Rumored 12.9-Inch 'iPad Pro' May Include More Powerful A8X Processor

Bend!!! First!!! Booyah.

But yes, this will easily bend. They will surely need to use some stronger alloy and not just aluminum for this back.

Tim,
like having a big menu at a restaurant, more choices isnt necessarily better.
Do the thinking for us and figure out the 'best' option, and just offer that! Then offer it well

but will it bend?
Safari will be snappier
He's holding it wrong
omg new powerbook on tuesday
Apple is doomed/Apple is doomed:rolleyes:

I think I've now covered all of the usuals.

I think you forgot the most important one: Steve would have never allowed this.......

How can you tell if it will easily bend if it doesnt even exist yet?
You do realize that image is a mockup created months ago right?
And the fact that no one will be keeping it in their pockets makes it less likely to bend.

This would be great for artists if it supported a digital pen with 2K pressure sensitive levels.

And ofcourse for any kind of sketching.

But alas I have no high hopes from Apple regarding this and I am focusing on Samsungs new Note series of phones and tablets instead..

Yeah, I wonder if the tap vs push modes on the Watch is the start of Apple's move into pressure sensitive displays? They might treat it like a "hobby" on there first.

so now all the silly people will ask "will it bend" etc.
Is the IQ really going down here? Isn't it enough how the media are overblowing it now, do we really need this in every thread from now on?
Come on people, grow up!

Too many 12-year old kiddies logging in when they should be studying.

Isn't the first question that should be answered / asked is... What can this do, that laptops or an iPad Air can't already do?

I fail to see a purpose unless it's trying to compete against the Surface 3 (thus combining iPad with some functions of a laptop, as in size).

What does a Movie screen do that your TV can't ?

"In its recent report, TechNews also reiterates its previous claim that Apple's iPhone Air 2 will feature of RAM."
Read this now three times and still confused..

As with financial stories, as soon as you hit "reiterate", bail on reading the rest of the text, because you know the author is a moron.

Yeah, big fat crayons. I want a real stylus with real pressure sensitivity. But knowing apple it will be a big iPad and nothing more.

The Wacom Companion portable tablets max out at 2048 levels of pressure, so there really isn't any difference when it comes to sensitivity for a portable.

If it's just a bigger screen I don't get what the point is unless there are going to be software changes that make it worthwhile.

Agreed. If they are calling in iPad pro...then there would need to be some changes on would hope.

Size...

Is it just me or does this leaked picture look bigger than 13"? Looks more like the 15" screen size that I am currently looking at on my macbook pro.

Three words....Microsoft Surface Pro 3...if it cant pony up to this, its just another IPad, but with a bigger screen.

Fine but what do you want? If you want more of the same tech Apple has plenty of competitors and copycats.

From the top of my head :

• Mac mini redesign with PCIe-SSD and DisplayPort 1.3
• Apple TV with App Store and Game Controller
• 13-inch MacBook Pro with Quad-Core CPU
• 12-inch & 14-inch fanless MacBook Air with Retina Display
• 30-inch iMac 4K Display
• 50-inch iMac 5K Display
• iPod Touch upgrade to iPhone 6 technology

But if you give me an iPad mini 3 with TouchID, ApplePay, TrueTone Flash and the ability to make regular phone calls over cellular, I'll settle with that.

As a super heavy iPad user (note my signature) I'm not entirely sure what I'd do with a 13" iPad.

I'm sure it'll be awesome, and yes the keyboard could be truly full sized. But it'll mean a bigger, heavier bag, a heavier device, and presumably the same functionality just at a larger scale.

Perhaps it'll be about multi-pane multi-tasking, and obviously screen real estate would go a long way in that regard.

Hmm.

What if the iPad Pro and rumored new MacBook Air are actually the same device? When you dock the iPad Pro to the keyboard, the keyboard serves as an extra battery, upclocks the CPU on the iPad, and switches from an iOS looking interface to a Mac OS looking interface, complete with normal keyboard and mouse support. If you think I'm crazy, Apple has a patent for an iMac design that does something similar: When you grab the edges of the iMac, it senses the heartbeat in your hands and disengages the stand, allowing you to easily lower the iMac to a steep angle more suitable for touch. It also transitions the OS to Touch mode, with bigger UI elements for finger-based input. So it's not completely unheard of.

If true, it'll be interesting to see how that compares to the forthcoming 9" HTC Nexus tablet with keyboard accessory, and also a potential future Chromebook hybrid (now that Chrome OS can officially run a small selection of Android apps and unofficially run a larger selection using Chrome APK Packager).

Itll probably be pretty light and thinner then current iPads which actually would be nice

I'd love to see Apple license Wacom technology and see them integrate it into this larger iPad.

By the way, I can't wait to see the bending tests on this one.

Actually this big iPad is growing on me. When I first heard about it I thought it is ridiculous. But I see myself doing more and more work on my iPad. I think I work 70% on my iPad. I do not really think about it but just use it as my go to device
