Still can't share trade secrets.

I'm not sure it's so cut and dry. I spent a bit of time looking online and cases where trade secret protections are applicable seem to only relate to theft by employees and scenarios where there is opportunity for the information to be used by the party who obtained it. "Use" meaning to derive economic benefit from. Unless Kang is planning on working for a consumer electronics company or is planning on selling the info to them I'm not sure trade secret protections apply, though I'm certainly open to being shown specific counterpoint cases.

Apple's business model includes controlled leaks to hype their products. Entertain the troops while they unbox their new Apple gadgets, rumors keep them coming back. Apple knows that leakers need to appear somewhat credible and what better endorsement than Apple is thinking of suing them: too may reliable leaks. Now we will hang on Kang's every word, pay no attention to non Apple products and give away our hard earned dollars to Cupertino. Tim Cook wins again.

Apple is going after one of the 3 great Dahar Masters:(...

Kor, Kang and Koloth.

As long as they leave Kor alone, I'll over look this.;)

There is only room for one Kang in my heart.

That's odd...it's not paywalled here; either that or I must have had some left on my monthly free allotment of free articles. I would NEVER pay for the New York Times. I did have to shut off Yesscript to see the photos.

they have the right to leak and we have the right to scold. i don't understand where you are coming from with this
Nah. That article was something different. People were REALLY ticked at the guy who leaked those images/schematics, but don’t bat an eye at other leaks or scold other leakers. It was weird… That’s the problem.

If you hate leaks, hate all leaks. No point in bashing that one person.

If Apple isn't careful, this will chill all discussion. And interest in Apple products will wane. And then there's no need for everyday developers, because fear of punishment. I'm now reconsidering my own plans to purchase M1 versions of iPad and MBP.

Just look at that um, something-something football league in the US. There was a day when it was popular. Now, it's just a sack full of overpaid minor-league "meh".

We call it Freedom of Speech in America. You are free to speak and they are free to sue you.

What criticisms has he aired about Apple in the past years, anyone aware?

Now thats a true leaker...nobody will send to Jon Prosser nothing because hes just a guesser

Of course! The "true leakers" are all Chinese. Residing in China. That's where the vast majority of Apple hardware is manufactured and assembled, including some test-run prototypes.

Naturally, the leakers are embedded among Apple's numerous suppliers and manufacturers like FoxConn, FoxConn, and FoxConn. 😆

I don’t think any discussion will be chilled especially if company secrets were going out the door.

And if you’re claiming you aren’t buying Apple products because Apple is attempting to curb corporate espionage, then you weren’t buying these products to begin with.

(But I just bought, unexpectedly, an iPad Pro…so I guess Apple nets zero today)

Just an unnecessary and short-sighted move on Apple’s part—the leaks are what lead to lines around the block when Apple releases a new product. Do they even pay attention to their consumer base and the dozens of websites such as this one that support their ecosystem? What could possibly be beneficial from a PR standpoint, let alone sales, by shrouding their R&D initiatives in such secrecy? In marketing, leaks are what secrets are for to build interest. Have they not heard of influencers? It ain’t a new-fangled phenomenon—other retail companies court influencers like crazy. Bizarre.

Don't back down Kang! Keep at it. Funny how Apple claims he is "misinforming people" when his leaks don't seem to be anywhere near as damning as some other leakers that post things. Apple should maybe focus on their employees leaking information instead of outsiders not employed by Apple.
Easier said than done. He's gonna need a pile of cash to stand up to apple. 😭.

What will we do without the leakers? Being surprised at an Apple event? I won’t know how to react? 🤣
