It's a face hugger...Also the marketing is abusrd and dystopian. In a time when we all want to reduce our screen time, you have couples conversing with their eyes through the headset in the marketing material 🤦♂️🤢

You're right. This is not the end. This is just the beginning of the end. There is nothing, I repeat, nothing, in this article implying that the AVP will be discontinued anytime soon.
I swear, any article about the AVP just instantly attracts negativity from people who DON'T EVEN READ THE ARTICLE!
I think I came up with the best use for the G4 CubeEvery generation needs its own G4 Cube.
Apple has dramatically shifted the narrative since then
This didn't release as some obscure "play beta test" that "wasn't meant for the masses"
I went Amiga and enjoyed color and multitasking a decade earlyAs far as price is concerned, a similar question could've been asked about the original Macintosh in 1984. When compared to the price of Atari and Commodore computers, who in their right mind would even consider buying a Macintosh?
However, not everything is just about the price.
I like the idea of making it a personal porn machine. Just include some sort of Apple iVibrator attachment and I think this could be the biggest hit since Deep Throat! At this point all they need is one display unit per store and two or three units in stock that will be bought and returned. Maybe some new boxes and accessories for repackaging.
In the meanwhile they will be waiting on someone to come with a great new direction to take this product. Like others pointed out before, Apple Watch used to be a fashion item before it became health oriented. All we need is one of the beta testers to come up with an idea. Direct yours at tcook@apple.com.
We all knew what the phones were for.Yes I’m not attacking your comment, that’s completely valid. More of a commentary on the general feeling on the AVP.
Your comment on what form factor was available is also interesting because there is no other competing product to the AVP. In terms of what it does at a very high level.
Yet still there is indifference.
It’s a bit like saying I’m not going to use a mobile phone in the 80s because they don’t fit in my pocket. That’s fine, but people didn’t attack the 80s mobile phone saying it shouldn’t exist!
Just baffling to me right now.
I agree. In hindsight, Apple was far better off sticking with the Project Titan car project and dumping Vision Pro.I don't know why this should come to a surprise to anyone. VR doesn't have a place in daily life for the masses. I fell into that trap with PSVR when it first came out. It's mind blowing for a day, fun for a week, and then you never touch it again. It has too many inconveniences to be useful.
I was not and still am not sold on it personally, but I hope it's not the end of the AVP already - so much R&D money, time and brain juices, what a waste if it just gets tossed out.The device is basically a Mac/iPhone on your face. While I'm sure the experience is cool, it's just not $3500 +tax cool. Perhaps if it did more...less gimmicky and more practical. Apple has a habit of pushing new features on devices that you can only use with the latest hardware, and it's not uncommon to provide hardware upgrades annually. It makes the Vision a bad investment.
I've never tried jumping off a bridge. You're saying I should before I know I'd actually hate it?I will never understand people's affinity to hate on things they haven't even tried. Just baffles logic.
Once you try it once, it's perfectly fair to hate on it.
But yet again, you have made some assumptions without anything to back them up.But your opinion is rather binary. If you don’t value it it’s a turd in your opinion. That’s just ridiculous. Of course you are entitled to your opinion but it’s rather worthless if that is your criteria when judging anything.
A Porsche Taycan is something I can afford but don’t want it therefore it’s a turd.. like really?
Same here. I read that they don't work with monovision contacts (which I wear) and that sealed the deal.First Apple product in years that I simply had zero interest in even demo-ing
Repeat that sentiment for so many of their products. I'd like a small Apple Watch with week long battery life. An iPhone that doesn't need a battery replacement after a few years...The tech doesn’t exist to make it small enough to wear a good portion of the day and maintain all day battery life. I know Apple will command a premium price, but 1k should be their target.
If it was $35 I might consider it, but no, not at $350. I mean, it would still be useless junk, but that's within my "Eh, I'll spend a few bucks on something that's utterly useless for a few hours of entertainment" price level. Not even if the price was $350?
biggest mistake Apple did was ditching the Car project in favor of Vision Pro. It should have been the other way around. The problem is not the price point. The problem is it does not perform tasks better than a computer or tasks that a computer can not perform at all. It is a problem looking for a solution. It is uncomfortable and, right, it is pricey. It was born dead and it does not make any sense to make a lower priced Vision Pro.
This was one of the most stupid products in Apple's history. Steve Jobs never would have allowed it to ship.
Smart glasses is a different thing (not a computer on your nose but a device with specific but limited functions).
I am worried because Apple makes stupid things and miss obvious game changers like AI (they have recognized being two years behind the competition!).
There was no car. There was NEVER going to be a car. The "car team" was somebody's pet project that was NEVER going to turn into an actual product.I agree. In hindsight, Apple was far better off sticking with the Project Titan car project and dumping Vision Pro.
