It's actually still quite good, but everyone ignores all the times when he's right. Oh, well.
Really? I'd like to know the last time he was the breaking leaker and it was actually 100% accurate.

* He claimed colors for the iMac, but was completely wrong about _which_ colors.
* He claimed the ATV 4K shipping on May 21, but only after other had pegged that date for shipping of the other products announced that day with similar timeframes.

He's claimed and doubled down on wrong dates and details multiple, multiple times over the last several years. He's giving more information than other "leakers", likely to get more hits and attention, but the vast majority of it is wrong. If I were a journalist and wrong as many times as he has been, I would be re-evaluating my "reliable" sources, and fast.

Well, not unexpected.
Maybe with the events being virtual now, Apple can just put the announcement whenever they want instead of piggybacking established events like WWDC or the "September event." I mean at the end of last year, there were like, what, 3 events (September, October, November)? That was impossible pre-covid. That way, Apple can dominate the news headlines non-stop during the quarter, leaving very little space for the competition.

Then why has Apple been advertising their stream like it’s going to be a major event? Some new colours for AirPods Max cups to be announced?

As others have pointed out, developers write software for hardware, and they use hardware to develop software. It's quite relevant.
yes and no . but now apple not following normal trend release ,unless iphone a14 in the release . 1mx or whatever kinda impossible due workload manufacturer

Personally not surprised. The iMac was launched just a few weeks ago, there are ample collection of M1 Macs sufficient for devs to pick and choose to do development work on. The people looking for M2 hardware are The Verge, because they need something to write about, MBKHD because he needs something to unbox and iJustine because she needs something to say OMG! about.
This would also allow them to extol the virtues of any new hardware in it’s own focused event.

I was curious about the MacBook Pros but not really in the market yet. But I was hoping that they'd reveal the specs of the next thing after M1, and I guess that isn't happening.

Good point! I’m sure some of the “combination” in the past was about not requiring the newsfolk to book multiple trips out to California. For Now, they can release with a week’s notice.

And many, many people who want a new machine but don't want a 13" screen or to buy something at this point with an intel processor.

The current 16" MBPs are also still quite available. Wasn't it the case in the past that the availability always deteriorated somewhat before a release?

the apple store would only shut down when they are making orders available for a new product, not when they announce them.

Im not saying this proves there is hardware, just that I would not have expected the store to close.

It shut down before every Apple events, and Apple never make a product avaible to order immediately after the event. I presume the shut down is needed to update the website and other things… We’ll see!

If true, and, with the store not going down as of yet, it's looking like it is, it will be fun seeing Prosser scramble to save this one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he botch something at the 2020 WWDC as well?
He boyches
expected this, John Prosser may be good, but the timing is off. more than likely a dull WWDC this year folks!
You don’t enjoy buggy OSs being announced? How dare you!

If the new MacBooks are not going to be announced today, why is Apple making all this fuss about this WWDC? As far as I am concerned, Apple is putting more marketing this year than it did in the previous years. So I expect Apple to announce some big hardware news. As much as software news goes, I cannot imagine something with a huge impact unless Apple plans to merge iPadOS and macOS or something on this ballpark, which I do not see happening. So, I still think it will be a huge hardware release.
