It looks generic. There are some no-name ones on Amazon that look the same.

Relatively inexpensive at $12.95.

If the lanyard were Apple boxed & branded it would be priced at $129.95
Nah! The Apple Lanyard would be $49.95 more likely. Even the Pro Max model wouldn't be priced more than $99.95.

Do people really hang their $300 headphones from a string on a zipper tab? It doesn't sound like a good idea. :)

Unlike most of the people commenting on this article, I actually own this lanyard. Works great and the case doesn’t pop open, as it’s secured by a magnet. Apple obviously designed the APP2 around the lanyard and wouldn’t allow that to happen.

Put it hanging loose on the zipper tab of your backpack and try going on a bus, train or a bike ride...

I'm mildly surprised Apple didn't have a proprietary connector for the lanyard, and sell Apple branded lanyards for $29.99.

It's just a hole you can tie any old piece of string around, right? A rare missed opportunity for a flourishing accessory market.

The lanyard loop might be the dumbest waste of engineering time and research dollars I've seen in a while. Then to not even try to capitalize on it and sell your own lanyard. Yikes.

Is it worth writing an article about a string? Yes, if it's a paid sponsorship. It's a string, guys.

I don’t understand why people are flipping out over $10 when they just spent $250 for earbuds…

I mean you can go in AliExpress or probably Walmart and get earbuds for $30 or less if cost is a concern.
Spending $250 on AirPods has nothing to do with the perceived value of this lanyard though. It's just another case of "people spend lots of money on Apple gear, let's try to ride Apple's coat tails with some preposterous pricing of our own"

In the imaged backpack, I see at least two great zippered pockets where the AirPod case could go. Why bother with a lanyard? That is one thing I never even thought about using for the AirPods.

Not much of a saving.

Wasn't there a later model iPod Touch with a lanyard? Seems like it had an engineered metal flip out mechanism you hooked the lanyard to. Am I dreaming?
PS - love the new Pro2s. Sound much better than the 1st Pro, maybe the lanyard makes it even louder?
May even sell my heavyweight Airpod Max now, they get uncomfortable on me...

If you like having your AirPods stolen totally get this and hang it on your backpack.

I spent a couple hours trying to get a ring through the AirPod pros 2 finally gave up and just ended up putting a wire wrap through the loophole and attached a carabiner to it so I could easily get on and off my keys.
