Well the current iPad Pro (2018) models also come with different amounts of RAM. They include 4GB of RAM except for the most expensive 1TB models (both 11" and 12.9"), which have 6GB of RAM.
How does that makes this a less bad situation? The iPad case is just as bad as this.

"Be fair" wow. It's not "fair for consumers to pay more for something they don't need. If you want the option then get it. Don't demand everyone else will have it too. This isn't the Soviet Socialist Republic of Apple LOL
memory price is at a all time low, 3d mlc memory is literally 1/2 the price it was last year.

You’d be very happy with a 1GB Ram phone in 2019 I can see. Well atleast if it has an Apple logo on the back.

What does the RAM have to do with not having the options to get lower storage? You do know RAM and storage are different?

Stop being so pessimistic and antagonistic. Apple has many customers who manage near all of their data through iCloud so a base storage capacity of 64 GBs actually serves a very large percentage of their demographic extremely well. It is rather far removed from the earlier 16 GBs which was, sincerely, quite problematic.

Apple doesn't release that information to the public
Typically it is verified by an iFixit tear down

Why is this piece of information (amountt of RAM) not provided during the keynote? Why is it kept secret? It is a spec of the product so why is it not indicated like the storage size, chip name and number etc? Very strange and non-transparent way of marketing a new product.

for what, phone calls and text message? the iphone 11 series is camera centric upgrade, with 4k 60hz, how long do you think 64gb is going to last.

For someone who doesn't make many photos/videos, that will be fine.

For a photographer (that's me) or videographer, not nearly enough. That's why Apple offers OPTIONS. Pay for what you need. I do.

Again it's available if YOU want it. Why does it bother people that Apple isn't forcing people to buy something if they don't need it.

no body is forcing anyone to do anything, folks here are merely stating their constructive criticism. and that is apple trotting their new 2/3 lens 4k 60hz super smart HDR front face "slowfies" with only 64gb of onboard non expendable memory.

This'll be interesting. I could see them all being 4GB, although the Pro moniker is really looking for some differentiation.

As to the comment about different RAM capacities of the same model based on storage capacity, that's not something Apple has done before, but I know Samsung has done that for the S10+ over in the Android world - sounds very Samscummy. Doubt we'll see that with Apple.

They'll just wait till next year when its time for the 6s to fall off support (so many more years later than it would have if it was an Android phone). But 6s's / SE's are supported for iOS 13.
Actually they do already do it with the iPad Pros, the 1TB models get 6GB RAM while the rest only have 4GB. If it is anything to do with the extra storage needing it, I doubt it would require an extra 50%. People who have tried it out show the 1TB models do indeed have more RAM available for apps to use.

Because for most of the customer base, RAM size is irrelevant of the phone performance and may be misleading. A 3Gb RAM iPhone may be more performant than a 4/6Gb RAM Android phone. Same as for example in a car a 1 liter engine may be more powerful than a 1.5 liter engine in a different car. So it is omitted in order to avoid false comparisons.

Apple probably feels they should provide all products with enough RAM to function well and prefers to keep the marketing discussion more focused. And to an extent, with how iOS handles application switching and background tasks, it is far, far more reasonable to do so than it would be in the case of an Apple computer.

but if they don't take many photos/videos, why get the 11, the XS and X are even more heavily discounted now.

Should I demand that my friend who has an iPhone X show me why she only uses about 32 GB of the 64 GB she had. Perhaps she should loose her ability to buy the new Pro phone since she obviously needs the regular one? Maybe Apple should verify the person has over 64 GB on cloud before allowing them to buy a Pro? This is silly. I got some people are elitist with their phone but it's not hurting them that someone is allowed to purchase a smaller capacity. They're not stopping you from buying more.

You're implying they should not have the option to buy what they want? Sorry I don't know where you live but I live in a free country

I wonder if iOS will arbitrarily require 3Gb RAM?

Otherwise how else will Apple justify forcing me to downgrade from my 6s+ to one of the new phones without headphone jack and with worse screen while giving them a thousand dollars?

At a thousand dollars you will be getting a WAY better screen than your 6s+. I think you meant to say seven hundred dollars

I have never seen the size of the engine omitted from a car spec sheet.

Wondering if the failed Zune designers found a home at Apple. What's with the new colors? Yuck! :p

you can however, kindly ask her of her phone usage, and make suggestions accordingly base on her usage. if your that kind of person ofcourse.

they can buy whatever they want, but it makes less sense to buy a camera centric phone with only 64gb of memory. especailly when memory is at a all time low price point.
