Seems like it should’ve been called the iPhone 13S pro….instead of iPhone 14 pro.

reviewers are saying for the most part with one or two scenarios the camera differences between 13 pro and 14 pro are almost indistinguishable.

i mean honestly it’s the same review year after year for the most part.

but for me I am disappointed about the battery life. I read one review ran a test where the 13 pro beat the 14 pro by 2 hours.

The screen also apparently never hit 2000 nits in one reviewers test…

So it’s looking one minor upgrade and a lot of downgrades…

What reviews are you watching?! Camera review from Peter Mckinnon who is a photographer is positive amongst others…

The ProRaw is drastically improved.

Wasn't that the boost from 12 pro to 13 pro in real world use was roughly 2 hours? or more substantial?

in either case, glad I went for 14PM to compensate for this (hopefully).

No offense, but since you linked no articles or reviews, you are speculating on a speculation.
Here you go https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/iphone-14-pro

unlike the rest of the reviews they actually did tests. i swear most of the reviews on the phone is vague and personal which doesn’t offer much to go off of. We needs stats and confirmation of apples claims. Toms guide discovered 2000 nits doesn’t get hit and they found battery life subpar.

gizmodo, tech radar and basically 80 percent of reviewers were sucking up to apple big time.

I think Verge should re-review camera after day 1 update:

which they focused on heavily for the review (like 80% of it I would say)

See, this is so much better than your original post. Much more helpful than “I hear people are saying…..”

Don’t get me wrong guys I am excited for the 14 Pro since I am moving from an 8. And I only have an 8 because my 12 pro got stolen.

Let me tell ya. You don’t truly appreciate how much an upgrade a phone is until you go backwards lol

i did read the 14 pro had better thermals than the 12 pro

Hopefully day 1 patch fixes a lot of these issues. It’s also possible that the always on display feature can somehow be running the battery or photo indexing in the background could be occurring.

most of these YouTubers suck at doing reviews…. Like no one did A single test on how the new gps frequencies fare in the city. One of the most annoying things I have to deal with is when using an iphone gps in the city The location will move around and be delayed.

So hoping there is a huge improvement there which would be a big deal for me.

I have only seen two of the reviewers Peter McKinnon and MKBHD. Peter really enjoyed the camera and that was pretty much all of his review and it was mostly about the recording not really the photography aspect of it. He did mention that video (if you watch it) was done completely by the iPhone 14 Pro so take that how you will. MKBHD said in his video he wasn't going to really dive into the camera system and will let others do that, but he really enjoyed the "Dynamic Island" and how actually useful it was and seemed to enjoy the AOD and only critiqued that it seems (to him) that because of the AOD brightness he noticed a little dip in battery life compared to the 13.

I guess "meh" is in the eye of the beholder. The review in your link gives it 4.5 out of 5 stars, said there were "big camera upgrades", it's "a poweruser’s dream", has "got power for days" and concludes: "I think that the iPhone 14 Pro is truly the best phone that Apple has ever released, crushing everything else before it. It easily earns my utmost recommendation."

It does note that it "isn’t the huge upgrade you might have expected, but that’s because the iPhone 13 Pro did a lot right." But really, I wouldn't call that a "meh" review by any stretch of the imagination. I suppose you might be disappointed if you want a new phone every year, but I'm not one of those people. Still completely happy with my own 12 Pro Max with no plan to upgrade this year.

Based on the reviews I've seen I agree with OP. Verge and MKBHD both said that AOD was causing battery issues. I believe one of them even said they disabled it because of drain.

I also read people complaining about how it confused them sometimes thinking the phone was awake when in reality it was in AOD mode asleep.

personally to save oled and battery life I plan on never using the AOD feature.

if apple added usb C to this generation instead of next Years we would truly have had a massive upgrade 😂.

it seems apple is still doing S upgrades without the name scheming they last did with the XS. I imagine they realized that the S naming scheme was actually hurting sales in a big way as it defined a nominal upgraded device which translated Into less hype and interest by consumers.

The new Verge look is terrible. When I opened it yesterday I almost blinded myself. And that new Allison Johnson, writes like a high school kid.

Putting on my tin foil hat one of two things both equally hilarious

1- THAT out of touch they thought this was a good look
2- purposefully wrecked the site for notoriety and morbid curiosity clicks

The content IS crap too! They’re a joke

well to be honest there is an embargo from Apple for tech reviewers. You won't see any real indepth reviews until after Friday.
But there is ALWAYS a site that will put out a negative review of the iphone to generate a ton of site traffic. Especially before release date

Disappointed with the photos to be honest, to me the 13 Pro photos looks much richer and more depth. For me the Camera was the major motivation to upgrade but now I think I will just keep my 13 Pro.
