I purchased the Rhino Shield PlayProof during their Black Friday sale. The case cost me $24.99 shipped, which I believe is a great value for this case. I'm going to review it and give you my opinion of this case.

Firstly, the packaging of the case is excellent. The color of my case Dark Blue.

The case feels very well made and it appears the materials used are high quality.

There's a honeycomb type pattern inside the case, which Evolutive calls eggdrop technology. The case is a hybrid design of two materials. You can clearly see this in the pictures. Evolutive claims the combination of their eggdrop design and their special polymer gives this case an incredible 11.5 feet of drop protection.

I watched Aaron's video review, at Mobile Reviews and he tossed this case around extensively. He also dropped it from about 10 feet and there was no damage to his iPhone. It was an impressive display of PlayProof's drop protection capabilities.

@kgenova (Kristin) also did a great YouTube review of this case, going over its features and showing close up shots of the case. Check it out!

What's truly amazing about this case, it's super thin for such a highly rated drop protective case. Plus, it's very light. 26g for iPhone 6 and 33g for iPhone 6 Plus.

The picture below compares thickness versus a variety of iPhone cases and the PlayProof. As you can see, the difference is quite measurable. This case barely adds bulk and length to the iPhone. When compared to the PlayProof, all these other cases felt huge on my iPhone.

The case fits like a glove and it installs fairly easy. There's no play around the perimeter of the case. It has a nice snug fit.

The camera cutout is well done and the case has a nice protective lip, which allows you to safely lay your iPhone bottom or face down on a flat surface. The buttons are super responsive and very clicky. I can easily say the responsiveness of the buttons are some of the best around, if not the best in my opinion.

In regards to grip, I wouldn't categorize this as a grippy case. It's slippery on the back. The sides do have more grip. I personally would have liked more grip. If grip is high on your list of musts in a case, you may want to look elsewhere.

Having said that, there are trade offs between cases. I like that this case is really thin, when compared to others in its class. I like the amazing drop protection and super responsive buttons, so for me these things override its lack of grip.

I believe as the case wears in, they'll be a little more grip. After using the phone today, I'm already noticing the case feels more comfortable in my hands, but this could be me getting use to the case.

How Evolutive Labs was able to create an 11.5 foot drop protective case that is so thin and light is truly amazing. Minus its lack of grip, this case offers everything you would want in a drop protective case.

If protecting your phone is your number one concern, you really can't go wrong with the PlayProof.

Overall I'm super pleased with PlayProof's thin form factor, the fit and finish is excellent and the buttons are just perfect. I can honestly say this is a super case. I can highly recommend it.

I've been considering the PlayProof after watching some reviews on YouTube. Would I be able to use the PlayProof with a curved edge screen protector?

Danny,

I would say it's doubtful it will work with curved edge protector, going by the PlayProof's very snug fit.

Thanks Kristin!

It's a great case. I just love it's slim form factor, for an ultra protective case.

Cupert is sending me out the latest Cinder to review for the 6s Plus soon, so I will be sure to try it out with the PlayProof!

It was either your review or another, someone posted in comments they got it to work. Having tried myself with other cases, don't see how it would work with this case. I'm looking forward to your feedback on this or a video. :)

I agree that I am somewhat skeptical as to its likelihood of fitting, but I intend to try it out just the same :) It would be a great combo if it worked!

@scjr When did you order the case and how long did it take for you to receive it? I placed an order on Cyber Monday and received a tracking number on Wednesday but haven't seen any movement yet.

scjr, awesome review and photos! Nice to hear your thoughts and happy that you are enjoying the case :) Funny...I'm color blind and thought you got the black case by looking at the photos until I read that you got dark blue haha! Still, it looks great and I can easily echo everything you stated here. This case is stellar.

Ordered Wednesday, before Thanksgiving. Tracking updated on Friday. Arrived Monday of the following week.

I appreciate your kind words. I'm glad you found the review to be helpful.

I'm really enjoying the case. The slimmer form factor, with all the protection is perfect. I really like how easily it slips into my pants pocket. I'm getting use to the lack of grip. In a way, it's easier to manipulate the phone in my hands.

Were you able to track the package with the tracking number? All I'm getting is "shipping label created" for my tracking number.

It did initially, but then just showed up out of the blue on Monday. It may just show up, without an update. I've had that happen before with USPS.

What color or design did you get? After you receive it, post up your thoughts. :)

I really like this case but was wondering what screen protectors you guys are using. To those that have this case, can you post what screen protectors work (and maybe what doesn't too)? Thanks!

I use the use this one and with the PP's lip, I think the phone is protected well with this combo.

I think just about any non-edge to edge will work. As snug as the PP fits around the phone, I doubt a curved protectors will work.

Just saw on their Facebook that they have a new code that'll take $5 off. Good thru Christmas! I just ordered one for my dad's new phone but this is tempting for me to try myself.

Nice!

I got $5 off for Black Friday. Great case and well priced, even without a discount. Super value, with the discount.

Just received the PlayProof earlier today and it has already become my favorite case.

Almost got the case to work with a curved edge screen protector. The lower left corner of the case was barely touching the screen protector but it was enough to cause the screen protector to lift.

Which curved edge screen protector were you trying it with?

Ooh thanks for the tip, just ordered one!

I currently have a Speck Candyshell Grip with a Daswise screen protector and those work well together, even with the Speck's lip. I will report back on the Daswise's compatibility with the Playproof when it arrives!
