Technically, if just one or two people order a Macbook Pro during the stream, "new" Macbook Pros are coming... Hehe ..

If true, and, with the store not going down as of yet, it's looking like it is, it will be fun seeing Prosser scramble to save this one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he botch something at the 2020 WWDC as well?

MacRumors, stop writing false articles based on Prosser’s gibberish. He’s almost always wrong lol

expected this, John Prosser may be good, but the timing is off. more than likely a dull WWDC this year folks!

Or it could just be that, like everyone else, and like they mentioned themselves in the last earnings call, Apple is impacted by COVID and the global chip shortage and things just aren't far enough through the manufacturing pipeline to announce yet.

Prosser claimed there would be new MBPs today. No new MBPs == Prosser wrong, yet again. His track record is worse than poor at this point.

timing is off means wrong. Everyone can predict that there will be new MacBook Pros. If the timing is wrong what’s the value?

alright, y'all angry people around here have established a new low that i didnt think was possible. i get that the cesspool of the MR community just absolutely *needs* to have something to be violently angry about, and Prosser just happens to be the flavor of the year but...like....

*he wasn't the only one who said MBPs are going to be announced today.*

*and he's not the only one MR posted about.*

*so please for the love of god get over yourselves.*

Gurman never said WWDC.
True, but he said that Apple was readying new laptops. Based on his article, WWDC was only plausible window for announcements. Apple won't set a July event.
For the past couple of weeks, everyone's got excited, all tech websites have been anticipating the release. Yet Apple would have done nothing to damper the excitement? Love2dream is not a proper unofficial channel to manage expectations, and it's too late to do it now anyway.
I say love2dream is just speculating and wants more views.

For the record, only Prosser and Wedbush were predicting MacBooks at WWDC with any certainty.

Prosser is infamous for being wrong.

Wedbush was outright wrong about the products being launched at the Spring Event.

Even if any hardware were announced today the Store will not go down. Since pre-orders will not start until a later day.

“WWDC was the only plausible window for announcements.”

That’s unfortunately only your interpretation because that’s simply not true. Not sure why people dismiss August or October.

Because no one will watch in August- everyone's on vacation and tuned out. And an October announcement runs up against iPhone season and shipping misses the important back-to-school / work crowd.

Maybe Apple waited to see how many initiated returns were submitted last Friday and as soon as they tallied up the returns they thought “ok, screw you guys! No new hardware announcements FOR YOU! We know what you’re up to”

(not at all possible but hilarious to think about)

There have been countless number of iPads, Macs, and MacBooks launched in October in the past decade. You really need to look at history a bit closer.

The idea that “vacation” will rule out a launch is silly. As if Apple weren’t the most valuable brand in the world. This isn’t the 1950s. People have access to the Internet and news wherever they go.

Nothing today = October announcement with shipping in November, probably constrained so most won’t get them until Q1 2022 IMO… perfectly lined up for miniLED delays,..

An hour to go and the store still isn't down. I'm not holding my breath anymore for new macs today.

In response to a tweet asking if there will be hardware announcements at WWDC 2021, cryptic but reliable leaker "l0vetodream" suggested there won't be any. In a follow-up tweet, he seems to have ruled out new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models being unveiled at this time, suggesting that it is still too early for an announcement.

wwdc-2021-details.jpg

Leading up to WWDC, which kicks off today with Apple's Keynote at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, there had been some rumors that at least one new MacBook Pro model with Apple silicon would be announced at the developer conference. However, supply chain reports from outlets like Nikkei Asia and DigiTimes have claimed that mass production of new MacBook Pro models will not begin until the second half of 2021.

The leaker also hinted at a new user interface for at least one of Apple's software platforms, although he did not specify which one, and said that Apple plans to announce improvements to its smart home framework HomeKit.

WWDC is Apple's annual developers conference, and it is typically focused on software, with Apple expected to unveil iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS 12, watchOS 8, and tvOS 15. However, as noted by Stephen Hackett at Six Colors, Apple has made at least one hardware announcement at 65 percent of WWDC keynotes over the last two decades.

Just prior to WWDC 2020 last year, l0vetodream accurately revealed the macOS Big Sur name and several other details.

Lovetodream doesn't normally get things wrong. Maybe he meant something else but it looks like this won't be the most exciting WWDC ever. On the Plus side Prosser might have to shave his eyebrows again.

They've announced and shipped in fall many times. But this year is different due to the pandemic- this year will be a huge going back to school/work year, where they can sell A LOT of machines. And if someone with any degree of business acumen is looking at when they'll sell the most MacBooks- they have to be shipping by Sept/Oct en masse.

BTW, if you're so good with history and you think August is silly, please tell us many times Apple has had an August hardware announcement?

The current 16" MBPs are also still quite available. Wasn't it the case in the past that the availability always deteriorated somewhat before a release?
Maybe they are readily available because almost no one at this point wants to spend over $2200 on an Intel laptop.
