anyone with any sense who's been following apple has already guessed these.

Hint Hint about the ipad's lifecycle: Why'd they drop the 3? They might not have one out by the end of the year, although most probably they will, due to production issues that even apple aren't yet certain about, but the yearly cycles are gone.

Good point wrt dropping the number. It does give Apple more latitude to come out with a different size and not have endless "is it a 3 or what?" debates.

I think the validity of the rumors (aside from Digitimes) aren't as far fetched as some may think.

The mythical iPad mini would likely share components with the iPhone 6th generation. Having new lower cost iPad refresh (assuming the annual refresh would remain at roughly the same date) before the busy holiday season means that consumers are just getting into a buying frenzy shortly after each successive iPad mini is refreshed.

It's a pretty good strategy.

iPad 9.7" refresh in the Spring right around tax return season spending and the mini right before the holiday spending sprees.

Foxconn supplies 100% at launch, with the other manufacturers ramping up production a little later - like September.

Wasn't it like that?

Wishful thinking:

7" iPad in August
New 10" iPad in December
iPhone 5 in September

Reality:

No 7" iPad in August
New 10" iPad in March 2013
iPhone 5 in October

Paycheck, please.

It's clear that Digitimes has no credibility whatsoever, but I have to wonder why they persistently make up such unrealistic rumors. "Three new iPads this year!!! One in August, a month in which Apple has never released anything, and a whole new full-sized one in December, also a month when Apple has never released anything! And all of this in addition to the one that they already released, as expected, in March! Because as we all know, Apple loves to ship more than one iteration of an iDevice in a given year...they've done it many times!"

If you're going to make stuff up, at least try to make it sound plausible...

the 7" iPad rumor...it just won't die, nor will it happen.

iPhone 5 makes sense in September

The 10" iPad in December rumor is idiotic.

I disagree with the commment re the 10inch iPad, Apple might weel refresh the new iPad to add more 4G frequencies, so that it cna be used on more 4G networks

Jobs said a long time ago that 7" tablets are a non-starter, because they are too small.

I mostly agree with him. 7" may be OK for cheap devices, but 13" or so is much more needed, so that full size PDFs, business documents and magazines can be viewed without scrolling.

Toshiba is coming up with a 13" tablet in June. If the iPad stays at sub-10", it will lose this market.

I switched to Android phone because Apple didn't have a 4"+ option (or Flash) and even though I love my iPad, my next purchase will be a larger screen tablet, whomever makes it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. MacRumors needs to bring back Page 2. Then, stick all the Digitimes rumors there. Done deal.

I've also asked this before and still haven't gotten an answer. When, exactly, has Digitimes reported any Apple rumor that turned out to be true, that wasn't immediately obvious to everyone or already being reported by every other site?

7" iPad? This August?

Good joke. Moving on...

Actually, August would be pretty good timing if the rumor were true. That would coincide nicely with the back to school crowd, which likely would be more cost conscious. Further, it wouldn't conflict with the expected October iPhone release. Moreover, it would be the hurt on the Amazon Fire during the busy holiday season. Who would buy a Fire if you could buy a iPad for not very much more?

...well amazon had a nice run in the tablet dept... they'll have to go back to the e-reader maket

apple would be smart if they put out the following:

ipad 7' 4GB 249.99
ipad 7' 16gb 349.99

im pretty confident that the 10 inch ipad is just fake news to troll us... but they really need to put out the iphone mini or another iphone product line

"Digitimes has had a hit-or-miss track record when it comes to Apple rumors, but with the site having offered some accurate information in the past"

Really? We've been tracking rumor sites for over ten months. We can tell you exactly which rumors from Digitimes have come true and which haven't. So it would be very interesting/instructive to compare notes on the above statement. Exactly when has Digitimes "offered accurate information in the past"?

----------

I have to wonder why they persistently make up such unrealistic rumors.
Because there's no penalty to them being wrong. The Tech Media doesn't keep track of their rumors and has no short term memory regarding their accuracy.

As long as sites like this continue to report Digitimes rumors as if they were true/accurate/important, they'll continue to publish them.

2 of 3

iPhone 5 is logical for that timeframe, will we really get the thinner form factor that was sort of leaked last year? larger screen? who knows!

iPad 10" in 2012? doubtful, unless there is a low-cost version being released.

iPad 7" in August...I still stick to my mini little theory... ePad for education, allowing students to have textbooks on a lower cost device. That would make sense for a back-to-school rollout...will there be a bunch of new textbook announcements to go along with it?

I agree 100%

My digital comic book collection agrees with you 100%

Ista- Buy for me

- 32nm
- 128GB
- global LTE

This is what the iPad needs for me to buy it, even if I skipped the iPad 2 precisely because of the lack of retina.

Digitimes latest report states that Apples new giant 'doughnut' building is, in fact, a giant particle accelerator worm hole warp dimensioning time travailing machine:

According to a leaked report by some guy who is the brother to a women who bumped into on the streets a man that is the second removed cousin of a women that is going out with the son of the uncle to a guy that works as the janitor 10 blocks away from the site of the new building.. Apple are going to allow people to use this new machine to take holidays to alien worlds, the report states Apple is looking into developing an app for iOS and macs that will let you book online a holiday that benefits everyone, as you get an amazing holiday experience, yet you loose no time on Earth.

Apple is reported to be doing what it does best, taking current technology, weather it's with the Alien time warping worm hole travelling technology by the garthalienooos of planet algratiligiliylily in the 4th quadrant of sector 59659485, or Earth based mobile phone technology, and making it into a user friendly powerful easy to use system and product.

If all goes to plan, the device will be launched in 2016.
