'One can not live on Ethnics alone'...

Ethnic

I used the typo to create a very high brow, channel 4 Peep Show-esque joke about you using people of Ethnic origin as sustenance.

Oh how my comedy backfired.. :(

This purchase is equivalent to stealing. The Apple store pricing was obviously in error. Apple took the ethical high road and sent you the macbook for $109 which shows that they honor their commitments. Apple did not have to send you the unit.

I hope you take a moment to think about this transaction. Imagine that YOU own a business that sells widgets in a window with a price marked $1000 on a sign. One day a zero falls off the sign and the price shows $100. Someone walks in off the street and asks for the the $100 widget. Do you sell it to the person? What if they ask for 10 widgets at the $100 price? Do you explain that there was an error on the sign? If you did sell the person a $1000 widget for $100, how would you treat that person when they come back into the store? Your store would lose money if you sold the widget for $100.

Yes, you did get a deal on the Macbook. Apple did honor the deal even though we all know that the pricing was clearly in error. The only person who doesn't have any honor or ethics in this transaction is the buyer!

I know you are happy you got a good deal and beat THE MAN. I hope you see that your ethics are wrong. The ethical thing for you to do would be to call Apple and talk to them about this transaction.

TFR

P.S. Rather than call Apple and ask for an exchange on the RAM in your $109 Macbook, I hope you take your 2 x 512MB RAM modules and shove them up your nose! :)

Oh come on, no one need pity Apple. Honour, ethics... don't make me laugh.

___________

That was a very lucky buy, mate. Enjoy!

This reminds me of the time that I walked into an Apple store and was looking at the Final Cut Studio box. "WTF? Hundreds of dollars for some plastic and cardboard and paper?" And THE MAN was like "I see your point. That'll be $15.64.

Fairness has nothing to do with anything in a capitalist society :) The only ethics involved are giving what you said you'd give.

If you knew anything about running a succesful business I don't think you would have written such a jealousy filled response lol. My father has been in business for over 20 years and I'm attending school for business. The only way you're going to get repeat customers is by making them happy. As soon as you piss off your customer, they go around telling everybody they know that you're a horrible, dishonest company. Granted, one man is not going to ruin Apple's reputation, though I'm sure it's possible. Apple is such a huge company, I don't think one sale where they lose $1000 is going to take them off the stock matket. I know if it was me in the OP's position I would have been a little angry if Apple had not honored the listed price. Clearly a mistake was made, but if Apple were to not honor the price, I'd probably almost remember them as being dishonest, not manning up to their mistake. Plus, we're not talking about some Ma and Pa store on the corner, this is Apple, a multi-billion dollar company. Besides the fact that I don't undestand how anyone in their right mind can consider that stealing.

that's right a multi-billion dollar company versus a poor kid!hehe

maybe u were 1 of the guys after me that saw the $109 price and tried to click it but said out of stock..?haha sorry

apple made me happy so it's not a total loss:rolleyes:

Hey Bams!

I have been following this thread, but I think I missed something. Did you get your machine? Was your credit card charged the amount that you saw on the receipt? I hope so! ;)

It's like finding someone who misspells the description on eBay and you are the only bidder and get a great deal. It's all good!

If you have been following this thread you could have seen the pictures he posted of his machine...please read the entire thread before posting.

Although I almost 100% believe he got his comptuer, I will say all we saw was a refurb. MacBook and a copy of the online order form printed out- no actual invoice from the box was pictured as requested by a previous poster...haha as Bams27 would say.

Enjoy the Macbook!

refurbs are usually in very good to perfect shape, so you probably won't be able to tell yours from a brand new one. the only difference, usually, is that it comes in a plain brown box instead of the regular package.

actually i got a refurbed macbook last year for my gf for xmas and it came in a white macbook box just didnt have the pictures and logos on the outside

but what a heck of a deal congrats i would of jumped on it as well

Lol, someone is jealous. Guess he never went to any deal sites. Maybe he should went to those deal sites and teach us about ethics.

Man, I am jealous too, nice deal you got there. All you have to do is buy 3Gb of RAM and that thing will fly.

hey its really true i was so happy when fedex knocked on my door!hehe it was a brown box, the one for refurbished products! anyway this is my 1st mac and im experimenting!hehehe btw i have cox 4 internet..what do i do to have a wireless internet on my macbook? thanx!:) i love :apple:

Congrats dude. Not many people (if anyone other than you) can say they bought a MacBook for $109 from Apple ;-)

bams27, still have that laptop serving you well?

I honestly couldn't believe it, but I can understand it to be genuinely true now.

That's was a fantastic deal you pulled!

Well done!
