Why do you want Blu-ray on a 27" screen? Unless it's for data purposes, in which case, aren't peripheral drives supported?

Are you being intentionally obtuse? The difference between blu-ray and DVD is evident even on the 24" iMac display. You are typically sitting 18"-30" away from these things and the 27" will definitely start to show the lack of resolution of DVD not to mention the poor contrast and poor color space.

The rumors have previously indicated that Blu-ray was planned but was pulled at the 11th hour due to some issues.

I hope that's true and that Blu-ray arrives soon in a springtime refresh. I want that 27" i7 iMac but not without a Blu-ray drive.

Take a look at the reviews of Blu-ray movies like Braveheart and tell me you can't see the difference in picture quality on your monitor.

Can't say I was shocked by anything, though seeing the iMac in 16:9 aspect ratio is weird, though probably not as weird as a 16:10 ratio would have looked.

Talk about a massive size jump from the 21"-27" versions...Other than that I'm curious to see how the mouse feels, ergonomics wise the Mighty Mouse was terrible, making a mouse thinner doesn't exactly help.

No blu-ray, but then again I rather see it in a laptop where I can hook it up to any size screen instead of being limited to 21" or 27". Best new feature IMO, being able to have video-in on the 27" iMac. Now you can actually use the thing as an all-in-one device.

Here is an idea for Apple how about a charge station for the mouse and the keyboard? that would be cool.

Just get rechargable batteries. They last forever, or so it seems. I have had mine in for atleast 2 months. Battery level on both keyboard and mouse is around 45%.

Never mind. Store is back up.

$2400 for it and a Radeon card, an i7 and 8GB RAM. No thanks. I built a beefier system for $1200 (HALF THAT). I only have 22" monitor however. I'll stick with Macbooks.

Store is up!!

Everyone go buy their new iProds! :)

Availability

CNBC showed the new 27" imac and mouse. Said available in November. Does anyone know when in Nov.?

Oh my god is this a mistake? The last iMac with the best processor, 4 gigs ram, Radeon 4850 and a 1 tb HDD cost over $4000 AU. A 27" iMac, 4 gigs ram, Radeon 4850 and core i7 is only $2800? So god damn cheap, I love you Apple.

Not obtuse. I certainly wouldn't watch 18"-30" away and I don't know many who would although at that distance, you're absolutely correct in that there is a big difference. Seems that it would be "cost-prohibitive" for them to offer it and stay in their current price range.
