This seems to conflict with what Apple is displaying in stores...
Does that mean that the configuration at the RETAIL STORE? I am not challenging you just because, I really want to go and pick up one of this babies at the store, instead of waiting for 3 weeks for delivery, believe me!
Did you get one at the store? If so, when?
My local apple store had a few in stock when I last checked as well.
Best advice for getting one from the store:
Go online and choose the ultimate configuration. Then at exactly 8:00pm, the option to pick up in store should be available. I was told by the manager at the local store that they list their inventory at 8pm for people to order online for in store pickup. So, if they have any ultimate in stock, it would probably only be 1 or 2 so you really have to be on there right at 8pm.
The iPad next to the RMBP display units lists the Ultimate model as an in store configuration as posted in the picture. In theory they will stock it, eventually. The stores I have spoken to are yet to receive any configuration that has the 768GB storage.
I have a .... contact at Apple. This model is supposed to be carried but no one knows when.
I will call the stores again tomorrow. I will post whatever they tell me then. I would love to get one of these soon. I also ordered a Thunderbolt display, which is sitting there unused, because my MBP now has display port, not compatible. What a cruel waiting game!

Importance of thunderbolt connection
Hi, I got my 2,7 16Gb but with 512Gb HD as, my opinion of course, using Thunderbolt connections, internal HD size lost his great importance.
Thunderbolt is a big revolution, as it can handle video post processing cards as well as HD devices as fast as the internal one.
All this must be evaluated in the choice of the computer configuration, I think.

It's positively unhealthy how often I've been clicking refresh on my order status page...
I called three Apple stores again, I asked for clarifications about carrying the ultimate RMBP, they said that eventually they may stock it, but not right now, and depending on the store, it would be 1-3 months until you can get one there. In the three times I asked for the business representative.

The local Apple Store Business Unit manager told me that the Ultimate configuration is one listed as one the stores will carry, however they are yet to see one that shipped to any store or as BTO of the many they ordered on day one for business customers. They checked for me with various other nearby stores and all said no ULTIMATE has been shipped to them. While the basic and 2.6 with 500GB have been slowly and sporadically arriving, no one knows of an Ultimate that has been delivered to any retail customer or demo at the store.
Does your contact at apple have anything to say about the scrolling, mission control, window resizing lag? Or the screen ghosting? Curious to see if any insider knows whats going on with all that...
Well, it seems the 768 is not delivering anytime soon.
Couple have received shipping notifications so we're getting there.
