if it protrudes then it will just need a case, that’s why I put my old pro in a case to stop the single camera getting scratched up. Incidentally though I’ve never actually used the camera on the iPad although now I’ve thought about it I might give it a go!

The only reason to use my iPad camera is to scan documents, so I’m not very interested.
on the other side, I’d like to know which SoC are they using on the new iPad Pro: A13X ? Would be a monster, considering the level of A12X 😱

According to OnLeaks, the iPad Pro models were rendered with both aluminum and glass backings because he has no information on the casing material, so he wanted to depict both possibilities.
Another solution to this would be not doing any renderings based on hot air at all.

If the iPad Pro gets anything like the iPhone 11 Pro's triple sensor rear camera system, can we FINALLY get a true iPad version of Instagram with the same functionality as the iPhone version?

I’m still waiting for my 11” to bend, it’s been in and out of my work bag innumerable times every day since launch, but the blasted thing is still flat :(

There should be a version without camera at all. Then they can go all shenanigans with the camera on the normal version while I would just get the other version and pay less at that.

THE ONLY UPGRADE I WANT IS A STRONGER BODY! I returned multiple ipad pros and ultimaly was forced to settle with an ipad air because the pros are just to easy to bend acidently. When the act of me gently putting a 11 inch into a otterbox case bends it you know there is a design flaw.

I dont care about cameras AT ALL and the time of flight sensor is impractical on a device that big.

as for the screen it would be nice if it could do true HDR but its not a deal breaker.

the processor is fast enough for me.

the only thing i want is a stronger frame and ill gladly buy a new ipad pro the moment i can afford it.

until then im sticking with the air until apple fixes there own idiotic design flaw.
If you bent the ipad just putting it in a case, you weren’t gentle at all or the case itself was to blame for idiotic design flaw.

7000 series aluminum?
Don’t you think they are ALREADY using 7000 series aluminum ?

My problem with this is that we will pay a lot extra for something we do not want or use. maybe Apple should release the iPad Pro P(photographer's edition). They don't seem to be shy of defragmenting their product lineup lately.
Where did you read about increased prices ? 🧐

That’s total iPad sales. Where is the specific pro numbers? I’d like to see the smash hit numbers.

Every post of yours that I’ve read is nothing but blind gushing over anything apple. Your signature looks like it was written by Apple's PR department.
What’s exactly your point, personal attacks aside ?

Don’t you mean fragmenting? Defragmentation would be the opposite.

I don't need a good camera on an iPad, I'd rather it be lower quality and perfectly flat.
This. A million times this.

I’d forgotten signatures were a thing. You can disable them in settings so you don’t see anybody’s. Out of interest, did you know you can do that, and if so why haven’t you done it? I’m curious why people want to see other people’s signatures, as they’re nothing but annoying wastes of space in my experience.

Outside of techtuber clickbait, that’s not a thing. It’s best to ignore any YouTube video where the thumbnail is some guy making a dumb face and doing some weird pose with his hands.
I‘d never even heard of this bending issue until this thread. My iPad Pro (the big one) does feel like I could bend it if I tried (or crack the screen trying), but I don’t see how that could happen in normal use.

Brilliant move by Tim Cook (despite the fact that iPads don't really differ in functionality) to split the iPads (and now almost every single Apple product) into Pro and Pleb categories, particularly because the form factors are different (with the exception of iPhone, really).

If only they'd done that with the cMBP and Retina MBP, 2012 and 2013 Mac Pros, and even the iPhone (Touch ID /SE style for plebs, current all-screen Pro for, ahem, "pros").

Now it'd be nice to get a Mac mini Pro (expandable), pleb Apple Display, and Touch Bar-less, upgradeable, real Pro MacBook Pros. Alas, I know damn well NONE of this will happen.

The people that are going to hold up their iPad in a concert are going to do so whether they have a triple-lens array or the potato quality iPad 2/3 camera.

I actually welcome camera improvements on the iPad as a secondary feature set for scanning documents and the occasional moment when I'm at home and don't have my phone on me. However, given my choice I'd rather Apple optimize for the best camera possible without having much of a notch. I'm sure that iPad is still large enough where we don't need to worry about wobble, but now I need to always make sure I have a padded surface under the device before I lay it down.

Cant argue that. The iPhone having a non-flush camera housing is a pure example of Apple's function-over-form. I do have a very nice Apple branded leather case for my iPhone which eliminates the wobble you're speaking of, but I wholeheartedly agree the wobble is very annoying....we shouldn't have to search for a plush surface to ensure the usability/safety of our iDevices.

We have a few iPads as well as iPhones...I just don't see the allure of any iPad these days from an upgrade point of view.

1. The cameras on all the iPads stink...and are far behind any iPhone even several generations/years before said iPad release. I know people hate holding these iPads to take videos, but there are plenty of $20 accessories that will hold them for you to record something. I use such said grip for my iPhone to record outdoor nature and it's fantastic. If the iPad/Pro would have a significantly improved camera and some advertisement/promotion of said grip, people may just buy these machines for their video capabilities AND large screen size to watch/review later.

2. The iPad, in general in all forms/models, has had no major feature upgrade in 5+ years. Please don't reply stating the passwords/fingerprint/security are wonderful new features. Where are the NEW USE CASES for iPad? It's the same old email/web surfing/game playing device from the past 7+ years. I don't have a feature list handy to post but the iPad is like a pad of paper...nothing innovative.

3. The iPad Pro really needs a major spec bump as well as *technical* bump such as additional ports, a local file system, far more iOS features over the regular iOS (this is a Pro model...right?). The USB port on the iPads is terrible...taking eons to copy MP3 files from iTunes. Clearly it is running at USB 2.0 speeds regardless of what Apple claims. I like to copy 100+ MP3s every few weeks and maybe 2-3 movies and it's painfully slow in late 2019 with the latest iPad models (and it's not my machine).

4. iOS still refuses to have different logins. For example, my wife and I being able to "log in" to a single iPad and I have my browser bookmarks and email setup and she has hers. The idea from Apple is that we should each go plunk down $300+ for an iPad. Apple really should have different logins even if there is a limit of 2 users. With all the cloud and profile syncing that Apple already provides, it likely wouldn't stop most families from buying 2+ iPads...but it would be a huge benefit for my wife and I to only have to take 1 iPad on vacation.

5. From an iPad Pro standpoint, where are the blazing CPU specs and amazing screen resolution and amazing screen size? Why not offer some great 17" iPad? With the current pricing for the "pro" versions of other models, I'm sure Apple could find people to drop $2000 on a 17" iPad Pro.

All this being said, there hopefully is an iPad Pro coming out before April that will address many of my concerns/requests/advice.

The 2017 iPad Pro has the same camera as the 2016 iPhone 7.

iPad Pro is USB 3.
iPad and iPad Air 3 are USB 2.

We need a high performance camera for our data collection in field app. So we be 1st tp buy!

I agree. This type and size of camera should be an optional extra, or just have a separate camera-less version like the wifi vs cell models.

I'd personally rather pay for a 16" screen than a camera. But they can still have it as an option for those who want to use their iPad to shoot videos or do AR etc.

One of my first-world pet peeves is watching people trying to take photos with giant iPads.

For me a very alluring feature for my next iPad upgrade, somewhat sadly, would be for Apple to fix the damage it did with the last iPad Pro spec bump- at least the 11” version, I have no experience of the 12.9” one.

The smaller iPad Pro went from a 10.5” to an 11” screen and at the same time actually reduced the battery capacity. The result is that my 11” iPad Pro gives me the worst battery experience that I’ve had with an iPad since the iPad 1, actually I’d say the worst ever but maybe that’s because I got used to models after the original iPad gradually getting better and now the 11 being, relatively speaking, a noticeable step backwards.

Apple really needs to do what it did with this year’s iPhones and deliver a step change in battery life because the current iPad Pro 11 just isn’t good enough.

Love my iPad Pro 12.9 inch but sure wish the camera was optically stabilized. Basically the only point where the 2018 Pro is a step down from the previous generation, which had a stabilized camera. The 2018 Pro camera is decent, yes, but for taking pictures in not so great light (I'm not saying the 12.9 is anyone's pic-taking-tool of choice, but there ARE situations) or "scanning" large newspaper articles it sure would be great to have a better image quality.
So ANY improvement of the iPad Pro's camera is welcome. Time of flight-sensor?Bring it on. But make sure you also improve the general image quality.
