Since the bezel is already glass and part of the display it won’t get anymore fragile. It’s just that more of that black area around the screen will now be pixels. It’ll still have the metal frame on the sides to protect it, hopefully made out of titanium.
True, however with the very thin area for the case to wrap over without obscuring the display, it's almost to the point where the case cannot prevent the phone from popping out. In my scenario, the Apple leather case on my 14pro got pushed away from the metal edge upon impact (flipped out my hand while getting out of the car and hit the sidewalk) such that both the case and the metal phone edge got dinged.

Do people really care about thin bezels? I'm cool with large bezels. I'd much rather have an easy-on-the-eyes display technology (i.e. filter blue light, no PWM, etc.), stable software, and physical buttons that I can access without having to look at the device, e.g. I prefer that Siri is activated only when I press the home button, I like that I can adjust the volume of a video I'm "listening" to without looking at the phone (no taptic), etc.
i returned the iPhone 14 Pro because the bezels were so big, super ugly and an eye sore to look at, its 2023 no excuse for thick bezels, makes it look dated next to a galaxy 23

Make the dynamic continent smaller. The bezels are mediocre compared to all competitors. But the notch is plain horrible and gets in the middle of games, videos and apps. Terrible design choice, super ammateur.

So. Titanium frame. Sounds cool. Is it great?. Do you have probelms with the current frame?, does it need to be changed due to…??? Will make the phone MUCH lighter?, will it allow me to climb the Everest?. Will it be in colors or just in “titanium gray”?. Will I still use a case? (Yes).

I remember when the 4.3” Android phones seemed gigantic, it seems like no matter how big they go I get used to it and always want a little more screen. I still want an iPad mini phone.

You’re not the only one. The iPad Mini would make an excellent phone since it’s the same size as a Galaxy Z Fold. But of course, Apple won’t allow it. You can make phone calls from an Apple Watch, but you can’t from an iPad.

But hey, can’t hurt the iPhone’s bottom line after all. Why spend $800-1000 on a new iPhone when you can just buy a $500 iPad Mini?

Original iPhone 2G - 2007.

We have come really far. Look at those monstrous bezels!

Fine with me … i like the old design. Prefer the trusty Home button on the bezel beach over the flimsy Face ID on the island …

Smaller bezels than the S23 Ultra...that's a bit interesting. Didn't think it could get smaller.

I think the biggest reason is battery life. They can only fit so much battery in devices that size.

Not sure we need to go all the way that small but it sure made one handed use a breeze and I miss that. I think iphone mini might have been the goldilocks size for a smartphone but a higher percentage of consumers seem more drawn to larger devices and the mini not having a pro version I'm sure also turned people off from buying.

Give me a mini with pro iphone features and all day battery life and I'm choosing that.

Unfortunately for anything like that might require switching to Android. Funny how that's changed.
I agree with everything, except your last sentence 🤣

The home button on your iPhone SE (per your signature) is about as physical as the iPhone's volume buttons will eventually be (just not this year, apparently).

This is not true. I’ve always used cellular iPad mini to also be my phone (buds + voip app). Works great (voice and text)! In my opinion, all apps are better on the extra screen RE too.

And you are right- much cheaper for both hardware and cellular service cost.

Bonus: iPad Mini also seems to last longer than iPhone. The infamous “long in tooth” effect seems to come a bit slower to iPad.

How can it have the best screen to bezels ratio?. Other phones have ridden of bezels yeaaaars ago.

I don’t really care about bezels. I’m excited about a new finish. I know I’ve said it a hundred times, but I hate the polished stainless steel. It had its moment and now it’s time to move on. I would seriously consider going careless for the first time. I use the MagSafe wallet so I wouldn’t have to worry about putting it down on a table. Plus, I can always throw a silicone case on the Jen I go to the gym.

Frankly, I now miss bezels, especially on my prior iPhone 7. Nowadays, I accidentally have random screen taps on my iPhone 13, since there is really no space to put my fingers on the front of the screen.
On my 14 pro, I still have this weird thing where the phone does a voice memo or recording to an iMessage and makes this weird schwoop sound. I have touched zero buttons, and there are no microphone buttons near the bottom left or right.

Apple has back up gimmicks for production delays. Like “dynamic island” and thinner bezels. I know I’m missing a big one recently that was hilariously goofy as a “feature”.

I'm also cool with large bezels. The screen technology you mention, and no hideous 'island' or notch or cutout, and a thick bezel, would be much nicer, and would make the screens much cheaper to produce and replace as well.

Hope they bring the SIM card slot back:rolleyes:
Buy an international iPhone. If you like to travel you're either buying a second phone anyway that accepts SIMs, or you're tolerating the ridiculous e-SIM pricing you see in many countries.
