I have found that since day one of installing g IOS 6 my iPhone 4S Internet connection is shockingly sporadic! Tested against my computer runnin alongside my phone, the computer went straight to the page I was testing but my iPhone didn't, also I tested again against my work blackberry and annoyingly it worked perfectly! So I believe it could be partly if not all to do with IOS 6 not the iPhone 5. Run your own tests and see for yourself.

I am not experiencing issues with WiFi (802.11n, 20MHz, WPA2) in general use (speed tests are normal), but WiFi Sync with iTunes rarely completes. I'm not certain it has finished once on my iPhone 5.

The problem with using sites like Speedtest.com for this testing is that it is highly dependent on the customer's ISP and access point(s) which have little to NOTHING to do with the iPhone 5.

So then the best thing to do would be to try both the iPhone 4 and 5 and compare that.

Slow WiFi

WiFi is painfully slow on my iPhone 4 as well.... nothing new here...

In the same room I have my MacMini which has WiFi icon with full bars.... On my iPhone usualy just the dot and maybe 1 bar extra. Some times it will even turn to 3G.... In my house that is... Sucks....

WiFi station is a Mac Time Capsule.

Not seeing this. In fact, compared to iPhone 4, I'm seeing marginally faster WiFi speeds and greater signal strength/distance in neighbouring rooms (irrespective of previous iP4 deathgrip).

As for 3G, the SpeedTest results seem faster too. Not sure if it's coincidence or not. I'm on T-Mobile which is super fast around here and when the phone switches to Orange, it's like sprinting through treacle on a cold day. So I doubt EE have upgraded anything around here.

IOS6 problem and not only iPhone5 problem

Since I updated my new iPad to IOS6 I have the same problems. My WLan connections sucks and the connection gets lost frequently!

I've beta tested every iPhone since the 3GS and everyone had issue out of the gate. I'll wait for beta 2-3 before I buy a iPhone 5. Lol

Mine seems to get the fastest connection in the house on WiFi (2.4 N)

It's as fast as my ethernet desktop and 25% better than the 2011 MBP.

I just ran the test on both my brother's iPhone 4 and my iPhone 5 and achieved the following results:

Ping
iPhone 4: 194ms
iPhone 5: 94ms

Download
iPhone 4: 1.98Mbps
iPhone 5: 0.39Mbps

Upload:
iPhone 4: 0.30Mbps
iPhone 5: 0.30Mbps

What does that mean? I'm a little concerned about the download speed for sure.

I've noticed intermittent slowness on both my iPhone 5 (connecting to the latest AirPort Extreme no less) and my iPhone 4S both on ios6. Sometimes it's 5mbit or so instead of the usual 30. Occurs on 5Ghz too, and on ipad 3. This happened post ios 6 GM which leads me to believe it's a bug.

I've fixed my issues by manually entering the SSID and password. IF you scan it automatically and choose the network from a list, it has issues. Entering it manually and selecting WPA2, it will work.

My SSID is hidden so i can only connect as above.

iphone5 seems faster the ipad3 on the same 5ghz network same distance from the AP. Both on ios6

Wifi issues

Unfortunately, I am experiencing wifi connectivity issues in my iPhone 5, iPod 4th gen, and a iPhone 4, but the problem is intermittent. I believe it must be a software issue that will be patched soon enough.

I can confirm that this fixed my issue. Was downloading at 5mb/s now 24mb/s; up remained about the same. THANKS MAN!

That is odd, but I would focus on the router since it only happens at your house.

For me anyway, I'm leaning toward some sort of a compatibility issue with the Speed Test app and the iPhone 5 (not necessarily iOS 6).

This morning I cleared the cookies and caches on both my iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, (and re-started them as well) then compared real-world browsing speeds. (both run iOS 6) The iPhone 5 was always faster. Yet if i ran the Speed Test application, the iPhone 5 faired poorly with speeds being about a third as fast as the iPhone 4S.

No matter how many times I ran the the test, it was always the same; real world browsing, the iPhone 5 is fastest, the Speed Test app shows something entirely different.

As far as connection issues, I was unable to connect to parent's wifi yesterday, getting the "password is incorrect" error message. I'm sure the password that I entered is fine however. Could be pilot error, I'll look into it.

I'll see if I can connect to our public wifi at work today... it is wide open.

Update: Connected at work without a hitch.

Time capsule.
Ip5 DL 1.22 mbs
Ip4s DL 18.69

Both uploads @ 2.79 which is normal

Reset, manually selecting ssId does not fix issue for me.

Seems I always have a wifi issue on new release iPhone products; not sue if its hardware or not.

I'm guessing at least some part of the problem is with iOS 6 - I have it installed on my latest gen iPad and am noticing issues connecting that I never noticed before the upgrade to 6.

The Same here. I have a wifi signal but no internet . I have to turn off wifi and back on. Then it works again . Multiple time a day, since the upgrade to iOS 6

Try using Google Public DNS on your devices and Routers. I upgraded to fibre optic broadband and although transfer speeds were good it seemed the speed with which websites were initially found seemed rather slow - suspecting DNS I switched from my ISP's DNS to Google's and it was dramatically better.

Got no problem here (WPA2 5Ghz Wireless N) using speedtest

iPhone 5: 13ms 58.41 Mbps DL 16.86 Mbps UL
