Is there actual documentation of this?

Should be, i'll check the applecare documentation. It was actually the Apple repair center that told me.

Not if they state that's what they will do when you take out their extended warranty in the terms and conditions. Apple state that 3 repairs and the customer is entitled to a new replacement or a refund.

Only to move the boundries/definitions when it suits...

I definitely agree with you. If Apple's policy is that they will replace or refund your machine if it has undergone 3 repairs, they must follow through with that.

uum me too.

I had three repairs done on my powerbook. The last repair they had too send in and send out twice before I got it back. I asked about getting a replacement, and one of the bigger i-diots comes back from behind the counter stares down at me with crossed arms and tells me they cant tell me the terms under which apple will replace a product. This was atleast 3 months ago. Hell, I want a new machine! I am almost tempted nuke the drive as suggested excepts I need all the data on there. Does it matter that my machine is refurbished under those terms and agreements about 3 strikes and a new machine? Do I also have any recourse? Or am I just greedy?

Probably does. And it has to be under 'extended' warranty as well I believe.

you've gotta be kidding. i can't believe you asked this. while i can't completely empthasize, i understand you could be frustrated so call them.

if they've repaired it per their original warranty and it's working fine then they are fulfilling their side of the purchase 100%. sure, it sucks that it's been repaired twice, but should they really pay for you wanting a macpro rather than wanting a machine that functions properly?

if it works right, then you have no right whatsoever to sabotage it.

if you want a macpro, then save your pennies, borrow the money or use a credit card.

get it honestly....

As i previously said, I dont think i would a have the nerve/neck to actually go through with it, but i would be lying if i said the thought hadnt crossed my mind, and hence putting it out there...

However if truth be told, i wouldnt go through with it incase it all went pair shaped.... I'd rather sell the G5 and upgrade to a macpro as was my intention when ACare ends in Jan 07 than chance losing a machine for nothing... :)

This is the orignal post that got me thinking bad thoughts...

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/124331/

Others have had issues too but judging by some of these replies apples policy seems to be flexible. maybe I should have just drilled my nails in lasttime... oh well...

Any way to kill MRU, and make it look like a suicide?

But since MRU doesn't have any balls, it would probably be pointless anyways.

This was a pointless and rude post, don't you think?

He may be trying to do something that's wrong, but let's not make any personal attacks.

Didn't know whether to quote your original post, or the no balls post ... ;)

:)

I guess the discussion is more of a case of , if you could would you ? Would you chance it ?

No on your third repair you can get a full 'refund'.. That refund pays for a macpro.

Really? My iMac needs to get taken back, as its really not working, and it might be the 3rd time(or 2nd)

Neat! I'd say don' break your powermac because if Apple seems that you did, you want get a new Mac Pro, i'll end up with out a PowerMac or Mac Pro!

But ya, i'd be pissed if they cheated me out of a new Mac Pro...also do you get the credit for the amount the Mac cost, or do you get a new Mac with the refund(IE if i got 2K for my broken Mac could i send it on small stuff at the Apple store?)

Off to read the fine print on my AppleCare

Yeah that's my biggest fear and what would stop me.

If you have AppleCare, you can always wait for another service to hit later on.

Right now there is a good chance they can still replace your machine with the latest refurbished/new G5 in the Good/Better/Best classes.

You want to wait until all the G5s are gone from the Applestore and all that are left are Mac Pros -- plus there aren't 3 machines anymore, which may complicate things a bit.

O man! Yes.. my 2 repairs have been repairs and not services! Also would i get 1900 dollars of store credit, or would it have to go towards a new iMac?

Well six months seems to be about as long as my mac goes without somthing cropping up so fingers crossed somthing happens soon :) Applecare runs out at the end of january 2007 though

Nah, i'd be able to choose replacement or refund. I'd choose refund and use the money against a macpro.

No you get a refund directly to your credit card.

So you can spend it however you want.

Whole crap! I bought it with cash, so would i get a check or like Apple gift card? Man that would rock!

You could probably insist on a check... Either way you'd be able to spend on whatever you want :)

Let the fans blow dust from a vacuum cleaner or something until it overheats from the dust stuck in the fans.

Just an idea.
