b5-4. No problems at all.

Restore to a clean 4.0. Then run the thing. I am not sure what else to say about it. It is very easy and pretty fast.

What kind of failure are you getting?

confused for a second. 3G's not 3Gs's - geez. I have no clue how to correctly punctuate that, but it's worth distinguishing that you are jailbreaking the 3G not the 3GS

Redsn0w only works for.... (straight from DevTeam blog)

"For now, the redsn0w beta release supports only the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G at today’s 4.0."

If your iPod is anything but a 2G, Redsn0w won't work.

I've restored every time after trying to JB. And it just hangs waiting for reboot. The unplug trick doesn't help.

And this is just a 3G, not an3GS?

3G

But I tried recboot... Didn't work. so since I was in DFU mode I just downgraded to 3.1.3 and was amazed at how good a DFU restore is. Speed on 3.1.3 is soooooooo much better then 4.0 even when using themes and backgrounder.

Yep. 3.1.3 is much faster. I guess you did everything I suggested. Can't understand why it didn't work. Were you j/b at 3.1.3? If not, you may not have actually gotten into DFU mode.

Real DFU mode has a BLACK screen, not the screen showing the icons to plug into iTunes. If you are seeing ANYTHING, you are not in DFU mode.

I had the same problem as you, it would just sit and "Wait for Reboot" even though i rebooted it several times.

What i had to do is download a program called
RecBot' and i used the program to put the device into Recovery mode and once i did that, it worked like a charm.

So download RecBoot and give it a try. You will have to copy several .DLL files from your /Program Files/Common Files/Apple folder and place it into the same program as your RecBoot.
