Excellent review Joe and thaks for providing numbers.
Xanderstone, werent you with Verizon too? Im wondering if Verizon's cell signals might be broadcasting in a frequency which is disturbed by the metal in this case. if that is the case then this is great information to be able to provide customers who are with Verizon a warning when considering the metal version of the case.

That was always my intention encouraging everyone to post accurate testing and numbers to help identify if certain carrier's signals were incompatible and thus give a definitive idea of what to expect for your specific phone and carrier in conjunction with the metal case. Keep the info coming!

----------

Also Letmehearur808 is with Verizon too. I think we are starting to see a pattern here. So customers with Verizon should be aware that they will probably have to use the case with a plastic back.

As far as myself on the Canadian fido/rogers network, everything is fine as far as signal goes. if any of the other owners want to post which carriers theyre with might help give people an even better idea of what to expect.

Also bear in mind these are the results at my house, which is in the sticks and already low in signal as can be read from my signal readings.

In the "city" my I can pick up full "bars" inside the case with readings as high as -78 LTE and speeds are plenty fast.

And thanks to Terry and the other pioneers in these knockoff cases, I bought 2 for the price of one authentic Taktik, and from my reading worlds better customer service!

awesome to hear JoeW I'm glad you were able to make an informed and profitable decision from the info provided here!

^that is the plastic version and the old style. Not recommended to order. Also theres no record of that seller being trustworthy. So always make sure you get user reviews of satisfied customers before you part with your money. Good customer service is a huge reason why you should decide to purchase from one seller over another because you are protected if something goes wrong or you change your mind.

Decided to order one of the new model iphone5 black metal taktik extreme cases from iphonecase2011 last week and it came in the mail today. And I have to say its even better than the first generation ones like my silver one. Very impressed! And it now is identical aesthetically to the genuine one, but as we all know much much stronger and a far better deal with outstanding customer service ;) Its arrived from Hong Kong to Toronto, Canada in just under 7 days to give you all a time frame.

Just ordered mine too from iphonecase2011 also. Thank you to terry8000 for providing links and a video review on the case!
Iphonecase2011 has been an exceptional seller and provides awesome customer service! As an example, I wanted the silver metal depicted in Terry's video, but he said he only has black white and pink now. So I asked of he could send me pictures of the cases and sure enough, he did! I chose the black one and made my payment, and he even sent me an email showing me the case, and package with my name and address on it! Awesome guy, awesome seller! Definitely recommend, and definitely will report back when it gets here!

Awesome to hear! Looking forward to seeing and hearing more once you receive the case. The black is a great choice, I just got one myself and its even nicer than the silver one I have. I think you'll be very happy with that choice.

Till now, i have used/owned 3 cases for my ip5:- Belkin Grip Sheer, Otterbox Defender & Lifeproof fre'.

Was highly disappointed by Lifeproof for its shoddy and cheap looking build (took it off within hrs of putting on). Also the screen protector lacked feel...

Otterbox defender is a solid case but mine had issue of severe Newton rings and watermarking - rendering the screen practically useless visually, popped its screen protector off and used it for a while but it's removal made the bezel flex and creak during one hand operation. Also, dust sealing went for a toss so - off it went! Like the case tho, inspite of its bulk - wish the protector was better.

My phone is currently wearing the Belkin Grip Sheer and my main gripe with it is hard to press buttons (volume & power) and of course - the minimal protection offered.

Thanks to all the good words here about seller iphonecase2011 and positive reviews of aluminium cases being offered at a vfm price - I have also ordered a black aluminium case. As has been described, the seller sticks to their promt communication and SOP of fast shipping (also emailed product and envelope photos with tracking sticker posted). So far very pleased with the transaction and hope to receive the case soon (hope Indian Postal Service doesn't delay delivery much).

Hope to put up some comparative pictures and my opinion about the Taktik once it arrives, thanks again forum mates for all the useful info!

Received my case today, surprised with speedy delivery as it was posted on 4th! Initial impression - its way better than Otterbox! Only little issue i'm having is with newton rings on the screen, will try to reassemble the case in a dry airconditioned room (it rained here yesterday, so the moisture in air may be the culprit) and report.

In all, quality case from a quality seller - at an awsome price, thanks 'iphonecase2011', :)

------ Update (June 11, 2013) ------

1. I am having persistent rainbow rings on my screen, despite trying my best to thoroughly clean the screens and installing in a dry surrounding, have ordered a matte antiglare protector to see if that solves the issue.
2. One of the thread holes got stripped while screwing the case back together (i have screwed/unscrewed it 5-6 times in all), reported the same to seller and he is shipping me a plastic rear plate (bezel) foc.
3. Am having slight signal loss (but not too significant) and the seller claims that the replacement plastic back cover should also help with this issue.
4. A comparative photo review of the cases i own is on hold till the moment I (hope to) take care of these small niggles (other than which i love the case).

Awesome to hear guys! In regards to the newton rings (rainbowing) It does tend to have a lot to do with humidity and sometimes just the eveness or uneveness of the order in which the screws tighten down. I used to get a bit of it as I described in earlier posts for several months after first getting the case. Since summer started I have not had any newton rings at all. whether it has something to do with the weather or the case just settling in Im not sure. But if you get it super clean with microfibre its usually pretty minimal or nonexistent.

got my case today guys! and ill be first to say that i absolutely love the case! i never handled a real one, so i cant compare the real to the fake, but if i didnt know any better, i would say i had a real one! good quality with the metal, no apparent loss in signal, and overall good looking!

idk if i got lucky or if i just knew how to put the case on right, but i have no "oil rings" anywhere on my screen, then again, i do have a screen protector under it (just a 3 dollar one from amazon) and the vibration switch works perfectly for me everytime as well as all the other buttons! i think the trick is, what i did, was to squeeze the case together on the edge where your screwing in the screw, and install the screws on a pattern of: corner, opposite diagonal corner, then middle edge ones. works perfectly for me and i couldnt be happier!

thank you both to iphonecase2011 for delivering such an awesome case (that might actually be the real one) and providing such awesome customer service! also to terry8000 for introducing us to him and doing a review of the metal case beforehand as well!

Got mine as well and it seems awesome. Only thing is my case is screwed together and it seems the wrench is inside lol smh.

There is (or should be) an allen key in the corner of the clear plastic packaging. It's stuck in a molded-in holder. Chances are you found it already. If you do experience the rainbow/oil slick effects, a small terry cloth type of microfiber cloth is the best solution. Fold it into a small padded square, blow (breathe) on the phone or glass (I'd do both), wipe it before the condensation evaporates. You'll see immediately, just how pristine the glass is. It might take a few repetitions to completely solve the under glass rainbow issue, but it will go away. I've never had to resort to using a matte stick-on screen protector under the Gorilla Glass. My phone/case only requires an occasional wipe of the GG with the same great results every time. I hope you enjoy your new case.

Please post pictures like I have posted and others depicting the phone in the same location with case on and off in measured time intervals, Otherwise we dont have a correct scientific method for determining actual signal loss.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the thread :)

thumbs up for this seller ... i recieve mine but the gorilla screen was broken thru transit iphonecase immediately send me a replacement . and she also send an extra glass for me thumbs up nice seller will definitely buy from her again

I am pleased to report that the rainbow rings issue has been eliminated completely using a matte anti-glare screen protector! :)

Still awaiting plastic back plate from seller - in order determine if the signal-loss issue is also rectified by that.

UPDATE 19.06.2013: Received the plastic back cover on Monday, haven't yet got the time to try it out - hope to replace it this weekend. Excellent service and communication by 'iphonecase2011' :)

Just thought Id post a quick update here:

Over the last few weeks I have aquired the new iphone5 extreme taktik metal case and the iphone4 taktik metal case from iphonecase2011. Shipping is consistently coming in around a week from Hong Kong to Toronto, Canada.

I am really impressed with the latest generation iphone5 and iphone4 metal taktik knockoff cases from iphonecase2011 any improvements that could have been made to the original design have been made and they are absolutely perfect.

Several notes: On the iphone4 metal taktik case some people will notice that the sensor fails to turn off the screen while on a call. This is a fault of the iphone4 and not of the case. It will occur in an otterbox and any similar case as well. So be aware.

On the iphone5 metal taktik case, be aware also that the iphone5 has had many issues with signal loss and network problems, and this is not the fault of the case but rather in the design of the phone itself. I have been doing a lot of research about this from my end and have found that the fault lies with the antenna strength on the iphone5 and not with the case that is on it unless that case is physically coming in contact with the antenna (which none of the recommended rugged cases on the market currently do)

I have done extensive tests by comparing an iphone 4s with an iphone 3gs and several iphone5s and the iphone5 is less reliable in signal strength than all its predecessors and fluctuates in signal strength for no discernible reason. This is something apple needs to address but its unlikely a large corporation such as apple will admit to there being an issue unless they have no alternative. Still love apple but being realistic :)

I think the plastic rear is a good safeguard to try but if that doesnt fix your signal problem then the fault is with the phone and not the case. In addition to that do not tighten the screws quite as tight with the plastic back to prevent bowing out rather use a little loc-tite on the screws and tighten till firm not ratcheted down. I currently do that and the case sits nicely and secure.

Hopefully that helps shed some light on things and provide some more insight for prospective buyers! Take care everybody!
