I always think l0vetodream's source is supply chain information. So Apple could still show off their scaled M1x chips today but not make the 14"/16 available to buy until say Sep/Oct/Nov .
That's not very Apple. It's been a long time since they've announced new machines that aren't available for months.

Nah, they'll have to ship before September unless there's been an unbelievable delay. And that would be unlike Apple, because, well, hardware is what they do.

I think the OP meant they would show off a chip but not the machines themselves. That would still be very much unlike Apple. Still all in on new hardware today and think L0vetodream and others are wrong. Apple may have simply buttoned up on leaks harder this year...

Apple already has a full line up products to sell to College students. The iMac just recently released. This market you speak of doesn’t need cutting edge tech.
umm.. Imacs are not practical in a fully in person college year.. And yes, Brand new 16' MBP are something people going to college will buy (or beg their parents to buy)

Not sure if true but wonder if someone like Prosser has a poor source or a “mole” leaking info to him

Apple could perhaps more easily trace back who is leaking false info especially as they are trying to tighten security

on a semi related note as much as people have speculated about large iPad OS changes I haven’t seen any leaks to suggest that. Would love to be wrong as I just got the new pro, but at most the rumors have said slight UI tweaks to notifications and widgets and nothing major
Pretty sure Apple knows who his source is after the last debacle that got proved wrong. Not sure why anyone would risk their job to leak info to a "leaker"

When was the the last time Apple released hardware on WWDC? There is possibility of software release but most likely just dev beta.

Just wondering if its too early to post this...

Would be disappointing but not surprising. With global chip shortages everywhere, I can imagine it would be very difficult to launch a new, high-demand product right now.

It's too early imo, the 24" iMac only just got released and it's still not really released as you can't even get it from Apple until mid to late July.
With chip shortages and already plenty of new products to catch up on, I don't think we'll see new Apple Silicon until the 4th quarter.

Well, the Apple Store isn’t shut down. If it is still up in 1-2 hours, I doubt we will see any hardware news at WWDC
The rumor was not "new MacBooks for sale" it was "new MacBooks announced".

With all of the supply issues right now, I would not be surprised if Apple had an announcement ready but may have had to delay it if components were not available in time.

Have you ever heard of Osborne? Why in the world would Apple do that to themselves?

Has Apple ever shown the world a new chip months before shipping it? No.

Apple store is still not down. So don't know whether new Macbooks are coming today. Will be nice if it comes though.

With all the announcements and news in the last week, I was starting to think this Keynote would have been 3 hours long. There is a reason why Apple has multiple events throughout the year.

This isn't just Prosser though. It was also leaked by Mark Gurman who is pretty reliable usually.
But people love to pile on Prosser.

Realistically, exact timing is probably hard to get right in rumors as Apple may hold dates open for announcements and may decide to change the dates components are delayed. Right now, the supply chain is so chaotic that it's not surprising of something is delayed. They could have an announcement ready to go but just one component being delayed could put a hold on the announcement.

That’s a shame. Hopefully we see lossless audio launched today and some kind of indication that iPadOS 15 will take more advantage of the power of the M1.

My personal hope is for macOS and iPadOS dual installation with instant switching based on connected hardware, and full access to macOS User folders from the Files app in iPadOS (along with anything else that can be shared between the operating systems). /wishlist

This would probably require the higher end iPad Pro configurations. Apple may also decide to restrict the feature to the iPad Pro 12.9" model for now, *if* it happens.

Other than that, multi-user support would be great, especially for schools and families.

Chinese speaker here. He is saying he's just playing and it's not reliable nor based on anything. He says to view it as a joke.
Understanding a language is not just about understanding the meaning of individual words/characters.

You missed the sarcasm in the tweet you're referring to, and therefore you misunderstood the tweet completely. Someone initially messaged the leaker expressing doubts at his "feelings" (which is the tongue-in-cheek way in which he was saying there's no new hardware). So the leaker replied essentially saying "you shouldn't trust me at all. I'm just fooling around," clearly in jest.

There are some other replies from the leaker today where he was far more affirmative in confirming no new hardware. He seems confident of this.
