Absolutely no hints in the reseller chain(or anywhere else) about the Mac Pro, which continues to languish.

Why is everyone so against the 13" Macbook Pro?
I love the 13" Macbook Pro. I would rather have a 13" Macbook Pro than a 13" Macbook Air. :(

Or a 15" and 17" too for that matter.

I really think it's because for most consumers, the Air's ultra-light form factor wins over the MBP 13's other features. The Air is also perceived faster out of the box with it's built-in SSD because most consumers won't even tap the beefier processor found on the MBP. An SSD is going to be much more noticeable to the average consumer in day to day tasks, when all they're doing is just loading up apps, documents, and media.

I personally don't believe the 13" MBP will survive in a future lineup. Notice the history trend of MacBooks for Apple: two MacBooks of the same size never co-exist for too long.

Very excited about the refresh! I just hope they don't make it too much like the air. I would rather have more power and storage then reduced thickness. If I wanted an air, I would buy an air.

They are not going to take a MBAir spec level machine and put it in a 15" Mac Book Pro...that kills the whole point of the PRO tag/label.

Don't know why people keep complaining/worrying about this.

It's like worrying about Ford putting a Focus engine in their Shelby Mustang.

It's
Not
Going
To
Happen.

...
Apple's own online store is not yet showing any delays in fulfilling orders, but the company prioritizes its own distribution channels over third-party resellers, meaning that shortages generally show up first at those resellers.
...
The times for custom configurations which have to come from the factory haven't started to slip yet either. That makes it real diffficult to tell what's going on.

Although sometimes Apple will send out a delayed shipping notice after an order is placed instead of updating the website.

I guess I can see that, but that doesn't mean the 13" should be phased out. You can put an SSD in your Macbook Pro, you can even order one with it.

As far as saying the Macbook was phased out because there can't be two same sized laptops, I don't think that's true at all. They had them co-existing for a long time, but I think they got rid of the Macbook more so because they didn't want to have THREE laptops with the same size.

They were probably getting rid of it to allow the Macbook Air to come in, notice that they replaced the Macbooks at colleges with Macbook Airs. That was an understandable move for many many reasons.

Also, even if we were to use your reasoning of getting rid of the Macbook because of the 13" Macbook Pro, that would at least still make a bit of sense since the Macbook was pretty much a cheaper model of the Pro. I don't think that an Air would phase out a Macbook Pro, or should anyway. They're a lot different and apply to completely different consumers. If they converted 100% to Airs I feel like their laptops would be more of a gimmick than to be powerful and useful to all people. You need to apply to all markets, not just the people who travel and need something for note taking and e-mail checking.

I need a new MacBook Pro noowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I'm going to USC for grad school and I need a new computer neeeeeeooooowwwwwwww!!!!!!

Hopefully this update season kills off the MacBook Air name and simplifies the line into just MacBook and MacBook Pro. Didn't Apple originally market the 11 inch MacBook air as the "next generation MacBook"?

I think for most who buy the 13" MBPro, the 13" Air is a good enough machine for them also. I know a lot of journalism students buy the 13" MBP but it's overkill for most of them...they can get by with a top of the line Air.

I mean really, if you look at the 13" MBPro, it really is the black sheep of the MBPRo line up because it's only dual core. Sure it's got a faster processor then the Air in terms of the dual core, but most I know that use a MBPro are power users and they have the 15" and a monitor at home or the 17" solo. I haven't seen a 13" MBPro in the wild in ages.

They should have an iPad...not a laptop.

I agree. I have an 11" Air but the typing surface of the current MacBook Pros is more stable. They should keep both the Pro and Air model lines.

Hoping for:

USB 3.0. Seriously, many USB 3.0 peripherals and flash drives out there. TB deployment is not moving quickly. It's hard to imagine there would be a TB flash drive anytime soon.

SSD that is not a blade (mSata) SDD. If the MBP is slightly larger than the MBA, space should be no problem. They'll be many more choices for SSD and for upgrades if things aren't restricted to blade SSD's.

Better screen-higher res and anti-glare. Retina display is too much to expect, but more pixels.

Improved battery capacity. With optical drive going away, there'll be space. But there's a tradeoff between battery size and keeping the MBP weight low.

Retaining 1 Firewire port in this model, for backward peripheral compatibility.
It is a MBP-it should be more versatile than the MBA.

Last update wasn't too long ago... I wonder if this soon of a refresh is legit.

The last update was a minor spec upgrade. And by the time this rolls out (in a month or two..hopefully sooner) it will be overdue.

-Looking forward to a new case design (hopefully slimmer and a little lighter). -External superdrive is fine with me.
-More battery would be nice.
-although a Retina would be cool any new screen would be better than what I got.
-and the usual more ram, etc etc

I'm not Gollum, I don't play with my precious in the depths of a cave. That seems to be the only way to avoid glare.

And every single light source? And you can completely re-arrange offices that easily?

Still annoying for photo editing and design. I can still see my beautiful face in the dark areas of the screen.
