lame voice plans

Those plans are lame for a 60$/month bill and a 3 year contract.

Sorry but we need more minutes and start the unlimited evenings at 6PM not 9PM! Data seems fine for me, I have plenty access to wifi...
IMO the first plan at 30-40$ can be a huge killer and get Rogers a lot a new customers...

I can't imagine Canadians getting iPhone 3G now..
It was so close yet Rogers chose to screw us over..

Similar to bell and telus?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 1 GB of data $100 on both telus and bell as well?

Well, as someone who has worked for the telecom industry for quite some time, I can easily answer that question: whoever makes the call pays; simple as that for obvious reasons, from a consumer's point of view. And this is what 90% of the civilized markets for mobiles do.

That's why interconnection charges exist, to compensate carriers for their chunk of work in sending or receiving a call. And no, I am not talking about roaming charges...

But from a landline user's perspective...
If I'm calling a local telephone number (that is, a number that is registered in the same local exchange as I am physically located), I don't expect to pay for it. Period. No matter what type of equipment is connected to the other end of the line.

If the person on the other end of the line is using a cell phone, then he should pay for the luxury of using that medium of communication.

If I'm going to need to pay for a phone call being emitted from a landline phone, then it can only be for a long distance or 1-900 toll service, and in order to do that I need to go through a special dialing sequence so that there is no mistake about what I'm getting myself into. That makes sense to me.

In North America, there is absolutely no distinction between dialing a telephone number that is registered in a given local exchange as a landline phone, or as a cell phone, or as a fax machine, or as anything else. Heck, you can even easily switch a single telephone number back and forth between a cell phone and a landline phone.

The Answer

The answer to the "Rogers problem" is to petition Apple to produce a dual-mode CDMA/GSM cellphone (Samsung and others already make them). We would then be able to choose any carrier in Canada.... fair competition.

It would be soooo cool if they sold Z E R O iPhones on July 11th .:p

I will definitely not buy it !

Those plans suck

Both my wife and daughter used almost 3GB each in casual surfing (my bb I used about 50MB i dont use the damn thing the browser is so bad).

No unlimited internet pans at all?

Good Greif!

OMFG! That plan's terrible! I'm in the UK and as previously posted we have a pretty good plan (600 mins talk, 500 texts, unlimited data); but the thing that really freaks me about this "Rogers" plan is the extras... INCOMING calls are included in the talk mins? is that right? surely not... And the wording of the plan suggests that incoming SMS texts are normally included too, but allowed to be unlimited for this specific plan... Not to mention the separate caller ID charge!!!! WTF is that all about!
If canadians wanted to start a revolution against these Rogers jokers i'm sure i'm speaking for the rest of the word (not a phrase i get to say a lot with any confidence ) when i say.... We'll be right there with you guys!!! They seriously need to be taken down with some competition, is there none in canada? If not... Do you have a Monopolies and Mergers Committee to report them too?

On a less aggressive note ;) If it helps, i thought i used a lot of data (internet and email), but i've checked my phones stats and i've used less than 100mb in the last 2 months! Either i'm a much lighter user than i thought or that 400mb limit isn't too ridiculous after all(!?)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) HTC-6900-MR1)

I guess I'm going to have to stick to $40 per month for unlimited talk/text (even long distance) to 5 people, 1000 nights/weekends, 100 anytime, unlimited data, 200 text messages, voicemail and caller id on my htc touch with Bell.

OMFG!

just remember that loading the same page on a blackberry will cost a lot more(more data) on an iphone cus its a real webpage
