Ukraine huh ? Thats a rather odd move by Apple..... they never do videos from Ukraine..... Usually it would be Johny ivy or something....

But since i can't speak the language anyway, it is funny to watch...

I'd have my Ukrainian wife translate what she said for me but I would imagine it would sound something like "Apple has a new Macbook out and your not getting one"

Not mine, I'm from Vilnius. Ive been here for 17 yrs, but you can never forget your mother tongue. I do appreciate American conservative side, yes it is getting bad too, but not like Ukriane or Russia. I appreciate where I live now.

Back to the subject:

I like new MB, but its design seems to be more for internet, office apps and e-mail usage. It cannot replace my current rMPB, so really it is a good successor to MBA.

The Captain of Red October was also from Vilnius.

I'm very interested in seeing the rMB and will probably buy one. I also think a lot of the venom and naysaying are at best irrational nonsense. I mention those for context, because what I want to say about your post is that I'd bet cash that it will develop exactly the way you outlined, and that's perfectly OK. Actually, if it works out that way, I'll bet Apple will be very pleased, too.

True! the naysayers on this board don't prove anything but show their own ignorance.
To base your opinion on synthetic benchmarks, or just printed numbers doesn't make sense especially not in the Apple world.

um, the screen looks fake, like a print-out taped over the screen, pause the video at 7:12... and look at the top border of the image on the screen and the upper right hand corner... Oo

EDIT: hmm, upon closer inspection, that may have been intentional? I can't understand her, but she holds the printout in her hand shortly after. Looks like it may be a stolen? unit which they can't log/hack into, hence they don't turn it on at any point?

Watch it again with eng subs (just added) and you will know everythind.

Very cute video, made deliberately cute (similar to ifixit).

She spoke Russian (mostly) and said that the shown MacBook was a test sample which has been remotely disabled by Apple to prevent any pre-release benchmarks and testing. That's why she couldn't boot it up for the review. However, the girl said that she was able to run a few benchmarks before it stopped booting up. All recovey/ OTA updates have failed, but it is very likely that this sample will boot again after the official launch date.

Being flawless in three major languages pays off, sometimes. :D

I loved the jokes about the adaptor sausage! Brilliant!!!

I find it slightly disturbing Apple can remotely disable the laptops. I like to think I own the equipment I'm buying and once it's mine it can't be reached into by big brother. I'm glad there are subtitles now! Will definitely watch again. I already enjoyed watching it without audio :D

I call BS on that video. They say they played Diablo and edited photos and videos for over an hour but no video proof nor video proof of an unboxing or even a working unit? Only proof is a tightly cropped benchmark screenshot? BS

it might be a black market import from china.

That looks like quite a complete (initial) review and comparison. Didn't understand a word so she could have been talking about her pet cat for all I know, but the review looked fairly comprehensive.

There were captions in nearly flawless English.

(I realized from a later post they weren't there originally. Sorry)

She's speaking Russian, not Ukranian. And to sum it up, it's a crap upgrade. It's as fast as an Air from 2011, but with a lot less functionality. The better choice is the Macbook Pro Retina 13 inch model.

You can't compare the heavy brick of an 13" Pro to ne new MB or the 11" Air. The Pro is lot more powerful of course, but they are two totally different machines.

Either they could not afford the best spokes model or Heroine Chic is still in style on the streets of Odessa.

Well, it's a crap upgrade if you think upgrade only means faster performance, betters specs.

The new MacBook is far from perfect and the next gen will be a better buy (my guess: it will have two USB-C ports), just like it was when MacBook Air was originally released in 2008. But still it's not a crap upgrade if you value the changes made. People have different needs, why is that so hard to understand?

For some, yes. I love my MacBook Pro Retina 13" and would not trade it for a new MacBook. But I would neither make ridiculous claims to knowing what is better for people with other priorities.
