They officially screwed up with iPhone 8 & 10 release coming out together to manipulate their regular customers who upgrade every year and to spend $1,830 on the 10

We will see how much Apple "screwed up" during their next quarterly report, which will be an all time record quarter even at the lower end of the guidance (it will go well beyond the higher end though).

Face ID can be tricked with family...

Everybody says my daughter looks like me. Sure enough, she can't unlock my iPhone X.

What has been tricked is the mind of people believing in clever viral videos.

Wrong. Not with iPhone X. We asked for all screen with Touch ID and they failed miserably.
And who are you? This is Apple we’re talking about, they choose the direction that technology moves.

I happen to be extremely satisfied with my iPhone X and Face ID’s performance. Touch ID has been inconvenient in certain situations where Face ID has been easier.

Well it is getting easier to buy iPhone X, so either they ramped up production or after the initial wave of die hard customers they're selling less X in favour of 8 or 7.

I could ask you the exact same question...who are you? To be honest, it doesn’t matter.

Apple is always right? We are humans and they are not? Great comment.

I am very happy, actually I am delighted for you that it works for you. Hope you a good Christmas and New Year.

To be fair, you are right. However, why not offer us Touch ID? I know someone who is very happy with Face ID due to the fact that Touch ID never works for them.

I honestly don't know why they didn't do it, but it's not the first time for example they removed the floppy disk from Mac's eventually they removed the disk drive also, there is always going to be controversy when Apple do things like this. I understand that not everyone is going to love Face ID, personally it works great for me along with the gestures and i don't miss Touch ID, however you can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time. It's probably Apple trying to be forward thinking, just like with the MacBooks when they recently removed some ports and even the magsafe.

How so? Or is it because your disgruntled that touch ID will no longer be in existence in the future of the iPhone now that Face ID is replacing it? I Believe Face ID will be highly successful in the long run and it's The start of what's to come for the iPhone and merging into other Apple products.

Let's see . Seems people at at the opposite scales of agreement , neither are right at this stage. Time will tell .

For me that is the best solution. Have touchid and offer faceid as an option .

Not many people willing to depart with $1000 plus these days for a phone, hype and marketing can only take you so far.

Most people live through financing so they don't see it as a 1000 dollar purchase. They simply see a few more dollars per month.

In the long run, maybe but it doesn't work seamlessly for many of us right now, and its by and large less efficient then touchid at the moment. I need to put my code in more often with FaceID then I had too with TouchID.

Its more then a few more dollars, but I get your point. No matter how you slice it, the phone is expensive. I opted not to finance it because I felt paying 40 something dollars month was excessive.

I see Face ID as the evolution as touch ID once was. Face ID is something starting off that is new and will obviously refine over the course of its evolvement. Touch ID had its pitfalls when it first debuted as well, and it slowly improved over the course of the newer iPhones.

I think Face ID isn't perfect as technology isn't perfect itself, but both forms of biometric security have drawbacks. However, my overall content with Face ID is satisfying for the time being.

Wrong. Apple does offer the choice of Touch ID with the iPhone 8, which Will likely see four or five years of iOS support. So you do have options in the iPhone lineup currently supporting both forms of biometric security.
4 or 5 years of Apple slowing your phone down. Sounds fantastic.

I genuinely thought people would have stopped making these claims.

I love my X. I'm all in on FaceID.

I still think they are charging $200 too much and would tell most people looking for a new phone, to get the 7 or 8.

If they want to brand this as a premium phone they should have included fast chargers.

I can only imagine what they will try to sell next year's X Plus at.

Will you still be happy in 12 to 18 months after Apple slows your phone?

Another click bait. NYC is obsessed with the X. It’s everywhere around me all the time. Even my office is obsessed with it. At least, 4 of my co-workers have it as well.
Whoever says the nonsense about the notch or Face ID has never owned a X in the first place. Going back to the older iPhones is not an option anymore.
People getting it in installment plans will hardly ever notice the difference in price between the 8/8 Plus and the X.

For the past 2 years iPhones and Android phones are just boring !

Only "new interesting" thing is AR/VR and mixed reality.

I have one, and I find that it works maybe 80% of the time, where as TouchID was almost perfect.
Touch ID worked zero percent of the time with gloves on. Face ID works 100% of the time. For that reason alone I prefer Face ID.

It’s DigiTimes. No one takes them seriously.

This is not surprising. I’m curious to see the effects of the recent revelations about slowing down of the iphones. Now that people know the fate of their 1000+ bucks phones, people may think twice before buying them.

By the way, let me voice my opinionaboutvthat subject: Apple should have been transparent about that from the very beginning and even offer an alternative to people affected (e.g. “we will replace your batera for 50 Bucks”).

Don’t know why they seem surprised. The price is way beyond what most people, even big Applefanboys, are able to pay.
It’s a great phone, but there’s no way I’m going to pay that for a smartphone. I’ve actually just bought a new Macbook ( from the refurb ) for less than the price of the iPhone X.

Maybe next year, when they’ll bring out cheaper models.

I own apple, Microsoft and Google products but I bought the iphone X and have zero regret, worth the money imo and my previous phone was a galaxy s8+.

Well if you took the gloves off it word work, and how often do you wear gloves and use a phone? You're citing an exception to justify another technology's failure. Its an easy fix for TouchID and gloves, not so with FaceId. There doesn't seem anything I can do to increase the success rate.

Face ID can be tricked with family... Sure it may have a "one in a million" false positive rate but that does you no good when that one in a million lives with you. Didn't have that issue with Touch ID, just saying. It's pretty obvious that Face ID was the compromise because they couldn't get under screen Touch ID to work and didn't want to ruin the Apple logo on the back with a vastly superior rear Touch ID.

People say my brother looks similar to me so I had him try to unlock my iPhone but he could never get in, then I read a story about two Chinese women who were not even related but can unlock the same phone so could be insecure I dunno.

No person in his right mind would pay $1,000.00 for a mobile device. I have loved iPhones ever since the 2G came out and have upgraded every year but decided to skip this year not because money is the issue, but because I'm just not able to justify to myself spending a grand for a new cellphone.

You do realize that people have been paying that for years right? AppleCare, insurance, your rate plan etc all add up to more than $1000.

I sold my 7 Plus for $600 and put that towards a 64GB iPhone X and I’m doing Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program.

Idk what’s the deal with some people’s mentalities. Especially when a 256GB 7 Plus was $969 at launch!
