Wow those are brutal compared to US plans... and I thought US plans were bad!

no rockstar...as bad as you think it is for you, you have it good bud.

these new rogers plans just canned the idea for me. I was very close to getting it, but even though I could afford it, I won't pay those rates.

they can roll them up on a piece of paper and shove it up there you know what.

the $60 isn't bad, but the fact they don't include caller id or some of the other features in their 'value plan'.. yikes.

morons.

The answer to the "Rogers problem" is to petition Apple to produce a dual-mode CDMA/GSM cellphone (Samsung and others already make them). We would then be able to choose any carrier in Canada.... fair competition.

Unless other markets have the same problem as we (Canada) do, it won't make any difference. Apple is not going to change the hardware of the iPhone just for Canada, and unless I'm mistaken, this is a hardware rather than software issue.

I'd like to see a chart which shows all the countries where we have pricing data for the iPhone plans, so we can cross-reference the cost of the plans, plus what the data limitations are.

If we find that it's just Canada getting screwed over here, then it does give us some weight to put behind a campaign to get the pricing changed. Even if the only change is to get the plans changed to be unlimited data, even if unlimited really means 3GB per month, it would be something.

However, I'd like to see the the current plans all drop by $20 *and* have unlimited data. This $20 shortfall would make the true monthly price match what Rogers is currently touting.

The best way to protest is by NOT buying the product, period.

Compared to Brazil, these prices are very affordable. Last time I checked Claro (Brazilian provider) was charging as much as 6K+ Dollars after a two-year slavering plan.

That's why there are crazy Chinese ripoffs being selling as hot cakes there. Cheaper, unlockeable and with all sort of goodies.

If you do not like, do not buy it. This will make Roger change something to steal less from consumers.

How about bringing the first generation iPhone to Canada? Not to replace the 3G, but as an alternate choice? Make it unlocked so we can use any cellphone company, and I'd be glad to buy "old tech". It would be better than carrying my 2.3cm thick LG phone and my iPod touch...

To those of you using an iPhone with AT&T, is there an easy way to check your data usage?

Another reason I cancelled my Fido data plan is you can't see how much data you've used until your monthly bill has been printed. Wouldn't be hard to go over the 400MB or 750MB data limit and not know it.

Get ready for some massive bills.

Any mention of roaming rates in the US?

To check data usage on a iPhone go to settings/Usage. My edge data reads as 136MB sent 1.2GB received. This is not the 1990's where the internet was still something new and all websites were essentially all text and WAP websites are on the endangered list.

The iPhone by it's very nature is just as much a data-centric phone as a voice phone. So unlike "dumbphones" where you physically access the internet by pushing that little web button, there is no way to fully control when the iPhone goes online. When you go to access your email the phone automatically goes online to check for new messages, there is no offline browsing mode. It goes online for weather, stocks, safari, maps, world clock when setting it up, which all burn through data, and don't get me started on the occasional crash or two from safari, which would require you opening it up and beginning the process from scratch especially it crashed 5 or 6 pages deep.

That's the whole point of Rogers, or what I like to call "Robbers" giving you such a limited data plan. They know there is no way you could stay within that those limitations and they're more than happy to rape you Canadians in the process. I wish you guys had multiple carriers. If anyone deserves a fair deal it's Canada. The economy is not so hot in Mexico and even they fare better. Shame really!!!

The difference between a chinese knockoff and the real thing is the shipping address on the outside of the box :)

There's no way i'd ever pay those prices for service.

Rogers releases iPhone 3G plans, civilized world points and laughs!

Just sent an online complaint to the Competition Bureau and called them to make sure they got it! They did, and they said I'm not the first one today to be contacting them about the ridiculous pricing :) !

I also agree, by not buying the iPhone it is one of the smartest ways to make them change their plans and get a grip on reality!

Fido updated their site to show the same crap as Rogers. The only thing thats better (slightly) than Rogers is per second billing, oh, and you can use Fido Dollars towards the purchase of the iPhone itself.

Still, the plans are exactly the same and I can't help be feel angry at this whole situation.

wicked. i posted it on the facebook group related to this subject. i think this event is a good catalyst to stop all the ridiculous business practices of rogers and bell. **** these guys up. i mean, we don't let people do this **** to our hockey, right?

I sent an email to John Boynton of Rogers quoted below in the Globe and Mail asking him if he paid his own cell phone bill. Only someone who doesn't pay his own bill would consider this "affordable"

"We've designed a pricing structure that offers affordable, flexible voice and data packages so Canadians can truly unleash their iPhone 3G experience on Canada's fastest wireless network,” Rogers chief marketing officer John Boynton said in a statement.

Rogers calculates that the plan using 400 MB of data is the equivalent of 200,000 text e-mails or 3,100 web pages or 1,360 photo attachments. The 2GB plan represents up to 1,048,000 text e-mails or

God damn it! If Rogers was smart they would make it something between 30-40 including the caller ID pack (another 15-20$!)... More customers!!! I wish I could go smack Ted Rogers in the face right now!!!:mad::mad:

The only reason he can say that is because he's rich and doesn't know what it's like to be a regular, everyday, hardworking person that has to budget for everything.

thanks Rogers for nothing...this monopoly has to be ended.

The money has to come from ignorant customers so Rogers can pay its bid amount for cellular freq auction that is being held by the Federal Gov't. :p;):)

Will never sign up with Rogers ever, and since I am not in the market for an iPhone the option is only sweeter. :D

What a horrible plan. Rogers is about to lose a lot of customers I suspect.

Can't remember the last time I saw a topic with 730 negatives. It's been a while. This definitely deserves it though.

Tell them you believe, as many other do, Rogers is overpricing on the iPhone 3G plans! And that you want plans similar to what AT&T and O2 customers are getting!

We can do it!!!

not just the iphone plan, every plan. cable etc. the iphone plan is what broke the camel's back

I was 99% going to get one, but after seeing these plans I'm going to pass, terrible value here, if your going to charge me that much you're going to have to do better than that guys! better luck next time.
