rMBP 13 inch 16GB Ram upgrade -> 3-4 weeks delivery

Uh-oh

About four or five days ago, I was encouraged to see that my Black Friday order for a 2.8/16/512 13" rMBP finally showed up in my online credit card account as a pending transaction. Today, that charge (pending or otherwise) is nowhere to be found.

I suspect that this may have something to do with Apple's bump yesterday from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks for the 16 GB option. My Apple Store pickup date, however, remains at 20 Dec.

Did you order the same spec's as mine? I had it shipped to local Apple Store. I was surprised that I got it a week early.

Looks like almost exact the same except I got an i5 (specs below). Seems like you got lucky! The pending charge is still sitting on my card - I saw someone else say the charge went away.

2.6GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
512GB Flash Storage

Same here - all week. Status finally changed to preparing for shipment sometime today!
 
I'm probably just being impatient here but I've been in the Online Store all day checking on my new toy ever since I ordered it. Hopefully it'll ship soon; otherwise I might cancel my order and go with the base model instead, and use the savings on a pair of noise cancelling headphones. If all else fails, I'll probably do just that....pick up one of the stock models.

I'm doubting to myself if I really need the 16GB but then again my late 2011 MBP with a 2.9GHz i7 and 4GB is a tad on the slow side for me. Casual user with some heavy internet browsing and light multitasking. Some graphics on GIMP lol :D I may run VM occasionally.

Good to know - hopefully by early next week mine ships:/ Kind of disappointing to see such confusion over shipping times.

I suggest you wait for the 16GB Ram machine, as cannot be upgraded later. You may find a 16GB unit on a store, but may not be exactly the config you are looking for.

Hmm...yeah probably. I wonder if asking for it to be held at a FedEx location instead would speed things up a bit...I did spring for the $14 expedited shipping and the online store shows 2-3 business days shipping, but I go out of town on the last day of the delivery window....this makes me nervous. Given the holiday season and how FedEx and UPS are going to be absolutely rammed with packages, I'm kicking myself for not having ordered sooner.

Apple says available to ship in 1-2 weeks, and tomorrow's the 1-week mark. Hoping it ships closer to tomorrow than the 15th.
 
Well my delivery date finally updated from Dec 23rd to Dec 13!! Got ship notice on the 6th. Very nice

This morning my status changed to Preparing for Shipment! What's a little wierd is the pending charge disappeared from my credit card. I'm assuming it will just become a full charge when the item ships.

BTW - I wouldn't hold your breath for the earlier shipping window - looks like they are up to shipping orders ~November 17th if you got 16GB of RAM and the store just changed to 2-3 weeks again recently.
 
Changed to shipped

Yay! My order from the Nov 19th with an original pickup date of Dec 25th changed to shipped today. Should have it some time next week. Huzzah!
 
I ordered mine on November 23rd, when it was a 1-2 week estimate. My estimated arrival dates were (are) 12/6-12/13. Mine still shows processing. I'm getting skeptical that they'll hit their estimate on mine, but we'll see.

Mine is a Christmas gift (for me) so it doesn't really matter as long as it makes it by 12/24. :)
 
Mine was ordered 13th November.

i7/16GB/256SSD

My estimated delivery dates are 11th December- 18th December, and the status is still "Processing Items"

I've seen than people who ordered later than me receive the Macbook earlier.

Should I be worried?
 
Called Apple to ask about my order status and an extremely helpful rep expedited my order for me and threw in a set of Bose computer speakers because the shipping was taking so long.

Probably the best customer service experience I've had since... well... ever!

Yeah my experience wasn't as good - had to call 3 times before I got a rep who actually helped:) Mine's been sitting in Preparing for Shipment all weekend - guess Monday will be the magic day (at least I hope).

It's getting closer!

Mine was shipped on the 4th Dec with est delivery on the 11th, still no tracking information updated on the order status page. Apparently it needs to be combined with apple care and ethernet/vga adapter before been given a tracking number.
