My AW4 battery health lies currently at 82 %, and it starts to get annoying to recharge twice a day, if I go for a round of jogging. In other words I think I have to pull the trigger...

I got tired of waiting and picked up a 44mm Series 6 yesterday. Walmart has both sizes for $50 off in multiple colors.

Price matched at Best Buy who also gave me $100 on my Series 4 as a trade-in. Combined with a 10% off coupon that I had, was able to upgrade for about $260 including tax (not supposed to stack but they did). Oh and they throw in 6 months of Apple Fitness+.

I'll upgrade again to the S8 next year, assuming there actually is a new design or sensor. Otherwise I'm content with gaining like 80% of the S7 features at a lot less cost. Gonna be interesting to see when they finally release the S7.

I'm a day one series 0 owner, updated to stainless series 4 also day one, I think I might go day one for stainless series 7. On Reddit someone sumarized pretty well the updates you get from series 4 which seems compelling enough to me.

Could also upgrade to a Series 6 on sale and get all this:
This multi-generational upgrade means a bigger screen with thinner bezels, always-on display, 50% 33% faster charging (0-80% in 45 60 min vs 90 min), on-screen keyboard, new watch faces, more storage, fresh battery, compass, international emergency calling without a cellular plan, more powerful processor, blood oxygen sensor, always-on altimeter, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, better battery life when working out and listening to audio, U1 chip, and digital car keys.

I was quoting the OP's posted list, which was:

It's reassuring to see so many folk taking the same stance as me. I too had a launch Apple Watch, then the S4, when the original was really starting to choke. But the S4 still does everything I need it too. Maybe next year? Or, maybe not...

I did just get my first solo Sport Loop and Braided Solo Thingy, and boy are they nice. It's great not to have that metal button scratching on my desk or laptop.

Good luck to all you upgraders. I hope you get what you're after!

My battery health is at 81%. I did a 3 hour workout today while listening to some music (downloaded) while connected on Lte, iPhone was in the locker with bluetooth off. Left the gym with 28% left on the watch. Also the watch was connected via Bluetooth to my polar heart rate monitor, which should help with the battery.
I might change my mind and get the 7. Is the AW battery can be changed?

Apple charges $79 to replace the battery when it gets to 80% or lower.

After I heard about AW7 - I really don't know if I should buy or not - the specification doesn't really appeal to me to upgrade from AW4.

Only two features added bigger screen and fast charging Compare to AW6, still not sure if I should buy it AW7 or wait for AW8.

Glucose monitoring on hopefully 8 series and I’ll jump in…My series 4 is just as snappy with no AOD and less screen real estate.
Initially wasn't going to, but now leaning toward it. I was really tempted by the oxygen monitoring with the Series 6 but it sounded like glucose monitoring was getting close, and I'd really like that. I'd feel very silly to get a Series 7 only to have glucose monitoring come out on a Series 8, but I'm not convinced that it's so close to release. It just seems like one of those features that generate a lot of interest near release time, but we don't hear much about them otherwise. Additionally, lately it seems like competitors get new health sensors out to market before Apple does, and I haven't heard of anyone else with glucose monitoring out.

Also, things have changed for me and now the always-on display would come in use for me... and that's probably the biggest reason I'd consider upgrading. Whether it's to a discounted 6 or a new 7 is hard to say, though. But otherwise, I'd keep on with the 4 until next year, if not longer.

I keep going back and forth. I’m not really disappointed in the design as I like the more organic curves for something you wear, but the lack of new health sensors add even more buyers anxiety when I think of next year.

I think really the biggest holdback is that I’m still really pleased with my S4. It reminds me of the iPhone 4S which kept me completely content long after it’s prime.

Really wanted titanium though.

The battery on my S4 is at 85% and barely lasts the whole day, so it looks like I'll be upgrading to the S7.
My s5 is at 86% so I am considering the same...A question for S6 owners, will it be any faster than s5 and at least some better battery life?

S4 owner here. Most likely upgrading but I’m not sure if the 45mm version would seem huge on my wrist. Currently using a 40mm model but thinking of getting the bigger one. We’ll see.

S4 SS owner. Replaced battery at Apple store last month after seeing s7 announcement. Battery health was 79%. As others noted, it’s $79+tax if you bring into the Apple store. They take your watch and then send you a replacement watch in a white box in the mail after a few days. My replacement did not say new or refurbished but the stainless steel was polished like new and the crystal was perfect. I would think water resistance would not be a problem.

I read some conflicting comments. Is the S7 faster than the S6 in terms of CPU power? Or is it only the charging that’s faster?

Official is it only the charging that is 33% faster. Apple didn’t mention the cpu. But there are some rumors that the chipset is called S7, but the cpu itself will be the same as in the S6.

I went from the S0 to S3, which I lost during a move and replaced it with a S4 in July 2019. The S4's battery health is at 92% and it still does everything I need it to do. I'm definitely holding on to it for at least another year.
