Here you go https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/iphone-14-pro

unlike the rest of the reviews they actually did tests. i swear most of the reviews on the phone is vague and personal which doesn’t offer much to go off of. We needs stats and confirmation of apples claims. Toms guide discovered 2000 nits doesn’t get hit and they found battery life subpar.

gizmodo, tech radar and basically 80 percent of reviewers were sucking up to apple big time.
That’s because individual use cases vary greatly from person to person. Plus the money is on the line. Also, people relying on review to make decisions without Thinking is on them.

Hopefully day 1 patch fixes a lot of these issues. It’s also possible that the always on display feature can somehow be running the battery or photo indexing in the background could be occurring.

most of these YouTubers suck at doing reviews…. Like no one did A single test on how the new gps frequencies fare in the city. One of the most annoying things I have to deal with is when using an iphone gps in the city The location will move around and be delayed.

So hoping there is a huge improvement there which would be a big deal for me.
Right now it was a race to get the initial reviews out first for the views. Next week we’ll have much more detailed ones surface

Seems like it should’ve been called the iPhone 13S pro….instead of iPhone 14 pro.

reviewers are saying for the most part with one or two scenarios the camera differences between 13 pro and 14 pro are almost indistinguishable.

i mean honestly it’s the same review year after year for the most part.

but for me I am disappointed about the battery life. I read one review ran a test where the 13 pro beat the 14 pro by 2 hours.

The screen also apparently never hit 2000 nits in one reviewers test…

So it’s looking one minor upgrade and a lot of downgrades…
That's the AOD tax...you don't get always on displays for free. This is engineering not magic.

It's not 2012 any more, we don't get a revolution every year. I'm coming from a busted X, I imagine it will feel like quite the upgrade.

To be fair, the dynamic island is up there with the best of the 2012 era revolutions

Coming from any other iPhone, the 14 Pro will be a massive upgrade. I will be going from a standard 13 to 14 pro (6.1 inches display)

All these articles about the camera are nice of course and I appreciate the amount of work, these reviewers did. However they mean nothing for me personally as a photographer without opportunity to download original RAW files from 48MP camera and open them in Photoshop and try out editing them in Camera RAW.:(
Agreed! Taking photos with the new 48mp is cool and all, but I want to see a review on how well the photos do with editing tests and see how much we can really stretch and recover

I watched the MKBHD review as I always like his stuff. Haven't taken the time for others yet. I did get the impression that because there is no major revolution that it is more iterative and whatnot, but until you get a folding device or something like that the 15 isn't likely to be a major jump either.

The 15 will likely feature USB-C and a minor to modest chip improvement but likely not as big of a camera improvement. That and Dynamic Island 2.0 which will be interesting, but iOS 17 will also bring Island updates to the 14 Pro lineup. So USB-C will be one thing. That will likely mean 8K video because it will easier to dump large files.

However, I would prefer my 14 Pro Max to last 2-3 years or longer as I replace my 12 Pro Max (2-3 year upgrade cycle) and keep my lightning and all my cables for longer. I don't do much video and transitioning to a USB-C is not a near term issue I need to deal with.

My Android friends has always said Apple is all about marketing. I always brushed it off. After the iPhone event and the reviews today .. I am starting to believe them. The 14 Pro is barely any different in the camera department compared to the 13 Pro but Apple's marketing threw out numbers like 2x, 3x better or the biggest leap for the iPhone. From now on, I will not watch Apple events anymore, lol.

Hasn’t this been the case for years? 🤷‍♂️😕

On Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, can you tell who is shooting with an 11, 12, 13, 14 or their Pro variants?
If you have to zoom in 100-200 to tell, is the difference meaningful?

The new Verge look is terrible. When I opened it yesterday I almost blinded myself. And that new Allison Johnson, writes like a high school kid.

Nilay is a clown with more money than sense.

Bring back Dieter and never let anyone else at The Verge review an iPhone.

Yeah, all Apple has going for them is marketing.

Oh, and demonstrably the best silicon in the industry.

Oh, and what is widely regarded as the best hardware design & quality in the industry.

Oh, and what is widely regarded as the best hardware/software synergy in the industry.

Oh, and what is demonstrably the longest period of hardware support via OS upgrades in the industry.

(Would be easy to keep going here.)

Also, the exact numbers aren't publicly disclosed to the same degree anymore, but Apple's spend on iPhone marketing may surprise you if you were to compare it with Samsung's, for example.

I’ve been wanting a phone with no notch since Apple introduced the notch. Because of this I have my 14 pro arriving Friday. I had a 13 pro then got a 13 mini to try because I just wanted to try the small phone before going notchless. Turns out, I REALLY like the mini.

I also thought I’d love to go larger by going max, but not interested in the weight, so I went regular pro, but after seeing reviews, IDK what I think - on the one hand I think I’ll LOVE the deep purple phone, but on the other I think I’d enjoy a bigger phone, and could get a regular 14 plus, but then I also love my mini. ;-p

So I am just holding out for Friday and wondering where I’ll actually wind up after that.

Welp, there is what the reviewers think, which very well could be separate and distinct from what the global buying public thinks.

Bahahahaa it’s like the trolls aren’t even trying anymore!

I think people need to shift their expectations. Smart phones are a mature market now. When iPhones were new, there were obvious points of improvement because the tech was so new. That time is now long gone. Outside of a few fun surprises like Dynamic Island, there’s very little that can change on the hardware that would be truly revolutionary.

It may or may not be "meh" from the 13 Pro to 14 Pro, but I am about to upgrade from an 11 Pro. I've already seen enough to make the move to a 14 Pro so from my perspective, I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with it.
I'm coming from an 11 Pro Max so it will also be "Woohoo!" for me - 5G, new battery, better screen, better processor, better camera, Dynamic Island, etc...

As a photographer and videographer I am waiting for Apple to get to the Sony level of smartphone photography/videography.

From the footage in the Peter Mckinnon video, the 14 Pro is still way off. Admittedly it was test footage and admittedly it was through the native app with few manual controls, but the underlying features are just clearly not anywhere near to Sony's phones.

For reference the Xperia 1 IV:

The Xperia Pro-I

Truly unbelievable footage from a smartphone. Apple has a lot to catch up on.
