I want only one thing in Safari: auto close Downloads window.

And no, I don't wanna use third-party plug-ins.

Just a small want, but get rid of that spinning bezel in Safari 4 when the page is loading, and go back to the loading address bar in Safari 3, or surprise us with something better.
Yes! (Why do things come and go - just leave them be!) Also, a popunder blocker within Safari! I hate all of these add-ons, just let Safari do the whole thing GDI!

I can't believe no one talked about Bing search.

The Bing rumor on iPhone might be true. It will probably only be offered as an option, but who knows. :rolleyes:

I did :( (3rd comment)

And in addition to the HTML5 additions, hopefully Safari 5 loads YouTube HTML5 videos a lot freaking better. Worse than flash. Chrome loads them in a second or 2, but Safari chugs away.

.

Also, that makes apple so un-apple :).
I really don't wish to mess up my safari. I've tried chrome and firefox. Safari might be a millisecond or a two slower but the user experience is pretty solid. There are a lot of lags in Chrome while scrolling and I hate that.

Safari has been doing good. I just need this **** to be more secure with some new features and thats all.

Im hoping for safari 5, sth that makes it unique next to firefox and chrome...otherwise whats better in the current safari? they better bring in sth strong or they lost another customer...

I also hope for CDMA iphone for Sprint, Im sure they wont announce on Monday even its coming in September...

The first time i installed google chrome , it was love at first sight and it still is up to today, it`s the fastest browser out there as far as i`m concern (and i did try them all), it`s the most clean browser out there and on top of that it`s been constantly made better.
As far as Safari 5 , if you got a mac it might be 90% of chrome, if you are on windows don`t bother installing.

Like firefox has.

Haven't run safari in a while but been using chrome since the first public release, and i love the adress bar of chrome, most major websites are suggested so if I type ib a while down in the suggestion list www.ibm.com will pop up, and the quick google search, just write ibm and hit enter you get to the google search results.

And the of course, the quick site specific search, type wiki then tab and ibm and you end up att wikipedia's page for ibm.
The site specific search doesn't seem to be defined by chrome either, if you visited wikipedia it will be searchable, you cant search on sites you haven't visited (or so I gathered).

but one thing I'd like to see (and risking taking some flack) is xcode or supported iphone native programming tools for windows, I know some dev's that would like to try to develop for the iPhone, but either don't want to buy a mac for it, or can't afford it...

But since I'm not into app development I'm not sure if such tools already exists...

Right click > search Google (like Chrome/Windows) in a new tab would be great. Yes, I realise that you can do it in Safari/Mac by holding down the option key, but why introduce arcane key combos when you don't need to?

Plugins for Safari would be great. There's many good plugins available for Firefox. Make them freely available - i.e., none of this gatekeeper crap from Apple, with inconsistent and changing rules.

I hope we get XCode 4. That would be the highlight of the show to be honest, more important than Mac Pro updates.

What extensions do you "need"? I have Ad Block and FlashBlock on Safari. Are you not looking hard enough?

I want Inquisitor back. The Dev isn't going to make it work with 10.6 unless an official API comes out.

I have it on my PPC Mac, and I miss it dearly when I'm on my iMac.

Yes, Apple, please create a library of second rate hack addons like Chrome.

Who said they had to be second rate hacks? If Apple had an iPhone-like approval process for them, it would ensure quality.

I'm interested to see that. I hope it's better than Safari's or Mail's current implementation of RSS feeds.

Me too. Maybe it will have an iBooks-like UI? Might be neat.

It's interesting that they are saving a minor point update for WWDC. Maybe they've knocked OpenGL performance out of the park, and Steve will demonstrate Starcraft II and HL2 running at equivalent speeds to the Windows version. *dreaming(=*

I hope XCode 4 has at least:
* more refactoring tools
* hassle free debugging of unit tests
* optimize #imports functionality ( like Eclipse )
* Quick Fix ( like in Eclipse )
* less buggy!
* A decent plugin manager - for extensions
* Configurable code templates within XCode
* generate protocol methods in implementing class

Check out Brandon Walkin's XCode UI suggestions.

I think DashCode will be updated to support iPad widgets. :)

And I hope Safari 5 hardware accelerates 2d canvas and SVG rendering.

Xcode 4 ?! :eek:

For Apple to bump it up a whole version number, it must include some pretty major changes/updates.

I wonder if this has anything to do with that tech blogger's comment (which was later retracted) about some sort of integration/extension with Microsoft's Visual suite...bah, I'll have to go find that article again.

no iphone os 4?

And is there already hardware accel in mac?
This article isn't saying that Safari 5 and Xcode 4 are the only things to be released at WWDC. Just because iPhone OS 4 isn't mentioned by this website means nothing.

It's just saying these two things will be shown. (Actually, they mention a third that isn't covered by MacRumors.)
