There are only two useful categories in my book: junk that I never want to see (marked junk by other users) and everything else. I have to go through everything else anyway, it doesn’t help me if they’re separated further into different inboxes. Tags and snooze is all I need to stay organized. Being able to add notes would also be nice.

The item clearly says this is in the beta version of MacOS 15.4 that went out to developers today. So unless you are beta testing 15.4, you don't have it. But you can wait for 15.4 to be released, install it and then turn it off, so you won't have it then either.
I am using the beta version of macOS 15.4 that went out to developers today, and it’s not there, at least on my Mac.

This all seems like a good idea in theory, but in reality it just turns one inbox into four that must be checked anytime you're expecting an email... because the thing just isn't very good at categorizing stuff based on the context.
EXACTLY I HATE it SOOO much!

Nice to hear that it is finally available on the iPad and Mac. Wonder why the delay for releasing on these devices. That being said, I prefer to use chronological view.

The email client I use on my MacOS and iOS devices is eM Client. eM Client was the best Outlook alternative I could find.

But still no support for JMAP, probably still awful when converting HTML to plain text, and the option to prefer plain text is still gone.

Following the recent iOS update, the Mail application on my iPad is experiencing a significant synchronization issue, resulting in emails failing to load or synchronize.

Only question is "Are they going to fix the huge bug where the Today mailbox shows there are unread messages that are all actually already read?" AND why aren't my routed Junk mails not shown in the main Junk folder?
I wish they would just fix mail syncing between devices, in particular syncing of read/unread status and app badges.

Are you guys marking all your messages as read and then still seeing the unread messages badge on the icon? I’ve been getting that since the release of iOS18 and it’s driving me mad. I have to go into the app and manually pull down to trigger a re-sync. The app gives no indication of when it has finished syncing too which means sometimes I have to do it multiple times. 😫

Outlook on the Mac looks a bit weird, but it works and integrates very well across Mac/iOS/WatchOS.

Not the biggest fan of Windows 11, but outside of Windows - Microsoft is writing some fantastic software right now. I wish they would have stuck with 7, just like I wish Apple had stuck with Snow Leopard. Turns out 2009 was peak desktop.

Well Mail never closes on my Mac. I have to force quit every single time.
This has been a problem FOR A LONG TIME!!! The mail app needs a complete re-write, it is so buggy. Also, the search, while improved, is still pitiful.

Plus - I want to be able to turn off ALL JUNK MAIL filtering. Not sure why this is not possible.

As for the categories - I turn the off. I manage it myself. Not one family member I know has kept this on. Everyone I know at work also hates it and has asked for help in getting rid of the categories.

Agree all the way around. Outlook -- especially on the PC -- is just a pleasure to use, and extremely powerful. I greatly prefer MacOS and Apple hardware, but I feel that Apple is not keeping up on the software side.

Not specifically about this topic, but until I saw the large Mail app icon in this article, I never notices the tiny "Apple Park, California 95014" on the envelope before.

Maybe for you. I just reverted back to 14. I never should have updated to Sequoia. Someone else can bleed over the AI as Apple excretes the foul mess a lump at a time.

iPadOS 18.3 seems to be stable now. The initial release was a hot mess. My iPad is too old for Augmented Idiocy so it's safe.
okay I won't bother updating

this categorization feature is a piece of junk. I had a samsung phone that I was waiting for my bank app to send an sms OTP and it never worked. After struggling I found out there was a hidden "JUNK" inbox that the SMS APP has been sending my Bank OTP message to.

I just want an emails with set reminders to leave my inbox view until the assigned reminder time occurs. Seems basic. It would be such a useful feature in maintaining inbox zero.
