Imagine considering Lexus as luxury. lol.
ridiculous comment! Lexus is REAL luxury with rock solid Toyota reliability, try to live in the real world where people value dependability, reliability and comfort.
Also this car is eco friendly because it will be still be on the road in 30 years time when space karen musks tent made cars are coke cans.

My car (and last few!) has automatic climate control. I change the temp maybe a dozen times the entire year.

What are people doing with the climate controls that they need to constantly fiddle with them? Put it on auto, and let it do its thing.

I definitely do not want physical climate controls if it means a smaller map display. Give me the larger screen every time!

I drove this last week. Still the noisy cvt-like transmission. Feels much slower than it actually is.

Which engine config did you drive? I suspect the plug-in hybrid would be the best option for performance - supposedly 0-60 in the low 6s range. The rest of the lineup is still pokey with that CVT. Unfortunately, it'll probably be impossible to pay anything close to a reasonable price for that PHEV version given the current supply shortages.

Lexus just gets uglier every year. Dead brand.
Yeah, they used to make decent looking cars different to typical ugly Japanese car designs, now they are just another ugly Japanese car design unnecessarily more expensive.
more and more similar to regular Toyotas with just better material for seats / dash and they’re asking top of the range Audi,BMW level money for these..

Not going to happen.
either get cheaper Korean makes that look good and are as reliable or if you want premium beauty ,then German.

“How can we publish an article about a car on a website related to Apple products?”

“It has CarPlay!”

“Right! Publish it!”
These articles are very helpful for people set on using CarPlay, actually. Few people in automotive circles talk about the CarPlay experience, ie whether it’s wired or wireless, the screen quality, full screen or only part of the screen, etc. Plus there’s also the new built in Apple Music app. Automotive journalists talk more about the driving experience, 0-60 times, handling, things like that. And that’s okay, it’s nice for different articles to focus on different things.

I'd rather have these articles than another thinly veiled advertisement for a new charger or iDevice themed clothing. The user experience of the infotainment system, and how well it integrates CarPlay, is a major consideration in what vehicle we will purchase because it's something we use constantly every time we get in the vehicle. When we bought a new van earlier this year, Toyota was off the list in large part because they have - until this Lexus - really dragged their feet on their in-car software. Their brand new minivan has interior controls that feel five years out of date. Glad to see they appear to have stepped up their game.

The Genesis GV80, GV70 look very pleasing to the eyes and they have some good tech to go with it.

$60K for this vehicle. I don't know know whether to laugh or cry. And, regardless of price, I don't want a 14-inch touchscreen. I don't want a touchscreen at all.

60K? For a RAV-4 with an ugly grille?

Why on earth would someone buy this?!

A Mercedes GLC or BMW X3 would be a much better purchase. Hell, a CPO Porsche Macan is in the 60K range. Not too mention the Volvo XC60.
All much better choices.

Recently got a car with wireless Carplay and I was quite surprised how good it is, how smooth the screen animations are and so forth. Very convenient feature.

It'll sell very well in Europe and I don't think it's a bad looking car. I like the way CarPlay has finally integrated itself into HUD displays. (I have a BMW with ID6 so unfortunately my generation of the car never had that integration with my HUD which is one of the reasons I don't use CarPlay on long drives).

I also love the widescreen approach which is also very BMW-esque. It's one thing that CarPlay needs. A good wide-screen display to use it properly. All these square displays are utterly terrible and don't allow you to enjoy the multi-view dashboard properly.

While I agree with the removal of physical car controls being a pain, I'm not sure what the issue is with CarPlay and touchscreen. I retrofitted CarPlay to her older generation BMW and while usability is ok, CarPlay is very much designed for a touch interface and that's how it works best. I also use Siri a lot in the car (with mixed results).

I've just placed a pre-order on a BMW i4 which comes with ID8, so many of the small issues such as HUD integration, native full-screen CarPlay, (only possible on my car with a coding hack), but I'm going to have to wait until April for delivery.... :(

Love my 2021 NX, and I just use the cplay2air dongle to get wireless CarPlay.
I do the same with my Santa Fe, but it is not as good as a dedicated unit. I installed a kenwood wireless carplay head unit in my old Mazda. It connects in about twenty secs as opposed to the 34 secs CarLinkit module I use in the Santa Fe, which believe me is a very big difference. It is also less reliable.
Still reliable enough to enjoy it though.
