Rumored 12.9-Inch 'iPad Pro' May Include More Powerful A8X Processor

I think it would run a hybrid OS X on it!

Their are rumors of a 12" retina Macbook Air. What if this is that?!

In my opinion this ipad is not an iPad... I mean we would see an iPad air 2 an a 3rd generation iPad mini, but this touchscreen is for the MacBook Air retina.... With touch interface and OS X of course

but will it bend?
Safari will be snappier
He's holding it wrong
omg new powerbook on tuesday
Apple is doomed/Apple is doomed:rolleyes:

I think I've now covered all of the usuals.

But, but... running iOS apps on something that big and still no "real" apps? I will still prefer a mba 11" over an enormous iOS-unit...

I think its meant more to be carried around like a MBA, but without the MBA capabilities... I dont understand a 13" tablet running iOS...

Well... sure.

Honestly, I don't see the rationale for a tablet this big, either. Apple seems to be going down the path that Ford did with the Mustang. Just make it bigger, and it will sell. I get it for the iPhone, but not for the iPad. There is a point of diminished returns.

Unless there's a convergence strategy at work here, and we just don't recognize it. Would people really want to replace the MBA with an iPad? I don't see that, either. I hope Apple doesn't start marketing this bigger iPad with a wireless keyboard to go against the Surface. There seems to be a lot of confusion in some of Apple's product lines these days.

I can only imagine the amount of bending this could receive. Hopefully Apple learns from the iPhone fiasco and uses a better alloy...

About as much as the current ipads. Tablets dont bend in normal uses so its a nonissue.

Hmm , maybe like a Apple A8 clocked at like 1.6-1.7 ghz clock speed alongsid with probably the GX6650 in the iPad, the new iPhones rock a GX4450 or something like that(I think it may be actually GX6450

Wow, never in the history of Apple have I been underwhelmed by 3 straight new product launches - the iPhone 6, 6+, and this bloated iPad.

I sure hope they do put some more innovation into it. The split screen multitasking must happen with this device, otherswise the retail space of the screen will not be living up to its potential.

They set precedence with the iPhone 6+ using the extra screen real estate in a new way. I have hopes for this.

Expanding on what I posted on another thread, there are all sorts of things that could make a large tab more of a 'Pro' item for creative types - some Apple may not implement directly (pressure sensitive - they have shown off Force Touch for the :apple:Watch or they may leave it to Wacom et al) and some they might.

One option I see as quite Apple-like is the ability have apps spanning devices - you could have your drawing surface on the iPad Pro and your tools and panels on another iOs device (iPhone, iPad Mini etc), or if you are working on a zoomed-in area your other device could show the zoomed-out view - this functionality seems to me to be an obvious extension of Handoff. Using Display Pad I currently have my iPad Gen 1 as an occasional extra display beside my Mac Mini/Cinema Display - I can use photoshop full screen and my layers panel etc is on the iPad.

I'd like to call it fake, but then again, every stupid rumor came true in the last keynote. An iWatch that will never do anything useful. An iPhablet that will bend from just wearing it in a pocket. New Apple products are increasingly unreasonable. So why not build a tablet that's too big to be a tablet and too small to be a laptop? Sure it wouldn't work for anything, but that doesn't stop the new Apple. I say it's confirmed. Huge tablets here we come.

Fine but what do you want? If you want more of the same tech Apple has plenty of competitors and copycats. Maybe you'll be more happy living in 2005. I'm looking forward to Home, Health, Carplay and connected mobile devices everywhere I go.

Does not matter what CPU you put in an iPad, the OS is the problem. No reason to have a giant screen if you just can't do much on it.

I hope Apple introduces this time some Productivity features and new stuff other than just a bigger version of its current ipad. Tablets sales are going down because there is no need to upgrade so often. I was fine with my iPad 2. No need to upgrade to just watch Netflix, web browsing, and other things that I can do with my phone. I ended up selling it and still waiting for a new features to buy a new tablet.

I get your point but its getting to the point that I don't know what can they do to make people upgrade their Ipads more often - as long as they continue to support the A5 - devs will continue to create apps for the lower CPU.

On the other hand, if you have more powerful (12.9/2MB/2Ghz) Ipad - more powerful software can be created and another market might open up for business people, scientists, artists, etc. that want desktop like software in a table.

If they make something this size, they should run OSX and Windows ( Bootcamp ) on it. 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, nice :) . Who needs a 12.9 inch iOS iPad ?

Precisely, they should focus more on making iOS more OSX like, or just flat out optimizing OSX for touch for OSX-11. There is nothing wrong with the current iPad for what it does. But making it bigger, it better do a whole lot more! I am hoping that 12" rMBA and this 12" iPad "pro" are the same device.

Hey MR, please go back to calling this this 'iPad Math'. It has a douchey ring to it that really fits these rumors. Or you could accept the truth- that the product is called the iPad Plus. Your choice.
