I had one major problem with the (MagSafe) clear case, and it was one Apple acknowledged, but couldn’t fix so I got a refund. When you use an Apple Wallet with the MagSafe clear case on an iPhone12 it doesn’t make a ding and give a circle to say it has recognised the Wallet. With the (black) silicone case you get a satisfying ding and circle when you add the Wallet, and a ding when you remove the Wallet. All you get with the clear case is a ding when you remove it. You can’t be sure the phone has recognised it When you put it on. I tried many combinations at the local Apple Store and they told me it was obviously a problem and I was given a refund. They told me to write to Tim Cook, gave me his email, but I never heard back. I’m happy with my black silicone case and Wallet but thought someone should know.
I can’t tell if your being serious or not. Yes it’s true that it doesn’t make the sound when you place the wallet. Is it something worth getting a refund over? Absolutely not. The sound is only for aesthetics. It makes no difference functionally. I really hope you didn’t make that big of a fuss at the Apple store for that.

I think it's worth getting a refund over, but I won't add the word "Absolutely" like you did. I also hope they didn't make a big fuss. I hope they just did some calm experiments with an employee and then asked for a refund. All parties would have learned something.

I don't really know the purpose of the sound when connecting. For now, maybe there's no associated functionality that is triggered. For example, I don't see any automation triggers related to it and I can't imagine any automation that would be useful to me anyway. But, it's important to have a device's features working as advertised in case they become significant.

This accessory works if you live someplace where everything is digital and you don’t really need any physical cards with you. I don’t live in such a magical place. I need my license (like most states we don’t have digital IDs), medical ID (I have a digital one but it’s not accessible from the Lock Screen - what would an EMT do then?), transit card (we don’t have device-based transit payments), credit card (lots of places do NOT have Apple Pay), debit card (when you need cash), plus a little cash. Oops, that‘s 6 things right there, but the Apple Wallet can only hold 3.

And having to remove the wallet + remove all the cards in it to get to the one you need is ridiculous. A conventional wallet doesn’t have this limitation.

This entirely depends where you live. Our drivers licenses and transit cards live in apps here in Arizona. And I find most places I go have some sort of mobile payment available, even if it isn’t Apple Pay (eg, Walmart Pay).

This allows me to literally carry nothing but the physical Apple Card in the off chance the place doesn’t take mobile payments at all….which was literally just a car key making machine in the vestibule at my grocery store. That was the only time I had to use a physical card.
