I would not put the slightest bit of faith in this rumor.
For those who don’t wanna click the link, just in the past 12 months, digitimes has predicted:
“Redesigned iPad mini will have Mini-LED display.” It didn’t.
“Apple Watch Series 7 may have double-sided processor.” It literally had the same processor as the series 6.
“14/16-inch MacBook Pro models delayed until 2022.” Some of you are probably reading this on your 2021 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pro.
“AirPods Pro 2 coming in first half of 2021.” If only.

mini led sucks anyway so whatever. i'll be quite happy with a standard LED display. can't wait to get one of these machines

F apple for possibly not making an iMac in the future exactly the way I want it to fit my special wants.

I think I can ignore all rumors between now and actual product release… though a mini with a good display seems to climb to the top as a replacement for my current iMac when it reaches its end of life…

No they didn’t. There were no credible rumors saying that. It was wild speculation.

Which shouldn’t be a surprise. The machine it’s replacing costs $1799, not $4999 like the iMac Pro. I wonder when people will ever stop making up things and then getting upset when Apple doesn’t deliver what they made up.
People want entry level price for the iMac, but with Pro Display XDR level features.

If you want a good display and a powerful machine. Wait for the Apple Silicon Mac Pro and get two Pro Display XDR to go with it.

I am SO excited for this iMac. I got one in 2010 and was forced to upgrade in 2019, but I just know it doesn't hold a candle to what's to come! Very excited.

This title doesn't make any sense at all. Mini-LED is only the Light Source, the front panel is still LCD. So Mini-LED or not, they're all "LCD".

The new type displays that directly use tiny RGB LEDs as pixels are either OLED or "Micro-LED". Both are completely different technologies form Mini-LED. The size of Mini-LED is simply too huge for a pixel.

Why are people being pedantic on the title.

Mini-LED is what apple is using in their MacBook Pro and iPads. This title is just saying it will use traditional LCD displays instead of the newer mini-LED displays apple has started using.

Combined with their other reporting about a range of colors, it seems like we may have a 27” iMac and an iMac Pro. Here’s to hoping the iMac Pro is a 32” 6K Mini LED in jet black!

Apple don't screw up the new 27" iMac Pro like you did the 24" iMac.

Don't go making it too thin so the no more power cord into the back, or move other ports to stupid places because it's too thin. Best is just keep the current form factor and update the internals to the M1 Pro/Max. You can even leave the chin that give me a place to put post-its.

Because it's wrong.

The title should be "Redesigned 27-inch iMac to Feature Traditional LED backlight, Not Mini-LED".
Yes that’s being pedantic. We all can understand via context and basic common sense what they mean.

Someone should tell Best Buy to read this thread regarding LCD and LED...

Otherwise, go find me an advert for one of these "LC Displays" of which you speak (and not something from the opto-electronic components section of the RS catalogue). The English language is defined by usage, not pedantry.
Irregardless, you could of spent you're time better by getting some monies at the ATM machine.
