AMAZING!!! I was banned from Apple Support Communities

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I have a MBP with the anti glare problem. I started to post in the Apple Support Communities about the right solution: www.staingate.org
We must participate to force Apple to repair our MacBooks.
They banned me saying "because it contained a poll or a petition"
They are censuring the community to hide this problem, it's illegal.
Please post in Apple Support Communities this situation, we must work together to avoid this abuse. Sorry, Apple is not the company it used to be.

I had no issue getting apple to fix mine this past weekend. Mine is just a small spot next to the camera. Hopefully i will get it back by the end of the week.

Update.

Got a call that my notebook was ready to be pick up from the apple store. They had to send out the notebook to a repair center. Well, I was in a hurry to get home so i didnt really check the notebook at the store. Later, that night I was able to look at the screen and apparently the Anti-Reflective coat is coming off this new screen...... On the repair summary it stated that they change out the Houseing, top case. How could the Anti-Reflective be coming off this new screen already?

Please tell me this is a joke?
I want to buy a Mac, but this isn't helping.

Don't let this board or any other board sway your decision.

As many others have noted in multiple threads: Most people come to theses boards to express concern over some issue. For that matter, go to any product forum and your see the same.

On the other hand, millions of MBP owners have no issues, and do not not need or take the time to post how happy they are.

One thing I can say is IMHO, Apple has the best customer support!

We can assume there are different coatings and application methods available. Could be that the cost-saving one was specified by either Apple or by the screen manufacturer.

Or it could be that the process is touchy and some coatings fail even though they are the best available.

I will bet that Apple will charge this back to the manufacturer. Clearly a defect.

Remove the whole layer?

Is there a way I can just remove the entire layer?
At least then the screen will be consistently clean and free of stains.
thoughts?

I bought a cleaning solution from a guy. I worked as a charm i used it and with in 5min the whole coating was gone. It cost me like 20 bucks but it was worth it. Before i have spend hours on it with very poor results. I will post the name of the product tommorow

Dear MBP Users, who could repair their macs,
I am having the same problems with my 2013 early 15 inch retina mac, I went to apple but they refused to change the screen on my mac. I am not giving up the fight, so I just want to ask people, who already changed their screens for free, could they please send me a record of the reparation, or anything they can?
It would help me a lot!
My email address is: krisz.hu.clan at gmail.com
If anybody is having the same problem, go on http://www.staingate.org/ this page an put your apple product up there!
BR,
Krisztian Toth

I just bought rMBP 13 2015 model and i am still in the 14 day window. Does anybody think this has been solved by apple for the latest retina pros?

Is there any way to avoid MacBook from stains? Will screen protector help?!

Buy the warranty and enjoy your macbooks. I was worried about this until I realized I had a dead pixel. Got it fixed in three days. If I get the scratchy crap, I'll get that fixed too. Then, before the warranty is up sell it and get a new one, or get warranty repair, and then sell it for a new model.

This really sucks for those who have to deal with it, but there are many others who aren't dealing with this problem. Even more, deal with other problems. Warranty is the key to enjoying the macbook pro.

I just got my MacBook Pro retina Friday. It's the most current model. I hope this doesn't happen to me but I feel better knowing I have AppleCare.

I have a 2013 Retina MacBook Pro.

Because of the horrible, glossy display, I'm always rubbing it down. Why? Its stupid mirror-like appearance really makes all the smudges, dust specks, pieces of lint, and weird "greasy keyboard key outlines" really stand out.

And you know what? I've never seen this happen. Nothing has rubbed off of my display. I don't even follow Apple's recommendation. I use old t-shirts, rubbing alcohol, spit, or whatever.

I do recommend getting an anti-glare screen protector. I got a 2-pack off eBay for $14.

Of course it doesn't rub off with a screen protector on it.

Question though. How hard is it to install one of those protectors on a 13" plus screen? It's a pain getting a perfect lint free installation on an iPhone screen much less something up to 15". It'd drive me insane knowing there was a spec between my screen and protector and I'm assuming once the protector is installed you don't dare pull it off for fear of ripping the coating with it.

I had this exact issue.

In the first instance, Apple agreed to replace the screen.

On the second instance, Apple agreed to replace the screen.

On the third instance, Apple attempted to refute my claim, and only upon the threat of legal action, eventually replaced the entire machine.

Alas, the film is now wearing away, again. I am now not sure what to do since the replacement is obviously

While some Retina MacBook Pro owners covered under a one-year limited warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan have been able to get their notebook repaired through the Genius Bar for no charge, others have been told that cosmetic damage is not covered under warranty and offered to have their notebooks repaired for a service charge costing hundreds of dollars.

Looks like even Apple's not even clear on this either. This is probably why Apple supplies their Macbook's with "its own" cloth..

As long as u use it, u'r ok. but we can't vouch for others. even though they say lint free.

They've been supplying clothe long before the unibodies. Still, this is a ****** thing to happen. If Jobs was alive, it would be taken care of FAST.

I just spoke with Apple this afternoon and can confirm Apple is indeed repairing Early 2013 rMBPs with this issue (my damage is relatively minor compared to the horror photos) without any hassle! The support representative mentioned that he had read (I'm guessing in the aforementioned internal notice) the issue was in part caused by palm rest's low clearance with the screen when the device lid is closed.

I was informed I could either mail my device or bring it to a store for shipment to a repair depot with a maximum 7 day turnaround time and an average of 3-5 days. Furthermore, select stores may be able to repair on site or may have quicker turnaround time by bringing it early in the morning for shipment (depending on proximity and hubs I'd assumed). I am a software engineer and depend on my many apple devices daily to perform my duties so I opted for the in-store route. The support rep offered to call my local store (which I gratefully accepted) and was able to get me an appointment right away this afternoon despite nothing be available online.

I have to say despite the defects from time to time I am very satisfied with Apple's support as well as their engineers for recognizing and being accountable for defects. Sure, often times it may take awhile to determine a trend (which kind of puzzles me with so many devices out there) but at least Apple stands behind their products. I can think of plenty of other companies that would just say sorry it's out of warranty and offer expensive repairs or nothing. My iPhone 5S with a cracked screen was also replaced free of charge in the past so I'll continue to stay a customer. I also feel having the software and hardware combined under one company makes resolving issues in general easier since you don't need to jump around between different parties.
