All of it is good news. Thank you for all of those updates in one place Mudbug. Now it's own to Tuesday, just what will we see.

iLife 05 is enough good news all by itself :D Mine is coming TODAY--earlier than expected, even though I got the free shipping. Guess I got a free shipping upgrade from Apple--again!

(Tangent: David Coursey just reviewed iLife 05 with a "C+" rating... but then when you read, he hasn't tried it! He looked at the Apple web page and said he didn't think there were many new features  The Ken Burns Effect in iPhoto, new book sizes, and album subfolders are enough to justify $79 for me. Then throw in GarageBand 2 which is a BIG upgrade! Oh, yeah, and new versions of iMovie and iDVD, slicker and easier than ever. No new features??)

I'm really hoping they do some needed updates to iCal 2 and make it shine, as opposed to a tiny update and changing the version number just to use it as a "New Feature". Hopefully we'll see some new screens soon.

I've never heard of iCal 2 before... is it new in this build or did I just miss it in previous Tiger builds?

iCal 2 is new. And from what I can tell it was the only App that had not gotten a major overhaul in the Tiger builds yet. In the second developers preview it was at 1.5.6. DVD Player may have only been at 4.5, but everything else had gone on to version 2.0. This iCal update has me quite excited as well.

Also, according to tracking, my copy of iLife 05 is on the truck right now making its way to my dorm room. It left Dallas at 7:45 this morning.

My only real gripe about iCal is that it won't print monthly/weekly/daily calendars nearly as well as Outlook or Entourage. Otherwise, I think all three apps are pretty much the same as far as functionality and ease of use.

I'd love to see a great new iCal too. I switched over from MS Outlook/Entourage for Spotlightability and general attractiveness. Mail and Address Book are pretty good for now, iCal is the most lacking IMO, especially Tasks/To Do's.

Um, where in the "not quite some time" regarding G5 Powerbooks, if they EVER happen (probably wont, will use Freescale chips instead) did you pick up "if true." Please dont' start this into another delusional off-based pipe dream naive false facts wishy washy inaccurate and just plain silly "G5 Powerbook" BS rumor thread.

If true to the rumor... if you did know exactly what was being released you would not be allowed on these forums.

Dreams are what keep people sane.

NFL Rebroadcasts?

The first recordings of football games for sale under the agreement will be this Sunday's NFL conference championships, which will be available on the Internet the following morning.

Great! Now I can hear the Eagles lose the NFC Championship all over again for the past three years. Masochistic Philly fans (and Buffalo fans) are going to love this?

New Powerbooks Feb 1st?

I placed an order for a 12" powerbook back on the 16th. Soon after I ordered, my ship date became an estimated 7 to 10 days. Now the order info says that my Powerbook should ship "on or before 02/01/2005" - which is a Tuesday for those keeping score.

Too right. If G5 PB were about to be released, why were they not mentioned at MW just several weeks ago? SJ has got too much of an ego to not mention G5 PB on stage.

iLife 05 looks good - I'm tempted to buy it for iPhoto 5 which looks so much better these days.

iLife '05 is on the truck for delivery today. Perfect timing since my wife is producing several DVDs from the holiday video she shot. She's a recent switcher and absolutely lovers her iMac G5 and OS X.

The PB speed bumps won't be of much interest to me. My TiBook 1 GHz is serving me fine.

iPhoto

I heard the iPhoto upgrades are sweet. Trying to blend itself as a cheeper version of Photoshop - for the home user.

And yes... I believe (no jumping off brindges now) that we are just looking at a speedbump in the next tuesday or so. I wouldn't be suprised if the wait isn't unti Feb 1st.

We'll see.

Enjoy!

AN AOL INSTALLER????????????????? WHAT ON EARTH ARE THEY THINKING?

bundled in tiger, an aol installer. oh crap. lookit windoze, see what aol does when you're trying to uninstall it from that.

what they should do is have an aol blocker, something that locks down your mac and renders it unusable if you try put aol on it. that'd teach the bastards.

uhm i don't think they're bundling an AOL installer anymore than they are bundling adobe or macromedia installers (also listed). rather i think there may have been problems with previous tiger builds and those installers; this latest tiger build fixes those, apparently.

Who would the heck would want to listen to an audio replay of a football game that already happened? Seems silly to me.

The rest of the stuff seems cool. I just found out that my wife (who works at a univerisity) can get iLife '05 for $39 and Final Cut Express HD for $99!!! It doesn't get much sweeter than that.

umm, do you have a life other then going around through all threads with mention of a powerbook G5 and insulting everyone who beleives it? your a complete jerk. man, i'm not expecting them soon, but they WILL eventually happen contrary to whatever you say, and i hope they come sooner rather then later if only to laugh at you.

grow up man, if you're so sure that a pbg5 will never happen and your sick of people mentioning it, then leave, i'm sure im not the only one who's sick of you trashing anyone who beleives a powerbook rumor

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Feb 1 was the day and not next Tuesday. Don't forget the whole after-MWSF buzz is still going on and Mac mini, iLife and iWorks go on sale only tomorrow (in the US that is, the rest of the world has to wait another week:)

No, you're not the only one.

Just fired up iPhoto 5 - HOLY COW

The new editing features are unbelieveable.

No Photoshop, but close and it edits in real-time, which is nice.

Very impressed.

It is a processor and system hog, though.

After the Steelers beat the Pats and win the Superbowl I'll have them on my iPod...Sweet! :D

Off topic - two words: Corey Dillion. Pats by 10. Easy.

On-topic, can't wait to try iLife '05 which was delivered by Fedex to my house today (I'm at work). Anyone know if it "updates the library" in iPhoto, like previous editions.

Cheers,
