Do you think that the iPhone Fold will be dust proof? That is one big downside of the current foldable, also, do you think that it will have a screen protector like the Galaxy Fold, the Pixel Fold and the Oppo Find N, I actually find that more noticeable than the crease, the glare is quite annoying 🫠

Great question. I really hope so. It's super important. Pixel 10 Pro Fold is IP68, so hopefully this will be as well.

I do not envision Apple placing a screen protector on this device.

btw - if you speak Spanish you might be interested to know there are some familiar renders on the latest YouTube video of La Manzana Mordida. They very kindly reached out to me to collaborate. This is the only place you'll be able to see those renders for the time being. They do have a couple of other animations but they might be saving them for a future video.

Time stamped if - tu no hablas Espanol (like me)

Beautiful renders as always! And especially nice to see some panning shots, makes it feel even more real.

It was funny that looking at this video where they discussed the foldable and 18 Pro, I immediately thought “if the 18 Pro will have the camera in the top left corner, the foldable will most probably get the same look”.

I also think that maybe the 18 Pro rumors are misinterpreted. The 17 Pro’s have the camera on the right side of the Dynamic Island, maybe they will just move it to the left side of the Dynamic Island like on the Air.

Anything is possible at this point but I definitely wouldn’t put too much weight into that FPT video. It’s obvious those renders were done quickly so he could take advantage of the all the iPhone fold hype this past week. The aspect ratio of his model looked pretty off compared to what we know from leaked resolutions.
He revealed iOS 26, iPhone air and pro Max cameras last year. It was also proved that he had a legitimate internal source, although that got him in hot water with Apple.... But he still gets zero credit around here lol

I fully agree with you when it comes to his past leaks and I typically do give him credibility (even before the lawsuit) but his iPhone fold video wasn’t a “leak” at all. He didn’t reveal any new info that we haven’t already heard.

Furthermore, his concept in the video doesn’t match the various screen resolution leaks that have come from several good sources. His concept shows a phone shape similar to the Galaxy fold whereas the resolution specs indicate a “passport style” wide fold like iZac has demonstrated. We’ve also seen credible leaks (along with an official survey) indicating Samsung is considering a wide fold to match the iPhone fold.

I 3D printed the foldable iPhone and it has completely changed my outlook on this device. It fits so well in pockets, it isn’t thick, it unfolds into such a nice mini iPad that fits in my hands so well. It gives off Moleskin vibes. I was planning on upgrading to the M6 iPad Pro 11” when it launches, but now I’m considering upgrading both to this at the same time instead. They’re about the same price, most likely. My main concern is if it lacks a telephoto camera. Hopefully it lacks the ultra wide camera as I barely use that.

Have been waiting for a foldable from Apple for a long time. The lack of telephoto lens as per rumors is very concerning. Will be very disappointing if it comes true. Don’t want to buy an iPhone without a telephoto lens.

I made a paper comp of those rumored dimensions and when I place the folded comp on the back of my iPhone Air, the size of the folded device height and width nearly match that of the lower part of the Air below the camera bump. Give or take a little space for hinge, etc.

That lower part of the Air houses the battery. Seems to me a whole half of the iPhone Fold screen will be just a battery. The other side then would be left for additional battery and then just like the Air, the camera bump would house the guts of the device too. The camera bump also makes for a nice place to hold the device as it gives your fingers a place to grip.

Renders in this thread have the camera bump at the top of the folded device. However, I wonder what if it was turned vertically such as this attached drawing. It makes for a nice place to help grip the device one handed by wrapping your fingers around the bump.

Alleged folding iPhone case. (Instagram links.) Probably not real. Still fun to see.

Doesn't show the top edge for some reason.

It’s a nice new idea, but I think it would be very uncomfortable to hold when it is folded, especially because it will be the widest iPhone yet. I just tried holding my Air sideways and the camera plateau doesn’t feel nice in the hand. I don’t think Apple wants us gripping that part as you might touch the camera lens or sensors and it will become hot because that’s where the processor will be.

I’m hesitant to trust this but there’s a supposed case leak for the fold coming from Turkey. Looks like a dual camera but small island, kinda looks like the base iPhones 17’s island but horizontal and a bit extra for the mics

The case also reveals the speaker holes location and the volume button locations on the top above the cameras.

I already posted the original videos from Instagram three posts above.

Where are you seeing volume buttons?

It took a while for my post to be approved because of the r*ddit link I think

Third pic showing the unfolded state, you can see a little bit of the volume buttons on the top right.

Side note: I’d love to see an updated iZac render now that we know where the volume buttons and speaker holes are. And how the camera hump looks.

Edit: I stitched the two original videos from instagram for easier viewing and added English subtitles. You can really see the speaker holes now. It looks like it’s two sets of 4 around the USB C port and then 8 on the top but on the left side. So top left and bottom right speakers when unfolded. And then top right volume buttons. That’s kinda weird.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m not seeing much in that area on that pic.

I do think however that (potentially) the volume buttons land on the top.

My guess is that the right edge will feature the power button in the upper right, camera control in the lower right, and something in the very middle to help with opening the device.

Hmm, it looks there is discolouration on the top that is similar to the area where we know there's a side button. That top edge seems like it might be volume buttons? Maybe this thing has no 'action' button, like an iPad.

I think the videos are better sources than these pics.

I can't see anything conclusive in the videos. It's super weird that the top was entirely avoided in both videos.

Either because it doesn't have the appropriate cutouts or they didn't bother to pan to that area.

We should know soon enough. I'd be shocked if the power button wasn't on the right edge. With that established, it's just a question if there will be room for the volume buttons on the same edge, otherwise they will be placed on the top.

Yeah the ergonomics are really questionable. The button placements and speaker placements is really weird.

@iZac

yet another YouTuber claiming your concept CAD drawings are “leaked dimensions” lol

Haha, cheers for the heads-up! It's a shame - I like the guy who does SnazzyLabs, he seems like an honest-to-goodness type of nerd. I actually reached out to them earlier to warn them of the miscommunication, not that it would do any good after the've already posted the video.

This simple thing has really opened my eyes to how easily something can be misread and reshared. The irony is I only did the renders because CAD plans aren't very eye catching, so I never thought anyone would pay attention to them.

oh yeah ditto I love Quinn's videos. I was actually subscribed from years ago when he left for his mission trip for like 2 years haha. The mac tips videos he did a couple years back brought me back tho.

I think the fact you did it so subtle helped a ton. Really crazy how far screenshots of screenshots can travel even today when everything is easily searchable, rumors can still morph and change even in today's day and age.

One thing that's super interesting is the camera bump you speculated on is being reported and speculated on by the tech youtubers and how technically we still have no idea what the fold will really look like. It's actually got me excited that apple could totally surprise us still. In this age of leaker culture the fact that we still don't know more than the resolution and a couple of tech specs is pretty cool.

Personal opinion, are you team left aligned selfie camera or team centered?

Yeah it's funny how things change and morph as they travel around the internet. This must be how chat bot 'hallucinations' happen.

Regarding camera bumps, yeah - I just made an educated guess that it'll look like the Air, but it's interesting to see the case manufacturer videos that you and Blairh posted - something between an iPhone 17 and iPhone air bump. I'm gonna wait to see if it gets corroborated somehow and remodel my version correspondingly (but we know how easily these things get twisted from one dodgy source!)

As for selfie cameras, hmm ... I'm 'team centred' - I think moving the selfie camera to the side just causes a bunch of potential software problems and unless every new model moves to the left it could look inconsistent, but we'll see!

It's wild how few people I guess really pay attention to these rumors. I guess they just don't frequent this forum.

I've seen AppleInsider has referenced your drawings several times now as CADs, ZoneofTech did so recently on YouTube, and now Quinn. Kudos to MacRumors and 9to5Mac for not reporting misinformation.
