People here just want to bash on Jon ProsserDespite the leaker reporting, hasn’t most of the analyst reporting from Kuo/Gurman etc. on this indicated that MBP’s would enter production in the second half of the year i.e Q3. That would mean production ramp in July and shipping late Aug/September.
Was not RELEASED at WWDC, though, right? Actually released much later?Cheese grater Mac Pro in 2019. Pro Display XDR too. Note the WWDC19 logo at the bottom left.
I think it depends on what you mean by “released”. Like if you consider 2019 a “release” when they just talked about it and didn’t actually “release” anything, that would help to explain your 65% number. Oh, and I’d imagine you’re not counting ALL WWDC’s, but just the ones from a certain year forward?Apple has released hardware at 65% of WWDCs
Barring any major holiday, Apple could announce an event on ANY day in ANY month and everyone that wants to drive traffic to their site (which is everyone with a site) would be talking about it in the days leading up to it and for weeks after it. Even the daytime puff shows know that tossing in an Apple reference is good for business.Because no one will watch in August- everyone's on vacation and tuned out. And an October announcement runs up against iPhone season and shipping misses the important back-to-school / work crowd.
Well, I'm sure they could if they wanted to but I don't think they would ideally want to announce in August. That's why if it's not today, it will be September.Barring any major holiday, Apple could announce an event on ANY day in ANY month and everyone that wants to drive traffic to their site (which is everyone with a site) would be talking about it in the days leading up to it and for weeks after it. So I'm sure you have screenshots proving that then.He only shaved off his eye brows because everyone called him out for being wrong all the time. Prosser is notorious for deleting tweets to try and hide the fact that he is wrong more often than he is correct.
Yup. Google translate may not be perfect, and there may be some hedging here, but it's not super clear. See my above post. I'm not sure why everyone would treat this as gospel. there seems to be some hedging...Unless I missed it, the person who wrote this article didn't bother with an English translation. So here goes"
First tweet: "I feel no." (hardware).
Second tweet: "I feel that 14-inch and 16-inch should not be so fast."
You're picking nits now. I think most people here are looking for an announcement, and not necessarily a same day release. Was not RELEASED at WWDC, though, right? Actually released much later?

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, it's definitely more hedged than his usual leak posts.Yup. Google translate may not be perfect, and there may be some hedging here, but it's not super clear. I’m not a developer but still love seeing what features are coming to all my Apple hardware in the fall every year. I do all my work on MacOS/iOS all day every day! Why would I not want to know about new capabilities for the most important software in my life?Exactly. I’m an iOS developer and I’m pretty jazzed for WWDC. It doesn’t matter to me whether there‘s hardware or not.
The fact Apple store hasn't gone down means 2 possibilities.
- There is no hardware announcement at all.
- There is hardware announcement, but without ordering date or the date is in a distance future.
Strange response. Prosser might be right or wrong and they could announce but the analysts sources are usually supply chain based hence the production/shipping timelines tend to be a more accurate indicator of when the machine might get in the hands of consumers. It is rare for Apple to announce product so far ahead of shipping but not unheard of.People here just want to bash on Jon Prosser
see my post #200. This is sarcasmOf course, his / her most recent tweet in response to 'if we're basing this on feeling then how can we expect to be reliable' was '我本来就是说着玩的 我一点也不靠谱 当个玩笑看就好啦' which according to google translate means 'I'm just talking about playing, I'm not reliable at all, just look at it as a joke'...
Ahh, that's true, they could show off the chip in the current Mac mini. Good call.Today will be like WWDC '20 - announce next gen chip, ship a scaled down model to devs in the current Mac mini.
Later in year we get an event for new MacBooks, which will also reveal number of cores etc.
Announcement timeline for Macs becomes like iPad and iPhone – reveal new OS in summer at WWDC, reveal new hardware in autumn.
Ahh, that's true, they could show off the chip in the current Mac mini. Good call.
Massive disappointment there will be no MacBooks, however, if true.
None of the most reliable ones did.Geez, so many "reliable sources" "confirmed" there would be new hardware announcements at WWDC...![]()
